“Just past the main village area on the up and down road to Colne in Lancashire, this is a fine historic pub that used to be called in the Eagle Inn in centuries past. It is your atypical country pub, with low beam ceilings alongside exposed stonework in the walls coupled with warming carpets, soft furnishings and low level lighting with some clutter for decor. It’s open plan with defined areas, dogs are allowed in the immediate area around the bar which has two regular ales including a special brewed by Goose Eye, and two guests. There’s outdoor tables between the building and the road with the car park to the side of this. Food is a big reason people arrive here.“

“Along from and superior to the villages other pub as its slightly cosier and much bigger. In a similar vein its a traditional pub with soft furnishings with comfortable seating around the main bar area including a wood burning stove between the serving area and window that provides a warming place to sit if its not already been taken. There are a couple of other rooms that are mainly for dining given the larger rectangle tables here but the ambiance is pretty much the same. One of the rooms is an extension although at first glance you would not notice this from the outside as it blends in well with the exterior of the original building, but this is slightly lighter and more airy than the bar area so you can decide to sit here if the darker ambiance is not for you. If you’re not dining then there’s a very good real ale selection here with Yorkshire breweries taking the lion share of the pumps including four permanent and two guest ales. The old pump clips are displayed above the bar and its clear to see they’ve had plenty of craft here in the past. There is a car park with outdoor seating around this with some of the picnic tables offering superb views from the pubs perched position high up in the valley.“

“One of two pubs in the hilltop village of Stanbury, this one is traditional in style sometimes offering food but probably better set-up for drinkers with its collection of small comfortably furnished rooms with the bar area servicing two of these in a central location in the building. There is an emphasis on LocAle here and the three pumps will probably carry craft from West Yorkshire as well as couple of keg brews from Sam Smiths in Tadcaster. The car park at the back also has some picnic tables that offer a view across the beautiful valley.“
