“Located outside the downtown area in an industrial park, this place has a large outside patio. Inside with tall ceilings and plant draping over the bar gave it a nice vibe. The staff were nice and knowledgeable. The placed was packed for an event but I still got served quickly. Large number of beers on tap, 3 of the ones i had were decent. Patrons sitting next to me were nice too. will bring others back here soon.“

“Located right next to the Fox river, this place was hoppin as they celebrated their 4th anniversary. They had for 4 days several varieties of some their popular ales. Seating was plenty inside with some outside. We sat on a couch, there was a stage too. We enjoyed the Imperial Stouts we tired.“

“This smaller brewery is tucked in a residential area. Neighborhood establishment for past 5 years, with an eclectic Greatfull Dead hipster vibe. Several beer on selection, we like the Porter as it was to style, the Stout was a little mellow for me.“

“Nice place, plenty of parking, attached to a liquor store and sandwich place to get a bite. Lots of natural light. Very Auto themed decor. Beers I had, had big aromas and were very tasty. The bartender was friendly, and the burgers served to the patrons next to me look yummy. The beer names all have auto themed.“

“A warehouse location but they did a nice job with the interior using old barn wood. Plenty of seating and a smallish bar in the back. Bartenders were quick and seemed knowledgeable about the beer. 12+ beers on tap with flights available. Thought the quality was strong overall. No food on site. Prices were in line with my expectations. Well worth a stop if in the area.“

“Slightly hidden, a bit north of town, in a mixed residential & industrial area. Small but comfortable space, with a unique, covered grain, bar configuration. Friendly staff with Alex as lead, approachable brews, and reasonably priced snacks. Outdoor seating, with food wagons visiting on a regular basis.“

“My regular stop and shop. Service is ok, though they can be pushy and even sometimes rude. Good Beers for sure though. wish they had alittle more, come-on Dan Aykroyd you can do it.“

“Part of a local Chicago chain, this Tap House location has an excellent selection of rotating taps, including some very special beers on draft occasionally. The only place I can recall ever seeing Founders Breakfast Stout on tap. Pluses - monthly beer dinners, excellent bar staff and pretty decent food, along with the excellent beer menu. Minuses - typical "big city" prices and turn off some of those darn TV’s.“

Pub 222 (Bar)
222 W MAIN ST
“222 is a decent place for a few beers and to people watch. Not too crowded except on Fri/Sat evenings and during local sports games. The usual issue with being a wanna-be sports bar. Note to pub owners - DITCH the wall-to-wall TV’s. A lot of people want a pub to be. . . . a pub. Nice outdoor area in-season that’s isolated from the street crowd and noise. One of my favorites for a warm summer night. As far as beer selection, besides "the usual suspects", Guiiness, Hacker-Pschorr Weisen and local craft offerings are available.“

“Binny’s St Charles has a good to excellent selection of craft and import brands. The beer manager is helpful and will take advice on new products. Prices are good and the chain offers a frequent-buyer card which occasionally gets you beer discounts (although it’s more for the wine and liquor). pretty much the go-to store in the mid-Fox River Valley. The Binny’s Algonquin store still has a better over beer selection.“

“Called and they held a beer for me. A pretty decent selection just a little bit more scattered than other Binny’s. They could move all the beer to where you walk in and move the Vodka. Found stuff that I have not seen elsewhere unless they just received it first.“

“Smallest selection out of the few Binny’s I’ve been to by far. Though on the plus side the prices are reasonable unlike the Schaumburg location.“

Home Brew Shop (Homebrew Shop)
225 WEST MAIN STREET
“Great shop, good selection, knowledgeable staff. I have never gone in looking for something and had them not have it. My husband tells me that they are also willing to order things for you if you need something that they don’t carry. They have their own little competitions now and then and teach classes too. Check the website before you go as sometimes they close for a couple days. Thanks, Ed!“

