“Serving pizza like a normal pizza place, with eat-in available, also has a bar with a quality selection of taps including some unique high end craft taps. Worth a stop, good pizza, good beer, good value, hopping place. Good service.“

“Nestled away in an historic building on the historic main drag of a small, historic town center, JR Brewery is a welcoming stop a bit off the normal Charlottesville or Brew Ridge Trail routes. The bartender (Irish-English, not Australian) was super friendly, quite knowledgable, and great at pointing us at some great beers. The drive is also scenic and enjoyable. Definitely worth a detour! Brewery #840.“

“The place was much smaller than I’d imagined, and quite busy for a Saturday early afternoon. I’d managed a seat right in front of a pole at the bar but moved down before my beers were brought to me to the corner seat next to the draft board. I parked down the street in a free public lot, though there is street parking if you don’t mind parallel parking (I usually don’t, but prefer nobody is on the sidewalk watching me). Bartender was nice - I’m guessing the accent was Australian, but I’m also a stupid American so... Quality was fine here, but nothing stood out as being something I’d have to have again. Could be the season - I love dark beers - stouts, porters, etc the best, but nothing was off. The guy next to me couldn’t stop raving about their beers - came to town every weekend. As Drake said, longest 20 minute drive on the planet from c-ville - I highly agree and recommend you go on a nice day if you’re coming from Charlottesville, as it does feel like you’ve been traveling an hour when you finally arrive. I will, without a doubt, return. Service was nice, beers were solid (though to me unmemorable), and the area was very nice.“

“A small joint with a nice atmosphere and a knowledgeable bartender. Parking is all on-street. There isn’t a lot of seating inside, but out back holds plenty more. The beers are pretty darn good. They don’t offer food but you can order from several restaurants around town and they’ll deliver.“

“Completely deleted my old review (score was 50). Here’s some history. A brewery by this name has existed here for several years. However they are now on the third group of owners will all new recipes, staff and brewers. Same vibe as before, small tasting room and bar, but comfortable. Fewer beers on tap than before, but, the overall quality has VASTLY improved. and they’ve even started winning gold medals at local festivals. No food, but there are restaurants nearby. Bartender was nice and helpful but full disclosure he’s a friend of mine. I would be here a lot, but even though it is in my county, it’s a long way from anywhere.“
