South Norwood Beer Guide: Your South Norwood guide to beer, beer bars, breweries and brewpubs

“Another pub belonging to the excellent "Antic" London owned line of pubs, I have been here many times over the years mostly pre and post Crystal Palace matches (and most recently on a non match day back in Dec 2021) - easy to find located on the main high street near Norwood Junction Station. Nice sized place with the bar straight ahead on entering and allot of seats and tables on the right hand side going back. For any visitor to Antic pubs expect the same kind of beer line up, so a mix of Volden beers plus a good selection of South London plus regional guest breweries across cask and keg. Cask always in good condition on my visits partly due to the high turnover on match days. Your experience/ambience here will be different depending if visiting on a match day or not, but overall both work well service wise which is swift and friendly. Worth a visit when in the area and to tie in with a stop at the nearby excellent Craft Beer Cabin about a hundred meters down the street.“

“Stopped by at opening at midday on Saturday 1st December 2018 on the way to Selhurst Park to witness our 2-0 victory over Burnley. Located close to Norwood Junction train station I’m sure this will become my new must stop when over watching the mighty Palace. This bar is very small and cozy it must be said but does the best it can with the space it has. There is a small bar on entering with 6 taps, 1 cider and 5 well chosen taps on our visit covering mostly local South London brewers. To the left is a massive beer fridge well stocked with all the latest beers from UK based brewers such as Deya/Verdant/Cloudwater etc plus a few foreign numbers. Prices were good and service excelllent and chatted with the friendly Kiwi owner who knew his stuff beer wise, business really picked up closer to kick off and good to see they have a beer tent (to keep the weather at bay) outside on the street which included a small business selling pies and cover for the overspill of punters from the small bar inside. All in all a great spot and one we will definitely revisit when back watching Palace. Note: Card only.“
