82 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Stopped in for lunch on way to airport. Little bit of dive but fits the town. Quite a few cyclists which was cool. Aristide if pizza choices and we’re tasty. Beer I had was pretty good. Enjoyable visit. |
76 /100 1617 N 3RD ST Visited with Jess prior to Winchell's wedding in 2021. A really nice bar that doubles as a taproom for the brewery. Dive character, post-industrial part of town. There was a music festival happening outside and a singer inside as well. Good selection of their own brews. Our favorite spot for beer in Superior. |
66 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Jess and I had a fun time at this brewery before heading over to Winchell and Mary's wedding party in 2021. Large brewpub with an even larger outside seating area in the parking lot. Food was pretty solid and the staff was very friendly. Has a 1990s brewpub vibe that I appreciated. |
72 /100 1617 N 3RD ST We went over the bridge into Wisconsin just to try this Brewpub. Nice big outdoor area outback. A Bluegrass band was playing. They had about 10 of their beers on tap. |
76 /100 Super One Foods (Beer Store) 2202 E 2ND STREET Wanted a place to stock up on Earth Rider brews since I was leaving town before the brewery opened. Pulled in here on a whim. Huge liquor department that seemed totally separate from the grocery store. Big place, about the size of a Woodman's but seemed a bit more upscale. Excellent beer selection. Not so much large format, but a nice BYO section with lots of locals. BYO six pack for $9.99. The place also has cheese and such for sale and a full bar. A little odd seeing locals at the bar at 9AM drinking hard whiskey. Plenty of parking, cashier very friendly. Recommended for ticks. |
66 /100 Super One Foods (Beer Store) 2202 E 2ND STREET Good liquor store in Superior. it is attached to the Super One Grocery Store on Highway 2 and it is probably the largest liquor store in the area. Almost all of the beer is in coolers. A decent selection of singles. It is not as good as Keyport for high end bottles but there is a lot here, as well as anything else you might want to drink. it is Wisconsin so liquor is very expensive. |
80 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Stopped in for pizza and a flight. Just across the bridge from Duluth this place looks divish, but is fine when you walk in. Pizza is delicious. Music in the bar area next room over. Standout beer for me was the Pinta Colada Coconut Milk Stout. |
76 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST A dive bar vibe with a stage for musical talents to entertain patrons, and a small wooden bar. The pizza was good and beer decent. Our server was attentive as we listened to music and watched the locals go about their daily routine. |
68 /100 President Bar & Liquor Store (Beer Store) 3824 E 2ND ST Looks like a drug drop on the outside, ah, but don’t be fooled. When in Superior, WI, this little shop has the New Glarus, Capital, Ale Asylum, Surly (MN), Boulevard (MO), and a fair amount of other great Midwest offerings. The bar is good for what it is. Two Hearted on tap. |
80 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST A pleasant surprise on my first trip to the Duluth area. Housed in a older building, they have two rooms, a dining area and a dimly lit bar area. In addition they have a few tables out front and a beer garden out back where food cannot be ordered. Place looks like it has changed in 20+ years. Service was solid and timely. A surprising number of beers on tap (15+) with samplers available. Food was solid, mainly pizza that I demolished :). Food prices seemed a bit steep but beer seemed reasonable. Like I said, a pleasant surprise and I would definitely hit it again if in the area. |
70 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Stopped in for the first time July 2, 2015. Two rooms, you enter the dining room, but the bar is much more interesting and definitely the place to sit unless you go outside. A surprising number of beers on tap, I have rarely seen more at a brewery, and I am fairly sure it was more than nine. Quality is also surprisingly high for this brewpub that stays under the radar, which I attribute to their infrequent appearance at festivals. Service was friendly. The pizza we ordered was far too large, and I thought the waitress might have told us that, especially after she asked if we also wanted appetizers. Food and beer is expensive, especially considering where they are. Pizza was ok, fairly thick crust and very filling. Bar area is kind of dark, with lamps and the only natural light through the small, high windows of glass blocks. |
40 /100 The Shack Liquor Store (Beer Store) 3301 BELKNAP ST Stopped in July, 2015. Located next to "The Ugly Stick" bar. This place is surprisingly large, given its name. Craft beer is lacking, but what they do have is priced at a good bargain, New Glarus sixers for $8.49, which less than Keyport. Probably the 3rd best store in Superior, after Keyport and President, at least as far as beer, with Keyport being the best by a mile. Service was friendly but offered no help, and I didn’t need any. |
48 /100 President Bar & Liquor Store (Beer Store) 3824 E 2ND ST Small liquor store on the route from Superior to Ashland. This is not as good as Keyport, but it is is the last best store for some time. Wisconsin standards, including New Glarus. Some snack food; frozen pizza, pickled eggs, etc. I have not been to the bar area. |
76 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Maybe the best place in Superior, definitely worth hoping over from Duluth. I really enjoyed the beer and had a really good calzone. Very friendly staff. Sat and the bar and then came back later that evening to eat. Live music in the bar area, ate in the room outside, music was audible but low enough to hold a conversation over. Will be back! |
76 /100 KeyPort Liquor (Beer Store) 1900 BELKNAP AVE New notes, June 2015. Significantly expanded beer selection with lots of crafts. Service is virtually non existent, but this is the best store I know of in northwest Wisconsin. Not all of the beer wasin coolers. Most of the New Glarus and Central Waters was on the shelf. Small selection, but a decent variety of New Glarus including unplugged, Raspberry Tart and Belgian Red. There is not much here as far as craft beer, but I suspect it is the best thing in the area. They offered a New Glarus glass, but were out of stock, so iI took home a beautiful Coors Light shaker. June 2013. Much larger selection. |
