“This brewery is located in a charming late 19th century building in an area otherwise dominated by the North Jersey hellscape (wide roads and chain stores). Inside, is a relatively small but comfortable taproom with couches and tables. About 10 beers were available on tap. Inside you can get flights, but outside only plastic cups were available, which limited my ticking as I had to go outside as there were no tables inside. No food is available inside, but you can bring your own from elsewhere. Bartender seemed to know what he was talking about and was pleasant enough. Never heard of this place until we randomly looking up places en route from Chester, NY and were really glad to find it.“

“The brewery is located in an old house with different rooms to sit in and an outside beer garden. They had a nice selection of beers and they were all quite good. We did two flights and then grabbed a couple of cans to go.“

“Visited a little after opening on a Saturday. This is a great spot. Current set-up is a big tented beer garden outside (maybe 20-25 tables?) that is both kid and dog friendly. Outside service is only full pours in plastic cups (no short pours / flights). Inside is a nice tap room (currently 21+ only), really cool looking place with lots of unique features for a tap room (no metal tables or edison bulbs in sight). Almost has a lodge type feel to it. Glasses and flights / short pours available inside. As for the beers, I was really impressed. This was my first time trying anything from them, and every beer I had was well made. To-go options included 3 or 4 of them available by the 4-pack, and everything on draft for growler and crowler fills. Service-wise, we sat outside, and the guy working the beer garden area was really friendly and knowledgeable about the beers. Just a cool spot overall, and one I would like to revisit next time I'm in the area.“

“Modern bar with TVs but relatively quiet on Saturday afternoon. Good local tap selection but nothing crazy. Food is standard pub fare.“

“Went for special Bolero Snort release. Big store with lots of wine. Good selection of sake. Beer is smaller but a few I haven’t seen elsewhere in NJ.10 percent discount if you buy more than six larger bottles which is nice.“

“One of my weekly stops. Just my kind of atmosphere; a quiet place where I can sit down at the bar on a Tuesday or Wednesday and have a few beers with a couple buddies. They have about 25 beers on tap, and the lineup changes frequently enough. Their tap takeovers are always good. Food is OK, decent dinner if you want to sit down in the restaurant for a meal. Not quite the Shep or Cloverleaf in terms of selection, but overall a good place to get some craft beer on a quiet night.“

“Gary’s has a nice selection of beer, and their beer staff is very helpful when around. decent value if not a bit overpriced, but worth it for the large selection of warm and cold beer, 4packs, 6 packs and bombers. My only complaint is a few times I asked for specific beers they told me that had in stock and then went into the back room and told me they were sold out, not sure if I am not a VIP or if they were truly sold out, but it certainly was disappointing to show up and not get said beers. Overall an above average store.“

“Bottle King has a pretty good selection, I have also been able to score a few tough to find beers like Game of Thrones, 120 Min IPA, and W00tstout there. They seem to have a good stock and selection at most times.“

“I come here for 12 packs often. They have a pretty good selection of craft beer 12pks and at a fair price, too. I don’t really bother with 6pks or bombers, I can find them cheaper somewhere else.“

“Great place to stop in if you’re looking to quickly grab a 6 pack or a single bottle. They have a decent selection, but nothing too special or rare. The beer selection has grown from when I first started going there though. Prices vary, some are fair and others are too high. When there is a beer associate there, they’re usually pretty helpful. I have recently met Kyle, and he’s always recommending me some great stuff and always asks how I liked the beer. Very personable.“

“I’ve been here a couple times, and this definitely isn’t a place to go hang out and drink at. If you’re looking to sit down and have a nice dinner with a beer, you should! The food is pretty good. I’ve had a couple appetizers and salad, it was tasty. I went for their "Belgian Week" and it was just alright, nothing that blew me away. Not my first go to place for craft beer, but I’ll return for any cool tap takeovers or the NJ craft brewers night.“

“Great wine and craftbeer shop. Of their 3 stores this is their newest and the flagship. It is big and tastefully appointed. The cold cases are many but the craft beer shelf seems a bit smaller than years ago. This is a great place for wine obviously as well as gourmet food and great sandwiches...but as a craftbeer source...although it used to be my go to...it is no longer the best in the area...that would clearly be Liquor Outlet Wine Cellars. Gary’s could be as good...they certainly have the ability...I just think from a business standpoint they choose to focus on wine. They should reconsider and match the beer offerings to the high level of their wine offerings.“

