56 /100 Twenty Two Taphouse (Bar) 5770 TEREDO ST A decent stop in Sechelt. There's a reasonable number of taps and I think last time I was there I was drinking Nectarous. It can be quite popular, especially in the warmer months. Has an Earls-ish vibe when it's busy. |
60 /100 6642 NORWEST BAY ROAD As we arrived after a snow day, the cidery presented itself at its best, we were almost expecting to see Santa's reindeers coming out from behing the red barn; smallish inside space, but cosy and with plenty of light, enough benches and tables outside, this would be a great spot in the summer too; the food is prepared in a small shack just between the taproom and the garden. Too bad that their cider is very mediocre…
Ugh, reading here below, I just noticed that their "flights" went from 5 for $3 to 3 for $7, screw that. |
28 /100 BC Liquor Store - Sechelt (Beer Store) 5500 SUNSHINE COAST HWY #601 The clown who added this to the site could have thought that adding all BCL in the province is just adding clutter, anybody can just google them up if needed, and he could have added it to the right address too… It's a medium-small BCL, with a very sub-par beer selection, I wouldn't be able to survive if relying on this store. |
56 /100 Lighthouse Pub (Bar) 5764 WHARF ROAD Beautiful location, view on the water and a small marina.
Mediocre tap list, one Persephone, one Townsite, a few basic Foamers Folly (but with generic names, the waitress couldn't help); the beers alone won't bring us back.
Kids cheeseburger is quite big; fish&chips hastoo much batter for my liking, but it's not too greasy, good fries.
Mixed feelings about the service, we had a polite waitress, and a rude woman as we were just walking through. |
44 /100 5559 WHARF ST Come for the ticks. If not, choose another place.
As soon as I ask something that counts as service, yet simple, they are stuck up and have no flexibility, I hated the grin under the fake smile I got back instead. The space is cool and comfy, I don't know many places in town, but this must be one I would choose, just for the atmosphere. They seem to have a full kitchen, but we didn't want to give them more money. Beers are clean, with the exception of a buttery IPA, very boring, tasteless, mediocre. That's rural BC, a gamble... |
62 /100 Lighthouse Liquor Store (Beer Store) 5755 COWRIE ST They boast the biggest selection in Sechelt and it’s not bad. Comparable with Blackfish Liquor in Gibsons and probably more singles. There’s usually some decent stuff here. |
56 /100 5559 WHARF ST Visiting breweries during COVID is always a bit strange. The place seemed shorthanded, but the service was friendly. Food is pub grub, but I definitely liked the mushroom and pesto flatbread. The beer is for the most part dramatically underhopped and there's balance issues in most of the beers as a result. It's the usual brick and wood vibe, and you can see it being a fun space when they're allowed to open up to full capacity. Look forward to that day, really. |
70 /100 5559 WHARF ST A big and airy brewpub in central Sechelt that was completely packed by the 30 minute mark of being open on the Saturday afternoon I visited. Beers are hit and miss, food is good, prices are about standard for a venue like this. Worth a stop if you end up in the area. |
78 /100 6642 NORWEST BAY ROAD This is a beautiful setting of an apple orchard out in the western fringes of Sechelt. Service was friendly and they have 6 ciders available, though no food. Sadly they have a weird liquor license which only allows them to serve 5 ounces per person, so your stay may very well be short. Hopefully they can fix that. Otherwise the ciders are pretty good and the setting is outstanding. |
52 /100 6642 NORWEST BAY ROAD The big issue here is the licensing, as you can only have a small little sample tray. 12oz per person per day is kind of harsh. Kills the vibe really. So you visit once for the ticks, and then never again. That said, it's in a nice spot, and if they could let you stay, it would be a nice place. Their cider has reasonable distro, but this is still the most reliable place to find them all. |
50 /100 6642 NORWEST BAY ROAD A few minutes north of the town centre, this is a quaint little tasting room. 5 ciders on tap when I visited, available for sampling. You can do flights of 5 for $3, or just have sips of stuff. Super friendly English guy manning the place. Worth a stop if in Sechelt. |
56 /100 Lighthouse Pub (Bar) 5764 WHARF ROAD This is my recommended pub for Sechelt. The main reason, honestly, is the setting. Right on the water, with float planes and a dock, the view is gorgeous. There is a resident seal and a resident heron at this location, for that added touch of nature. The first time I visited, back in 2011, there was basically no craft. Since then, they’ve added seven or eight handles, with Fat Tug and a couple of Persephones being always on. More recently, the owners opened up Foamer’s Folly in Pitt Meadows, so four of that brewery’s beers are available here as well. They aren’t that good or anything, but you seldom see them outside the brewery. Food is pub grub but the pizza wasn’t bad. Overall, definitely not a beer destination, but the coast has few of those. For the unique beer options and the setting, this is the place to go in Sechelt. |
