“Free dedicated large parking lot. The beer is on the back left. Nobody back In this area, even for the taps at the time of my visit. There are some singles, but limited selection. No bomber or 750’s. I bought one can. Not a beer destination. Pricing seemed going rate.“

“Free parking on one side. Medium sized bottle shop with some taps. Lots of singles. Prices seem a bit high. Service was good, they would break up six-packs if I asked. Good bottle selection, high end selection available during my visit.“

“Parking I found was on the street a block away on a late Sunday night, so somewhat challenging. L-shaped bar on the right booths and tables on the left, there is a glassed off area which they may open up in the summer. Decor is similar to other Mellow Mushrooms, but more modern perhaps. Service was pretty good. I had the pretzels and mighty meaty, both were good. Lots of taps with pretty good selection, and some bottles/cans.“

“Big free parking lot in front. Big selection of singles and it seemed almost everything. New releases up front. Staffed fairly well, so you could ask for help if needed. I would come back.“

“Free on the street parking (both times I went easy parking) newer nice commercial area. Good size L-shaped bar, tables, and booths along the windows. Not busy during our visit and service was good. Draft selection was pretty good ~30, limited bottle selection. The pizza was good (I had 4x4, meat).“

“Medium size parking in the back, did not find this difficult. Two rooms, the first room has wine, home brew stuff, and refrigerated six-packs. The second room has mostly singles and a small bar. Service was well above average. Bottle selection was not quite as good as I hoped, but bought two bottles. Pricing might be slightly higher than average, but it did not seem price gouging. I would go back, but would not go far out of my way.“

“First day open for Incendiary Brewing, and out of the gate they had a great crowd. The brewery is indeed very nice with beautiful woodwork everywhere, and lots of room. Located in the basement of the former RJR tobacco company power plant, it is super industrial and modern space. Service was ok, but not really not prepared for opening day IMO. No stickers, nothing for free and just blah. Maybe the most boring opening ever. For re-igniting the coal pit it was a slow smolder at best. Beer was a mixed bag with nothing to wow you. I hope this place can get its act together and be what it needs to be to cary on the tradition of its location. For now it was a slow burn. While here I looked for Travlr, even called out for him, but he was nowhere to be found. Better luck next time!“

“This quaint little place is definitely off the beaten path, located in a weird alleyway, just off of 4th street in Winston-Salem. You will have to look hard to find it. They are connected to a bookstore, offer private events, have a small menu, and also have full bar service. . 10 beers on tap from Foothills brewery, with something for everybody. Samples, flights, pints, even half pours all readily available. Fast friendly service gets you what you need with a smile. Dont miss out on the iced coffee and deserts while here. Stop in today and I'm sure you will be glad you did!“

“Great little brewpub in downtown W-S. They have a long bar and a bunch of booths/tables. The beer list chalkboard was a little out of date, but they did have a fairly nice tap list. I got to try an IPA, brown ale, sour ale, and export stout, which were all good. The food menu features burgers (they are connected to the burger place next door). However, I got chicken and sweet potato waffles, which was delicious. Apparently, they also have milkshakes, and the descriptions sounded decadent, but unfortunately I was too full from food and beer to try one. Definitely worth a stop though!“

“Even by mellow mushroom standards, this place looks a bit different. Travlr says it looks like a postmodern diner, and I can't really improve upon that description,. Beers were mostly local and mostly non-descript. The food, like at most mellow mushrooms, is barely edible. I think our bartender only worked par-time and for some reason thought it would be a good idea to turn the tv's to speed skating on an NFL Sunday.“

“Nice new brewery in an old warehouse area downtown Winston. Private parking in a newly paved lot. Industrial feel with some nice painted walls, very cool bar area. Clean modern restrooms. Service was friendly and efficient. Samples, flights, pints, and growlers all readily available. No problems at all. 8 beers on tap brewed in house. Menu board and information on the brews listed. Layed back inviting feel. Lots of room inside with tables, high tops, and larger tables for groups. Travler was not here. I looked for him. Even called out for him, but alas he was nowhere to be found. Better luck next time!! All in all a great place to visit. Dog friendly.“

