“Great place, with solid beers to taste. We couldn’t spend much time before they closed for the night (hunting season was on), but the service was great, they gave us some nachos, and sold us some nice bottled IPAs to take to our cabin. We’ll return if we are in the area.“

“I go there for kayaking weekends but the beers that I had were flawed and overall uninteresting, nice atmosphere but the other rafting company down the road served SAm Adams and Shipyard which were far better than what was offered here. I had a porter which heavily disappointed me and tried some others that were created with little or no thought going into them.“

“An unassuming facade in the middle of a northwestern Maine forest with a sign that boasts "Fresh Beer". A snowmobiler’s hideout in the winter, this wooden lodge is also the home of a tiny brewpub whose beers you can get at the bar in the center of the vast main lodge area. All are somewhat amateurish, the Hazelnut Brown being the most flavorful I got when we visited. Pints are served in mason jars, which is interesting for about 2 seconds, and then mostly don’t feel good on the lower lip, as well as being ugly. The restaurant’s food is typical, simple American pub fare with no particular flare, whilst remaining filling if you’re hungry (and don’t mind fat). The lodge rooms upstairs are noisy but very spacious. Even though they are clean, they feel like they haven’t been refurbished in 25 years; leaking faucet in the bathroom, torn lampshade, cardboard-thin walls, worn mattresses, etc. The hot tub to which you can bring your brewpub beer is particularly welcome. But the only beers you can bring there are Kennebec River’s, so just enjoy the tub for what it is. A nice place for snowmobilers in winter (and rafters/canoers in summer), but definitely not a craft beer lover’s sanctuary.“