“Really not a bad place...this establishment has gone thru many iterations...somehow it feels this is just the latest...but I give them credit for their efforts so far with craftbeers. The food is actually very decent. But although it’s hard to put my finger on it...this place has a ways to go to reach the level of other North Jersey craftbeer bars like Shepard & the Knucklehead (not comparing tap count here of course)...Mohawk House...Cloverleaf Tavern...Morris Tap & Grille...etc. They also need a bigger bar...too small for 24 taps. This is my biggest gripe actually. Why put in so many taps when there is no place to sit. If I get here at 5:30 on a weeknight I’m still usually standing...and there is really no place to stand either...without getting in the way of the waiters and the path to the rest rooms. On the other hand...they have been doing some great tap takovers of late. The recent one with Kane was amazing. They had 14 Kane beers including bourbon barrel aged versions of both Head High and Overhead...not to mention Solitude on the hand pump! If they can just get more seats and the traffic patterns worked out this could be a very decent craftbeer destination.“

“Standard crafts on tap, nothing out of the ordinary. Barmaids are not too knowledgeable about the beer. Food is so-so. A good date place. Thsi is just an ok place, but for a beer geek like me, I’d rather spend my $ at the Shepherd, Coppermine or Andys.“

“Restaurant has changed hands frequently, new owners have put a dedication to craft beer and the draft list is frequently rotated.

Update2: Beer selection has stayed pretty good, some good events but your more likely to find a rarer beer on a given night now.“

“Rather big place, clean and well lit. Definitely a store focused on wine and liquor but they do maintain a nice selection of beer. Nothing that I was blown away by or shocked to see, but considering how I’ve seen some wine and liquor stores do beer, they did quite well here. The sake selection was what I was more intrigued by, and we did leave here with a bottle. It’s on the way to a place we go in NJ every few months so I’m sure we’ll be stopping back in again.“

“Love this place. Great selection of beers and spirits alike. Noticing more and more they are incorporating more craft beer into there refridgerators. Deli looks great and has alot of different choices for food! They will even get your order together if you order it online. Great customer service as well! Personal favorite store of mine! “

“This place has a great selection of craft beer, macro-brews and wines. This is a relatively new store (renovated I think in 2007), so the ambiance of the entire place is great. They have a five tiered shelf, about 20 feet long of several types of craft beers. I spoke with Scott, who was very knowledgeable about many of the beers that they offer. I asked him to help me choose an imperial stout, and he was very helpful. He was also subjective in telling me some of the beers that he did not care for. He was able to point out specific characteristics of the beers, like specific flavors, which I definitely appreciated. The funny thing was when he informed me that he was not even the "main" beer guy at the store, whose name is Todd. He described Todd as a beer dictionary. As far as service goes, it was a great experience. Regarding food, I’ve only been there about four times to purchase sandwiches, but each one I’ve had was excellent. They also have a large selection of crackers, dips/spreads, etc., not to mention one of the largest selections of cheeses on the planet (maybe an overstatement, but the selection is still huge). Although it’s not a restaurant, I was very pleased with the food they offer. In terms of value, they always have sales, especially on wine. I can’t speak much for their value with regard to beer, simply because I have not had the opportunity to do many price comparisons. With that said, I thought their craft beer prices were both fair and not excessive. Overall, this is a great option to buy craft beers as well as pick up a sandwich for lunch or dinner. I highly recommend visiting this store. I’m sure you too will have a great experience!“

“Found a bottle of Squall and Southern Tier’s new 2XIPA. This is a neat, clean, and well organize place. Lots of wine and cheese. Beer is somewhat of an afterthought. But the selection is decent.“

“Beer is overpriced. That being said, the selection is decent. Not amazing, by any means, but they do have most of the stuff one might be looking for. Might even find something a bit on the unique side, such as Moylan’s or Uinta. Service is good, the checkers get you in an out with a smile and it’s basically a nice place to shop in. I stop in from time to time, because when they put something on sale it can be a good deal, but most of the time, a sixer will be at least $1-1.50 higher than anywhere else in the area. And the bombers can sometimes be a couple of dollars higher. Rather shop somewhere cheaper and get more tasty brew for my hard earned cash.“