“Visited The House Pub as part of a bar crawl on a lazy Saturday afternoon in June. Creative space use, the House is tucked into what seems to be a space carved out of the Arcada Theater walls. The real draw here is the beer list, which, while it is impressive in quantity, it’s also very impressive in quality. Prices are high but to be expected for the extensive beer selection. I am impressed and will be back.“

“Eat first, they don’t serve food of any kind, but they don’t mind if you order in. The bar is on a corner and there was plenty of parking available in the nearby lots. We took a seat at the small bar with about 10 stools. Despite the large windows, I would still say this place has the "dank" that I like in a good bar. It is an old building and there was plenty of wood and brick. There were a couple of TVs, but not overly intrusive. The music was at a good level that allowed conversation... at least until a band came in later. Behind the bar,the entire wall is a chalkboard menu. They only have 12 beers on tap, with a mix of good and not so good. I prefer draft beer, but the real treat is the bottled beer selection. There must have been over 80 beers. I had some delicious beers from Stone Brewing and Dark Horse. The bartender/owner, Steve took good care of us all night long. It was fun to talk beer with him and it was clear that he liked beer. It is nice to see someone taking a chance on a different kind of bar in this land of yellow beers. In addition to the beer bar room, there is a lounge type of room upstairs with another bar and couches for seating. We were told that they don’t serve the full selection of beer upstairs, just the 12 taps. They are concentrating on martinis and scotch instead. I suppose you could walk down and get your beer yourself. Overall, we had a great time at The House Pub. The beer selection is mostly bottles, but it is better than I have at home. The prices are reasonable, but may seem high if you are not familiar with the beers. I wish there were backs on the stools and a bar foot rail for comfort. I like to hang out for a good long time sipping my beer. I will be back.“

“A quality beer stop for the St. Charles area, but not quite as impressive as some of the other Binny’s locations.“

Home Brew Shop (Homebrew Shop)
225 WEST MAIN STREET
“I truly wish i lived closer to this great homebrew shop. Ed (the owner) is a siebel grad who really knows his stuff, not to mention he’s super cool and always has a homebrew on tap. The selection is second to none, and if you’re just starting out, or getting in to kegging this is a great place to get the equipment and have someone knowledgeable explain the basics to you.“

“I’m excited that we finally got a Binny’s. They seem to have a bead on difficult-to-find brews, however, no luck finding things that aren’t distributed in the United States. Selection seems at least as good as anyplace in town, as well as the prices. I’m happy.“

“About the same as any other Binny’s around the area, except that as of this writing (July 20 2006), since they just opened, they don’t have inventory that isn’t currently available for distribution; in other words, beers that are no longer distributed but might still be in stock elsewhere won’t be found here. This is a problem that will disappear over the next couple months. I’ve been saying for years that there needs to be a Binny’s on the Randall Road corridor, and alas, now there finally is.“

Home Brew Shop (Homebrew Shop)
225 WEST MAIN STREET
“A small homebrew shop in downtown St. Charles, blocks away from my house. On the plus side, they have a very extensive selection of kits. On the downside, I find the owner/operator to be intimidating, and the kit prices are high, as compared to other area home brew shops.“

Home Brew Shop (Homebrew Shop)
225 WEST MAIN STREET
“Absolutely *love* this place! Fairly extensive selection of everything you need for homebrewing & wine making. Shop owner is always glad to share advice & suggestions. Entire staff is very well versed in making everything from beer to mead to wine. Not the easiest to spot as you’re driving by, but they are the best, hands down!!!“

Home Brew Shop (Homebrew Shop)
225 WEST MAIN STREET
“The shop is not much too look at from the outside, but once you get inside, expect to find a wide array of equipment and supplies to brew everything from wine and beer. I even heard them giving advice on how to brew a mead while I was in the store. The amount of brewing equipment was well above average. The amount of malt and hops they had to offer seemed fairly extensive. Since I’m still brewing from extract and kits, I was actually looking for those, and found a number, but could have hoped for a bit more. Still this is the best homebrew store I’ve found so far in the Western Chicago Suburbs. “
