“(Visited Feb 2024) Beer bar and restaurant centrally located in Utrecht. Interior is a bit industrial, in a homely way. Up to 30 taps, many from Frontaal, and the rest from other interesting craft brewers from around the world. Very good food. Swift and friendly service. Well worth a visit.“

“Visited in October 2022. Thought I rated this place already, but apparently not. Large modern place at the ground floor of a residential apartment building, quite a bit out of the city center. Huge bar in the middle of the place, surrounded by stools and plenty of picnic tables. Nice selection of Oproer beers and some guests, aLeo available in flights. Food is vegan food, really well done and tasty. Service was friendly, knowledgeable enough and efficient. Certainly worth a detour.“

“Nice beershop with a fairly large selection. The fact that they had placed all local beers together made it easier to find what I was looking for. An efficient and pleasant quick stop.“

“Visited on a very quiet friday afternoon. Nice place, tables and chairs positioned around a large bar at one side. Bottle Logic on tap at the moment...! Very friendly, English speaking staff. Nice atmosphere, good music. Besides the bar there is a refrigirator with good beers (Frau Gruber, Buxton, The Kernel, Ten Men etc), but who needs that with 30 draft beers? Nice selection of own Frontaal and guest beers. Not cheap indeed, but worth a visit know and than.“

“Self service system means it's excellent for ticks - tried 30 beers for 15 Euros. Nothing overly exciting, and no idea what the rotation is like. A rare find in the fact that it actually opens early, and it opens on a Monday!“

“Frontaal's brewpub with 30 beers on tap - around half of them are thir own beers and rhere are beers from other craft breweries all around the world (for instance, currently they hae beers from alefarm, but also 2 feom mad scientist - with appropriaze glassrs); if you are a beer fan. You would definitely want to visit this place“

“Visited twice by now. Inviting decoration and atmosphere. Excellent tap lineup, a good mix between their fine Frontaal beers and interesting guest beers from outstanding European breweries. Friendly service, eager for a chat about the beers or whatnot. Pub food available, you can compile your own meal by including various side dishes. Cool place, but like Borresteijn said, not cheap.“

“Small shop but that's not a problem! Varied assortment of craft beers, mostly European with some US stuff in the fridge. Plenty of cooled beers ready for takeaway. The guy behind the counter was not talkative at all, but I'll return to see if that changes. Overall great little shop.“

“Interesting large historic manor house on a canal in the city centre which brews it's own beers. It's mostly a upmarket restaurant with lots of outside seating. There are a number of bar seats which to enjoy the 6 or so of there own beers. Friendly staff.“

“Pleasant brewery plus brewpub off the beaten track between the old city of Utrecht and the new part in the west. Placed in an old farmhouse at a demarcated piece of green between the new buildings. Spacious brewpub with a small outside terrace, serving a limited selection of local beers and some easy food. The brews include their own brews on draught (not bottled) plus various beers from their founding father De Prael, plus some general ones. Food is a bit old-fashioned choice but still fine quality and quite cheap. Nice atmosphere and very friendly people. Not the greatest beer selection, but a very pleasant place.“

“In a small exterior unit of the main station, so no ticket is needed to access this shop, it has a fair selection of brews in fridges, and certainly enough to tide you over for a long train journey out of the city. Much of the space however is given over to other forms of alcohol.“

“Fun small place off the beaten path with little direct sunlight. Recently bought by a brother & sister in the late twenties who are super friendly and knowledgeable. About 8 seats at the wooden bar. 5 small tables that can be reserved ahead of time. About 8 beers on tap with a nice mix of styles from EU countries. Very nice bottle list of bottles of Dutch and other EU beers. Great place with tons of charm. I will be back.“

“Visited on a Monday, late afternoon/early evening. Nice looking modern taproom, 2 storeys of tables and seats, all in black metal and wood with some neon signs. Classic rock in the background. Friendly waitress, asking for feedback on the beers, I like that. 25 taps with their core range + a lot of (tap only?) specials. Had a decent Czech Pils, excellent Black Lager and mediocre pastry stout. Their beers never amazed me so far, but are usually decent to good. The fact that they have specials here will definitely make me return. Had a veggie burger which was really good btw. Prices are steep for guest beers (cans), but their own range was decently priced (albeit on the high end of decent). Good vibe, too bad there were no other visitors. On a dreary Monday, mind you.“