70 /100 KeyPort Liquor (Beer Store) 1900 BELKNAP AVE How have I not rated this place in all the years? For the longest time, this was where Duluthians crossed the border to get New Glarus. The store wasn’t much else, lacking things like Tyranena. On my most recent visit, they’ve upped the ante with a Craft Beer Cave and better stocks of craft favorites. I scored a boatload of New Glarus here and can you really beat a $7.99 mixed six pack of New Glarus? |
74 /100 KeyPort Liquor (Beer Store) 1900 BELKNAP AVE Considering the amount of space they have to work with I think they do a good job. I think being near the supermarket helps with business. The new beer cave was a great addition to the store which added room they really needed. Unfortunately hard liquor is usually a liquor stores cash cow which leaves less room for craft beer. Comparing the store to how it was just a few years ago I think it has improved a lot. If Keyport took over the area that the restaurant is in they could probably do a lot more. |
86 /100 KeyPort Liquor (Beer Store) 1900 BELKNAP AVE Pretty awesome selection and the staff is quite friendly. Everything is decently priced, and the same thing goes for their hard-to-find beers. |
70 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Great brew pub and pizza joint. Beer has been brewed at this location for a very long time and it turns a decent product. I did have two enjoyable brews that are not listed on ratebeer; Lawn Chair Ale and the hand-pumped Dark English Mild. |
14 /100 KeyPort Liquor (Beer Store) 1900 BELKNAP AVE The only beer I found out that was new was New Glarus! Other than that beer, it was a waste of my gas going across the bridge! Both Warehouse Liquour & Cash Wise Liquor in Duluth kick butt compared to Keyports poor selection and service! |
68 /100 KeyPort Liquor (Beer Store) 1900 BELKNAP AVE They use to have Dogfish Head available, but no longer. Decent little bottle shop, open on Sundays (big deal if you’re from Minnesota) and a decent selection. Carry New Glarus which is always good and its very near Minnesota |
82 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Mandatory stop if you are in the region. They had 8 or so of their own beers. Some were OK, some were surprisingly phenomenal. Really cool non-mall vibe, great pizza. Can’t wait to go back! |
82 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Great looking old style looking bar with 9 beers on tap. A couple misses but quite a few killer brews, some of the best pizza I have ever had. Staff is super friendly and out going. I will be back when in the area. |
76 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Really cool, neighborhood dive brewpub. Stopped by on a whim, and was very pleased. Knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful staff. |
76 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST At most there are two guest taps, the rest are from the brewery itself. Situated in an old creamery, this quaint brew pub serves superb pizza. Their sauce is wonderful and sausage is made locally and has just the right amount of spiciness. Grab a flight of all 9 beers on tap, a bottle from their decent bottle selection and take a growler to go.
Parking free but on street. Live music in the evenings. Only catch, they don’t open until 4. |
74 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Stopped in on Nov. 17, 2011. Charming is the best way to describe it. Older neighborhood, older building, pretty much a no-frills kind of place. Extremely friendly wait staff, flights available, and I tried 8 taps and 1 cask beer for $6. Great stop. |
74 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Great pizza, always great music. A good experience, and nothing overwhelming. First visited in 2008. |
80 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST I love this Brewpub. If you are there during the day, the bartender/brewmaster is always willing to talk beer. If you’re there at night the place will be packed with a variety of people nuveau hippies, punkers, suits, blue collar etc. semi accoustic music, usually blues or folk. and GREAT pizza. As for beers, there’s something for everyone, my favorites are the burntwood black and, when available, the barley wines. Stop, Sample, and bring your growler. |
70 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST I loved the atmosphere here and the service was great. I sat at the bar and there was a live band playing what sounded like local folk music. The beer was pretty good as well. The bartender was very accommodating. |
74 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Located in an old creamery building, it is loaded with old beer signs, and beer memorabilia. It is definitly not your run of the mill cookie cutter brewpub with shiny kettles and fancy tap handles. No, this place is loaded with character and interesting crowds which can change in a second. Local musicians, artists, hunters, and even goverment officials have been know to frequent the place. The staff and brewer are always excited to talk about beer and the passion they have for the industry is evident. They had 7 or 8 of there own beer on tap, including the fresh tapping of there Octoberfest beer. The rest were a nice variety ranging from there "Ultra Fat Ass" lo-carb beer, to a Dark roasty brew called Burntwood Black. This place is definitley worth trying if you are in northern Wi. and need some craft beer. Just walk in with a smile on your face and a thirst |
58 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Venue is reminiscent of hanging out in an midwest barn/house/etc where your friends gathered in teenage years to party. Atmosphere is very laid back... Live music (blues) was playing at the time I visited. Staff was very friendly and even passed out cookies while I was there to help absorb beer- I assume. Food was markedly the pizza variety but included tasteful vegetarian options. Nice place to visit if you are in the area but beer not really comperable to Fitgers just across the river. |
54 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST You need to go into this place with a special state of mind. Don’t expect your run of the mill brewpub. This is for Superior residents. The beers waver, but there’s some gems if you can find them. |
64 /100 1623 BROADWAY ST Holy crap does this place ever define ’dive’. It has the 50’s junkyard theme going on. Their regulars are in the ’okay’ range and some seasonals make you want to poke your eyes out, but then they go ahead and make some really damn fine brews. If you’re spending time up in the area, it’s worth a hit once. |
