58 /100 CLARENCE RD,
“5 real ales often local microbreweries such as Rother Valley, Hastings, Harveys but also beer from elsewhere such as Taylors Landlord. More a backstreet local than a beer destination, but the beers usually in excellent condition. Is nearby the Dripping Spring and Tower pubs, so a good crawl!“

“5 Real Ales, Harveys Best Bitter plus 4 guests. Was a good pub ten years ago then went through a bad spell but looks good again beer-wise! A few doors from the Tower pub.“

“Best pub in the area beer wise. Quality good due high turnover. Interesting and old favourites like Dark Star feature. Recently gone up to 6 handpumps.“

“We (me, Loz, Isobel & Berry the dog) visited here on Sunday 4th May 2014. This was one of those pubs that was a really pleasant surprise both on the beer and hospitality front. The locals were really friendly and the young barmaid even more so, service with a smile and banter and genuine at that as well. Beer choice was great, there were five beers on cask incl: Dark Star Hophead, American Pale and Six Hop along with one from Burning Sky called Aurora and one further beer I forget the name of. Beer quality was superb in fact the best if the weekend and prices, well a half of Six Hop 6.5% and half of Aurora 4%+ as well as a Lime and Soda all for the princely sum of £3:30, superb! The sunny weather was glorious so we sat outside as there were a couple of small round tables and chairs. However entering the pub the bar is immediately in front of you with with appears to be an open plan design opening out to seating area off to the left and a smaller area to the right, I guess these once would have been a seperate lounge and bar. My only criticism is TV screens scattered about showing the football but it is a small niggle as the beer and welcome were great, easily best beer of the w/e. Btw this only a 1-2 min walk fron the Dripping Spring/Well on Tower Rd, I’ve nit been in that place for 15-18 years (since my last visit to St Leonards) however it used to be a very decent place, so chances are it still is and being so close to each other would make the fair trek from central Hastings even more worthwhile.“
