80 /100 SKJOLDENVEGEN 3 I more or less agree with Bryne
Outstanding place! Must visit
But it is off course a place you just pop into
And be sure they are open!
I had to go here two years in a row
And at my second visit they just had one beer of their own available
To sit here with a nice beer and look out at the fjord and the mountains are pure magic
The ride down for the mountain scares the hell out of me. But when I have to do it…..
Would gladly visit this place again and again

80 /100 SKJOLDENVEGEN 3 After a scenic (and insane!) drive down from Sognefjellet mountain pass (1434.m.o.h.) to the Sognefjorden, I was more than ready for a flight of beer and food. I had planned a longer stop in the village of Skjolden. Skjolden Hotel is only open during summertime since Skjolden is a dead end in the vinter when the main road over Sognefjellet is closed from September/October to April. There are some, but not many, hotels in Norway that also have a brewery. This is one of them. I found a table at the patio with stunning fjord view. Tasty Angus burger and a flight of four beers from Skjolden. Super friendly service, tasty food and good beers. Not bad! (Visited July 29th 2021) |
