We have continued to visit this place every year that we attend Truck Festival, so following the visit in 2012 we came again in 2013, 14, 15 and again this weekend we (me, Loz, Jude and Kay) visited Saturday 16th July 2016 My review doesn’t really differ from what I put below, you don’t come here for a great choice of beer, it was Loddon Ferrymans Gold and Loose Cannon Abingdon Bridge on this occasion so at least local beers. You come here as I have suggested below to visit a wonderful historic pub. I really like this place.

We were on the weekend of Truck Festival 20-21st July 2012 which was held just 10 min walk and a couple of fields away. I last went here about 7-8 years ago when on a mission to complete all pubs in Oxfordshire in that years GBG so my memories were sketchy. However this place is truly historic and very reminiscent of The Low House, East Anglia, The Sun Inn Leintwardine, The Eagle at Skerne and The Red Lion, Ampney St Peter, truly wonderfully historic pubs with a wonderfully unspoilt interior. I understand much like many of them mentioned this is one of just eleven pubs left in the UK without a traditional serving bar, on a glorious summers day the beer is served from a hatch, or otherwise from a room to the side of the main seating area, all beer is gravity dispense.

Beer choice fine but not terribly exciting for a Freehouse but it has Loddon Hullaballoo, Sharps Atlantic, Wadworths Horizon amongst the selection. Service was great, beer was well kept, for a piece of history then I would thoroughly recommend this National Inventory especially on a warm summers day or cold winters evening.“

“I was in this small village before a jobb interview. The street wasn’t long but had 2 pubs just next to each other and this was the larger of the two. The had a standrad selection from the Wadwoth brewery on cask. Unfortunantly one of the beers was sour and one of them I got the last pint from and was sone a 2 layer pint with much yeast debris in the bottom. The food my frien tried was just a burger but he said it was well made. On the eavning we were there they had a quiss eavning that many of the locals paticipated in and liked. The pub is cosy and has a well protected patio. One quicly notice that the place is really old as you have to watch out for low ceilings, oak beams and see the old fireplaces.“
