82 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Visited August 2023.
Wonderful place in wonderful location. Service was good and the selection was pretty nice, with lots of 6º Degrees North and a couple of guests.
Next one please! |
70 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Nice pub on the harbourside of town. Good selection of beers, with an obvious focus on the 6 Degrees North beers. Food is good as well, staff is very nice and knowledgable. Only downside is the outside seating: we'd love to sit outside on the harbour, but it was very windy and the terrace is situated in the shadow (most people just take their beer across the road to hang around in the sun). |
88 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Still a great oasis. 23 taps with super brews. Classic pub. The over view over the harbor and the North Sea beautiful. |
80 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Lovely old pub looking out onto the harbour. Owned by 6DN brewery and showcasing many of their beers (including on cask which you don’t get in their other bars) as well good selection of keg and cask guests and Belgian bottle beers. Has some generic beers too. Can be very busy. In summer you can take pint outside (one of the more picturesque places to drink). Food quite fancy, specialising in seafood. |
68 /100 Ship Inn (Bar) 5 SHOREHEAD, STONEHAVEN Modernised harbour bar, focused on food toa reasonable extent but with a couple of guest cask ales and some local-ish keg options. |
84 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Decent selection of their own beers (only 6DN outlet where you might see their beer on cask) and unusual (for the area) guest offerings. Nicely renovated old fashioned bar, manages to retain some of the original character. |
66 /100 Fountainhall Wines (Stonehaven) (Beer Store) MARKET SQUARE A nice little bottleshop on Market Square, around the corner from the bus stop were we later caught the bus to Aberdeen. Lots of local Scottish beers but maybe I expected more? Not many strong, dark beers. But, I purchased a couple of special edition bottles from Six Degrees North. Service was ok, friendly but nothing more. (Visited February 4th 2018) |
74 /100 Fountainhall Wines (Stonehaven) (Beer Store) MARKET SQUARE As said by Scopey, a huge improvement on it’s previous incarnation. Decent selection, including limited edition 6Dn, Fierce and Black Isle. |
74 /100 Fountainhall Wines (Stonehaven) (Beer Store) MARKET SQUARE Fountainhall Wines have thankfully taken over the liquor store shop on Market Square in Stonehaven. It is well located right on the main town square. They stock over a hundred different beers on several shelves and in a couple of fridges. There is a clear local/Scottish focus with offerings from Six Degrees North (including the small-batch sour beers), Burnside, BrewDog etc, in addition to UK and world-wide craft. This is a big step-up from the shop which previously sat at this location. Friendly service and decent pricing. A good addition to Stonehaven. |
80 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Came in rather late, not many people inside. Pleasant two room pub. Selection is quite good - 6 casks, 4 kegs from Six North and 7 more, mostly Belgian, kegs. Also good bottle selection. I’d consider it well worth visiting if you’re in the area. |
86 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Picturesque pub located on a quaint street along the waterside. I took advantage of the fine weather and sat at one of the outdoor tables to enjoy views of the harbor as I drank. The beer selection was way above what anyone could reasonably expect from a Scottish village pub. This place is owned by Six Degrees North and showcases an impressive array of Belgian-inspired beer in addition to their own house brews. I sampled Boon Lambik on keg before moving onto 6DN’s Bier De Table. Regional cask selections were also available. While I didn’t eat, the food looked really tasty. Overall, this place marries a fantastic beer list with the comfortable ambiance of a traditional pub. Strongly Recommended. |
72 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD 2014-07-05.Very busy pub downstairs on a Saturday, the restaurant upstairs is much quieter. Modest selection of real ales includes Six degrees, Magic Rock and Orkney today and some draft taps. good bottle list but we were looking for local beers. Food was good. Entrees seem on the slightly higher end of the price range but we have been ordering soups and appetizers most places so my gauge of whats normal UK pricing may be slightly off. Servers were friendly but not entirely on the ball, we didn’t engage much. I suspect that the bottle list is more significant for UK locals than visitors.

60 /100 Ship Inn (Bar) 5 SHOREHEAD, STONEHAVEN Fairly decent harbour side pub, recently renovated a bit. Couple of decent cask offerings, mainly local. |
82 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD The bar with the widest selection of beer on tap, local beer as well as belgians on tap. Tends to get crowded in the weekends, still a must visit. Also some of their own beers, Six Degree North, which was a pleasant surprise. |
64 /100 Ship Inn (Bar) 5 SHOREHEAD, STONEHAVEN Busy local bar right at the charming sea front, 2 real ales on at my visit. Food at the restaurant was good as well. Stayed here for one night at their hotel, recommended place. |
88 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD I’ve visited the Marine Hotel on numerous occasions, so thought I would finally review the place! Traditional, well-kept pub located at Stonehaven harbour. They have a pretty amazing beer selection to be honest. The extensive bottle list is Belgian-focussed. Plenty of sour beers like Boon, Oud Beersel and Cantillon. £12 for a St Lamvinus? Yes please. On tap they have 6 cask and 12 keg lines. Draft beer is Scottish (Fyne, Broughton etc) & Belgian (Dupont, Ellezelloise etc). Recently they opened a brewery in the back so had 3 of their own beers on cask & keg. In addition to the beer they have plenty of whisky, spirits and a restaurant upstairs. Food is rather tasty. Brilliant place all-round. |
78 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD Recently renovated, attractive public bar overlooking the harbour. Extensive continental bottled list, reasonable cask range and due to open it’s own brewery later this year. |
76 /100 Ship Inn (Bar) 5 SHOREHEAD, STONEHAVEN A Picturesque, traditional harbour-front bar/restaurant/hotel with an outdoor seating area. Popular among both tourists and locals. 2 cask ales, usually one from the Inveralmond Brewery. Also more than 100 malt whiskies. The adjacent restaurant, Captain’s Table offers fresh, locally caught fish and seafood. (Visited August 6th 2011) |
88 /100 Marine Hotel (Bar) 9-10 SHOREHEAD This little hotel is attractively sited overlooking the harbour. A public bar with 6 Scottish cask ales and a dining room upstairs. Lovely food and good service.
68 bottled Belgian beers and 22 others from around the world. I had two from Unibroue, Canada. If you like Whisky, Marine can offer more than 120 from Scottland. Stonehaven is easy reached by bus from Aberdeen. (Visited March 12th 2011) |
