| 80 /100 289 MARE ISLAND WAY “Wow this place is cool. Literally at the ferry terminal in the same building. A few feet away is the harbor with boats arriving and departing. Across the 100m channel are larger freighters being unloaded. 12 beers on tap. Same beers as other locations. Very nice.“ |

| 62 /100 289 MARE ISLAND WAY “Mare Island Brewing Company seems to have done everything right: good craft beer types, a good pub menu with a California influence, local decor and a great website taking pride in the rich history of Mare Island and the shipyard, and most of all, a great location. But somehow it all comes together to be just a bit less than the sum or its parts, and that’s most noticeable in the beer. It’s a good selection of craft favorites, but nothing seems too outstanding. Don’t get me wrong, it’s a fun, friendly place where sailboats cruise up and down the straight, outdoor seating is pleasant and comfortable in the Vallejo climate made cooler by the proximity to the water and the waterfront brings out lots of people walking, fishing and enjoying one of the nicer parts of Vallejo and the upper east bay.“ |
| 74 /100 289 MARE ISLAND WAY “Wasn’t sure how to find this place initially with my GPS acting funny. Basically, it’s in the ferry terminal building as a little outpost in the corner. There is a parking lot here, but it’s probably going to be full. I just parked on the street about a block away which was just fine.
They had seven house beers on tap. Most of them were pretty good, which I was not anticipating. Their pale ale in particular was pretty nice. Good service, plentiful seating. Didn’t eat the food, but people seemed to think it was good. Pretty cheap beers as well. They are doing some nice things here.“ |

As of now theu have only had a soft opening so theres still a lot they havent gotten too yet. So ambiance, this place gets a 6 lol, amazing location, once the 360 degree third story balcpny is open it will be even better. The views of the water, the sunset, etc, the decor and space, i am really loving it! Service, i gave a five, they are just opened, service at the bar only, it was busy last night and it can take a few minutes to get a beer, but i exoect this will change as they get regular hours and a full staff, right now the owner is the one pouring the beersfor ya haha. Food, they need to work on. I mean its a taproom and some munchies were an afterthought, they do not have a full kitchen or hood. They do offer sausages and brats and olives and munchies, but they are pretty pricey imho. Not insane but not a deal either, hopefully they will iron that out and get some more approachable items to snack on. Selection,.this shouod be going up as well. They have 16 taps i believe, they have their four beers and two guest beers including a cider on tap, i hope to see more variety from them filling the taps shortly. They also have a small but neat little bottle program going and its already the best beer atore in vallejo lol, knee deep, out of bounds, maui brewing six packs, a couple ciders, 101 north, etc, for there or to go, and prices are a couple dollars higher than a bevmo but still fair for a retail location, i expect more bottles and tap beers to pop up soon. Overall its a good value, beer prices are fairand for twenty bucks you can get set pretty much. Overall this is amazingly epic location worth checking out, the beer is solid but not elite, and its a really comfortable place to hang out for several hours. Gets a good crowd of locals too, i am always meeting new and nteresting people here. Cant wait for it to get really rolling! Cheers!
Re rate #1: they have added a locally made pizza that is really good, big step up for sure, and obly place outside of the restaurant to offer the pizza. More beers coming on tap. Place is shaping up nicely.“ |
