76 /100 Draft & Vessel (Bar) 4417 N. OAKLAND AVE. Cozy crowdfunded bar in semi-college neighborhood (a little north of UW-Milwaukee student housing). Has more of an open feel in the summer when doors and windows can be opened. Not an enormous tap selection but well designed and frequently rotated. Tap tastings offered and 5-oz pours available for the sampler in us all. Friendly and informative bartenders. |
70 /100 Kensington Liquors (Beer Store) 4496 N OAKLAND AVE Close to Big Bay and my work, I’ve stopped in a few times now. Beer selection is decent with a large shelf of bombers and quite a few coolers of craft beers. Kind of a smaller liquor store and on par with the others in the area. Decent service. |
50 /100 Harry’s Bar and Grill (Bar) 3549 N OAKLAND AVE Not a huge fan of this place and I certainly wouldn’t go here if I was looking for craft beer in Milwaukee. The food is okay but on the spendier side. |
56 /100 Nehring’s Sendik’s on Oakland (Beer Store) 4027 N. OAKLAND AVE. It’s a grocery store with a decent selection of beer, though mostly at higher than average prices. The main attraction here has always been the wall of cheap beer that gets sold for 2.99-3.99 for a six pack, though that wall has been absent on my last two visits. I’ve found RR Bubblejack for 2.99, Great Lakes sampler for 5.99 and plenty of other good deals - that would be a 10 value, the rest of the store a 2 or 3 value. Service would be an N/A since I’ve never seen anyone in the beer aisle. |
66 /100 Harry’s Bar and Grill (Bar) 3549 N OAKLAND AVE Harry’s is a sheik East Side establishment. Excellent burgers and other pub type food. Prices are very reasonable for the location. |
62 /100 Harry’s Bar and Grill (Bar) 3549 N OAKLAND AVE The highlight of Harry’s is the burger selection. Other than that, nothing too exceptional. A bit too trendy for me. |
56 /100 Harry’s Bar and Grill (Bar) 3549 N OAKLAND AVE Decent food, not much for beer that you can’t find elsewhere. This place is owned and operated by the same people who do the Knick (downtown) and Northshore Bistro (northshore.) The Knick’s a better game in town - they’ve got a better atmosphere, better food, more taps and a bigger bottle list. |
58 /100 Harry’s Bar and Grill (Bar) 3549 N OAKLAND AVE Don’t bother with this place - a few micros on tap but otherwise it’s a cookie-cutter bar/grill just with an upscale flavor. |
66 /100 Harry’s Bar and Grill (Bar) 3549 N OAKLAND AVE A somewhat trendy martini bar on Milwaukee’s Upper Eastside...nice relaxed atmosphere though; they allow smoking but was not too bad on a Saturday night. They have about 8 or 9 beers on tap (Sprecher Amber, Flying Dog, Blue Moon, Miller Light....nothing that great) and approximately 35 bottled beers which are mostly BMC stuff but did have Chimay Bleu and a bunch of local micro’s. Not the typical establishment I would patron but it turned out to be a good experience. Beer prices were very reasonable for a place like this (Bottle of Lakefront Riverwest Stein for $3.75) but the wine, martini, and liquors were a bit more on par with the type of bar. |
