“Italian restaurant meets part time brewery I guess. 2 guys knowing nothing about a brewery but saying their restaurant opened at 6 o'clock on a friday. Probably the weirdest experience of most on my trips in Germany. I bought the Haberstumpf Dunkel from a fridge to go. 4.50 Euro and the beer had already expired. They didnt have change so I actually paid 5. This was beginning of April - 2023. We made Quite a detour coming here as their Zwickl had been on my want list for years. Major disappointment.“

“Visisted 04.08.21 after walking from the Deutsches Dampflokomotiv-Museum. There is an outlet at the brewery that is open during daytime, where one can buy bottles and drink beer from tap. At my visit they had the excellent Haberstumpt Hell on tap, and I enjoyed a few glasses of that together with the regulars. There is also a restaurant that is open in the evenings. The place is a 15 minutes walk from the Trabgast train station.“

“Visited September 15, 2016 - Spectacular view of fields and forests in the biergarten above the village of Trebgast. I loved the Zwicklbier vom Pils, a super dark-straw to gold coloured, mildly bitter pils with a whiff of weiss. The Helles Vollbier and Schwarze were also lovely. The Vollbier in particular is lighter in colour, filtered, and would make a fine session beer. Wonderfully fresh! I ate a Bräuschänke Klassiker Krüsdla, a spicy hot flatbread with the works! Super friendly hosts, and one of my happiest evenings in the beer world. You can get to Trebgast via DB train, and there is a guesthouse in the village itself, for anyone thinking of an authentic Frankonia / Bavaria adventure in the countryside. Very Highly Recommended.“

“Tucked up on the hillside, I drove up at night and the place didn’t even look open. Little signage or activity to notice from the parking lot. Inside it was a different story, as they have recently remodeled and opened a warm and welcoming taproom to host visitors. The draft Zwickelpils was quite good, but the bottles that I took with were appalling, every one smelling and tasting like toothpaste, among other problems. I want to really like this place, the town is charming and the daughter of the family, who brewed the Zwickel, was a great host. If they could just figure out their bottling problems, and offer more of their beer on tap, I’d make a stronger recommendation.“

“Behind the church, on the hill, so quite a climb from the station and the centre of this nice village north of Bayreuth. No Gaststätte, but a small pub annex shop. The one place where you can try the Zwickl, the unfiltered Helles, which in itself is worth the trek up the hill. In good weather there will be some benches in the yard where you can drink the beer. Update: a bar and beergarden have been added, short food menu.“

“Little brewery on the edge of the little town of Trebgast, a bit - as the Bergstrasse already explains - up the hill from the centre no brewery tap, but a brewery shop is on the premises of this old fashioned brewery. The whole range of the Haberstumpf beers is sold, plus some fruit wine and other oddities. Friendly staff.......“
