“A large liquor store that had a bit of a discount warehouse feel. Also a large selection of vape pens if that is your thing. Did not really engage the staff beyond payment. A large selection with a decent sized singles area which was nice. Prices were fair. A solid option for a beer store in this area.“

“A busy hopping place with a long bar. Food was tasty but get a reservation, because this place was new, I think word got around making it popular. I must admit 3 out out the 6 samplers were quite above average. The other were decent too. Christian the Brewer has done a good job, and he was there serving guest and answering questions on a busy Labor day weekend. both Stouts were my favorites.“

“Located in the St. joseph city center, this restaurant serves some excellent pub food and has an awesome tap list. I actually canceled my trip to Grand Rapids when I saw the list. There is a nice bar with a dozen stools and 3 TVs. Also a dozen tables and booths downstairs and more seating upstairs and in the patio. Friendly and helpful service and a great burger.“

“A little old and weird, but sometimes you can find the hard to find Michigan beers. Example: They have a lot of Short’s brew co. stuff.“

“I decided to take a half hour detour from our vacation to check out the Liqour Cabinet. I was specifically looking for a few hard to find MI brews. The overall selection was on par with most highly rated beer stops, maybe slightly below par (from what they had on the shelf). If you are looking for something specific or rare just ask. They keep some select beers in the back. Luckily, I did ask and came away pleseantly surprised.“

“Average looking liquor store with a decent selection. A large square display greets you as you walk in the door with a decent amount of domestic singles, plus there’s another display behind it of mostly foreign singles as well. A fair amount of six packs, a lot of Michigan stuff I hadn’t heard of before my trip here, some cold, many others warm. A nice display of bombers too. Price were in-line with what I’d expect. Overall, not a bad excursion after going to the Livery.“

Liquor Locker, The (Beer Store)

“Just a short way off the highway. That the nicest part, the selection is OK, but not spectacular. The staff was nice, and friendly. I asked about a couple of specific beers, and he had never heard of them, nor was he familiar with the term "barley-wine" Oh well, they are really a wine shop, and not a beer store. Like I said, it’s close to the highway, so you can get in, and get out and be on your way, if you need to...“

“A great place. It’s an old musty, dusty kind of wine shop. That is definitely their bailiwick, however, they have a fair amount of beers on hand as well. Their prices are not the best in town, but the people are really friendly. Some of their stock is old, and not in the good, aged barley-wine sort of way.“

“A great find! This store is right down the road from Lambrecht’s Package Liquor (my old favorite in this town). It is a very straight forward liquor store. Hard liquor is down the left, wine in the middle, and beer on the right. Upfront are singles and a box full of 4 and 6 pack cartons. Mostly local craft beers, and a few imports. The Local scene is very well represented here, many Michigan beers were on display; some I had never heard of. Most beers have the Beer Advocate ratings for both users and the bros, ABV and a short description. Behind the singles and the cash register is a large area of bombers and 4/6 packs. Some Lambecs, ciders and Frambios are thrown in as well. Behind that is a series of cooles with most of the same 4/6 packs, and a couple of crafts/imports that are not on the floor. Mixed in the cooler, are the "fake" craft beers (ie. Shock Top, etc) There are also a few coolers full of Macro brews. (They gotta make a livin’ right?) Very clean, very friendly. we talked about cellaring beer for a few minuets, and the owner seems pretty knowledgeable! Overall this place has pretty much anything you could ask for. It rivals the beer stores in much larger towns a little further down the road.“

“There are not many stores at which to buy good beer in Southwest Michigan, and this is perhaps the best place to go. There is a decent selection of Belgian and other imported beers, but the highlight is an exceptional selection of microbrews, particularly from Michigan, Illinois and Indiana. As an additional bonus, the Beer Advocate rating is displayed for most of the craft beers. The owner is friendly and helpful, and the beer section is easy to browse. The only down side is that pretty much all but the bombers and imports are sold in 4 or 6 packs only. Highly recommended store.“

“Easy to find location on corner with free parking next door and park with lake view across the street. Clean location with three sided square bar in the middle and patio in front. Off season mid-day small crowd allowed good contact with freindly staff. Six taps with one in their name brewed by Bells. Good bar menu with a good lunch selection. Good food have a beer location.“

“Visited this place with some relatives, and couldn’t have been happier with it after a ten hour drive. Which is probably why I didn’t notice any of the other customers until later on, after I had had a few belgian ales (see the scene description below). Anyway, a great selection of local bottles, some good Belgians, and really good food overlooking Lake Michigan. I recommend taking your food and drinks out on the patio in the evening, very relaxing if you don’t listen to other people’s conversations.“
