| 76 /100 Carrefour (All Taiwan Stores) (Grocery Store) / “A supermarket that is actually super. Shopped at the Taipei mart that is 3 storeys of freaking everything. Alcohol, for the modest drinking Taiwanese, is in abundance like a delicacy, alongside fish bladders and tripe of all types available on the first floor just before the checkouts. Great selection of wines, single malts and South east Asian spirits as well as a lot of rebranded Belgian ales, and local ales and lagers. Wiled many hours away in this store. Also has a selection of restaurants upstairs to keep a few non-shopping lads or ladettes happy. Super cheap, super fresh beer. A must for Taiwan visitors of this European chain!“ |
| 80 /100 Poya International Co. (Grocery Store) 123 LOCATIONS THROUGHOUT TAIWAN “Came across one of these stores on Hai’an road, Tainan after stumbling home to our hotel in the west district. If you expect to find screw driver sets next to tampons and other female hygiene products then these stores are the penultimate. Clean, great service - as is typical of the Taiwanese - and well stocked it does have an alcohol section wedged, quite brilliantly between the confectionery aisle and the hot sauce, come instant noodle aisle. Three birds, one stone! Mostly imports from Korea, China and Japan, but at great prices I was impressed and stocked up my hotel minibar to the brim. A great choice of Vietnamese, Thai, Cambodian, etc. imports also so stocked well now with G7 Vietnamese coffee. Good value for a few rates!!!“ |