“Visited on a Sunday afternoon. The idea was that this would be our starting point of some sort of pub crawl, but we ended up spending the entire afternoon and start of the evening here. Located in a shabby neighbourhood, located at an industrial site, the first impression isn't grand. The brewpub itself isn't very big, but looks enormous because of the high hall it's located in. To the right is the long bar and view of the brewery itself. High and low tables and seats make up for ample seating. Colors and artwork from their cans on the wall, looks nice. Service was very friendly and knowledgeable, beers ranged from decent to great, overall very good. Plenty of ticks for me, lots of new stuff as well, had to add 8 of their beers or so to the site. Decent pub food available, had a nice satay and decent burger. Don't know about the prices, my buddy paid, but would certainly pay another visit to this place.“

“Visited on a Friday evening, just around dinner time. Nicely decorated bar, warm atmosphere, has a small restaurant vibe. Upon entering you see the bar on the left, with mainly round tables and chairs around it. In the back is a small room with the fridge with canned beers, large table, and view to the kitchen. It was relatively full, even though they only opened 2 days ago. 30 beers on tap, many of their own Frontaal brews, but also quite some guest beers. Prices were very steep, €10 for a 15cl Cloudwater TIPA or Hop Hooligans RIS is a little eye-watering. Anyway, plenty on offer, decent service, didn't try any food. Went in for a quick beer and glance, will certainly pay another visit, armed with a thick wallet.“

“Pretty spacious bar located in the city center. Upon entering we paid a deposit and got the cards which are to be used on self pouring station with bunch of taps. Girls working there were kind and explained the system very well. I've checked the tap list online upfront and while solid number of usual suspects were on the list there were plenty of interesting craft beers to choose from. This turned out to be misinformation. I'd say half of taps were without beer at all. Rest of them had combo of macros (Heineken, Stella), hard seltzers, big craft like Brewdog, Pinta, De Molen and lower quality brews from smaller craft breweries. Very limited in terms of interesting styles and condition of beers was dubious. Their system is foaming a lot so it's not that easy to pour yourself a small pour. Interior is very bright and there is a weird light in one corner of the room which simulates the daylight. Obnoxious pop music. Seems to popular with students and teenagers. One of the biggest disappointments of 2021, had to apologize to my friends for dragging them in here. I guess you can visit for some cheap ticks, but I wouldn't recommend.“

“Spacious place with medium sized bar room and some more tables upstairs. Unfortunately the bar did not seem like a good place to sit, but that may be connected to pandemic. Large bar with the open kitchen in the back. Plenty of taps, they seemed to be focused on Dutch and Belgian beers. Some classics, some sub-par newer styles, but also a tap takeover from Korenaar which I liked. Some special bottles as well, somewhat pricey though. Food looked really good. someting like modern bistro food. Kind and knowledgeable service. I've really liked the place.“

“The brewpub is located on a industrial area and payment with card only. They have their own beers available. The service was good (in EN) and the food was also good. The ambience was nice (went during the day and there is a nice "beergarten" to enjoy the good weather, if that's the case).“

Kwestie van Smaak (Beer Store)

“This shop is mainly focused on other alcoholic drinks, but they do have a small amount of beers. Visited this shop about a year ago because they had some of the big (75cl) bottles of De Kromme Haring that were harder to find elsewhere at that time. They had a few more beers than mentioned in their web shop, but nothing special. Not worth a visit for beer unless you're just looking for one of these or have a quick look combined with visiting next door Taplokaal Gist. Prices are a bit steep. Service is ok. Payed parking in the neighbourhood, easy reaching by train, next to station Utrecht Vaartsche Rijn“

“Pretty small shop but nevertheless a good assortment of craft beers. Biggest collection of local beers I've seen in shops in or around Utrecht. Big fridge for cold beers. Four crowlers, changing frequently. Quite some beers that are harder to find. Very friendly owner, knowing the stuff he sells. Good service. Prices are ok. Walking distance from Utrecht CS, although it takes around 15 minutes. Visit recommended.“