“Garys has a good selection of 750’s and Bombers, a nice organized set up, and a clean new location. I stop here frequently but only when I am passing by. For all the space they devote to beer their selection is actually very small. In particular they have a limited supply of micro/craft brews and locals brewers. Instead of using floor space on 5 cases of 40 different brews, they have 20 case of 10 different brews. So while certainly worth a stop on your way by, espeicially for there over sized bottle selection, you can get a bigger selection in the area very near by.“

“Stopped in Valley Wines and Spirits to see what they had. It was a interesting mix of poor organization, bored employees, and a pretty good beer selection. We went in and to the back for the beers. They have the mass market beers and major imports in the fridge. The micros/craft brewers were shelved on the floor. Oddly, 1/3 of the fridge was empty, so why not cool some of the craft beers? There is no logical organization to the craft beers. In some areas they are sorted by brewer, others areas by type, and other areas by no logical design. It took a long time to get a feel for what they had. After I looked at what they had, they had a lot. In particular I like that they break out 12 oz singles, so I can inexpensively try new beers. There are quite a few craft brewers represented, and a good selection of 750’s. I thought the cost was slightly higher than the area competition. I will go back, mostly because it is convenient and for the selection of 12 oz singles. Could be a really good beer stop, but they would have to make an effort.“

“ Nothing special here. Beer is in back, highlighted by stacks of the standard fair, and a good sized cooler. There are is a limited amount of European imports, and a selection of the most established area craft breweries (Dog Fish Head, Troegs, Long Trail, Magic Hat, etc). Prices were slightly more than I am used to paying in the area except for the sale items from the major breweries. I might stop in if it was on my way, but wouldn’t make a point to go there. There are much better choices in the area. “

“This is by far the best store I’ve ever been to in my search for craft beer. This place is amazing. They have an entire section dedicated to singles, bombers, and magnums. A whole wall. I nearly cried. I took pictures to cheer myself up with when I feel depressed. But that’s nto all, there’s also an entire refrigerator on the far wall with a few bottles and lots of 6-packs and cases. I also spoke with one of their beer guys, can’t remember his name, but he was a true craft beer fan who is always hanging around restocking the shelves and shooting the crap with beer guys. They DO have food at the bar there but I was too busy drooling over the beers. Prices are pretty average but the selection is so good that I always spend way too much money in this place. If you are into craft beer you MUST check this place out, you won’t be disappointed. I buy all of my craft beer here.“

“I go there alot at least once a week. The store seems like it has been improving over the past month or so, they even started selling sinlges again on top of having a decent bomber selection. “The selection at Valley is above average and pricing is good on most items, but stock can sometimes be rather old. The staff is totally clueless........about beer AND basic retail skills. Items rarely ring up for the right amount and your checkout experience can be a total horror story. Management needs to get this place in check. Valley used to be decent, now I recommend avoiding it like VD. (Update: They’re now allowing singles and have been weeding out most of the moronic employees.....unfortunately, it looks like it’s too late, from the amount of empty shelf space, I’d say this place is on borrowed time.)“

“Definitely no singles allowed here, which is sad as they had a good selection of six packs. Not so many big bottles. Can get Yards, Weyerbacher, Hannsens lambics, Troegs, Victory, a bunch more. Prices are very low. They need to step it up and allow singles.“

“I was looking for a bottle shop here in my area that would allow me to buy singles out of 6 packs. Called them and asked them if that is allowed. The guy on the phone said yes, we do allow that. After doing about 30 minutes worth of shopping and having a handbasket full of singles, The cashier and manager gave me a dumbfounded look when I went to ring up my order, like I was on crack. So it was a complete waste of my time. To make a long story short, the workers have no idea of what is going on there.“

“This place is great. They have a lot of different beers and a LOT of great ones. I highly recomend this place but be warned: The kids at the register are INCOMPETENT. I bought a 12 ounce bottle of something they sold in a six pack and got charged for the six pack. Didn’t notice until I was home in Maryland. Just check your stuff. But if you are in North Jersey this is THE place to go for beers.“

“This place is huge! I don’t know of a place in North Jersey that has a wider beer selection than here and the prices are decent. Its also in a prime location and is pretty busy, which should insure a high turnover rate. Their web-site doesn’t have a beer list (though they do have a wine list) but if you type the name of the beer you’re looking for in their search feature, it will let you know if they carry it and also give you a price. If you buy wine, sign up for their free club card (unfortunately, Its never good for beer). Bonus: If you go on a Saturday afternoon, there is usually a free wine tasting featuring about four different wines.“