“This tap room is in fact roomy, with a large bar area, plenty of seating inside and out. Always plenty of their beers on tap, not too many guest taps. But thats ok. Their lineup is extensive and good. Service is always fast and friendly. Tours of the brewing area are available at times, and interesting. Beer is available in bottles or growler fill. They have food trucks at peak times. Wish they opened a little earlier, but this place is cool any time. Always a pleasure to visit.“

“Really nice (increasingly trendy) open industrial warehouse look. Plenty of bar and tall table seating. Beers were quite good. Their foeder was particularly impressive. Flight options. Quick, friendly service. My friend loves their Tuesday Yoga class: $8 for yoga and a beer. Dog-friendly. If this had been around when I lived in Winston-Salem, it very well may have been my most frequent visit. A must-stop if you’re in the area.“

“I’m going to start this place off right with a near perfect score. New place just opened downtown Winston in an old industrial building. Completely renovated. Plenty of nice parking, and sidewalks. Large indoor seating and bar area, outside seating, and a patio. There is usually a food truck on site for peak hours. Service was fast and friendly even though they were completely overwhelmed. It was standing room only opening weekend and the weekend after. The beer is very good, with some interesting creations and small one offs to keep things lively. Great place to visit for some good beers.“

“Corner place, fortunately a short walk from my hotel. Long bar and booths. A dozen beers on tap, flights of four were $7.50. Beers were tasty and creative. They had snack items on the menu plus a burger, but I didn’t eat. Looks like they own the burger place next door too, staff were going back and forth. Worth a look.“

“What an interesting place. In a group of buildings across from a corner gas station. Right next to a roller mill from which it gets part of its name. Inside, owls represent the most numerous of the abundant kitsch, giving the bar the rest of its name. Seems to have a nautical theme too, with real portholes, and the the taps come out of a diving helmet. Real pinball machines, plus a real Space Invaders. Very friendly service when I visited, although the bar person was not dressed in roller derby kit. Beers were all tasty enough, and offered in full pours or a flight of four for I think six bucks. Most were very sessionable. Definitely worth a visit.“

“Not really a typical Irish pub. Two rooms, the one marked with "Main Entrance" is actually more like a dining room, but I entered through the more typical bar. Large bar surrounded by high bar tables and a foosball table. Large tap lost, all the usual better known craft suspects. Friendly service. Worth a look.“

“Big enough shop, ample parking. Almost an even split between wine and beer. They had some new releases of regional beers that Charlotte hasn’t gotten yet. Growler station had local and national choices. Very friendly knowledgeable service. A worthwhile stop for sure.“

“This place is small, and at one time had a great atmosphere. Not so much any more. Wait staff constantly rotate, some are ok and some are just plain bad. Beers selection is shrinking, seasonal are slow moving and cant keep up. Great place going bad.“

“First stop on the drive to Asheville. In an odd part of Winston-Salem. Metered parking on the street, but there was a lot right around the corner. Pay station was out of order, so it was free, but it was oddly difficult to get to the main street from the parking garage. These people love fences. Once inside was nice enough. Old school tavern decor, pretty large bar with plenty of room in the mid afternoon. Good selection of taps, including BA Sexual Chocolate. I had a reasonably priced flight, including the beast, and proceeded to rate while reading work email on their guest wireless. Beers good to very good. Solid, if a bit stodgy, place.“

“Definitely the place to go in the area, and are willing to go a little out of town. Many of the same beers as downtown plus many more one offs and limited releases. Got there in time for the last of the last of Sexual Chocolate! Bartenders quite knowledgeable, and took time to talk, in spite of busy crowd on Saturday afternoon“

“Downtown location, I guess. Street/meter parking on Saturday morning. Got there for yoga (ish) and awesome sounding food truck. Wrong location. Maybe website needs a little work...Call it a big family area in the front, and a bar area in the back. Long bar plus a bunch of tables. Many TVs. Bit of a corporate or chain feel to the place. But food was amazing (Carolina Burger!!) and beer also very very good, so who really cares about anything else.“

“Foothills was quite a bit better under previous ownership however that said it is still pretty good. The food selection is always good and the beer on tap is generally a nice selection of a dozen or so offerings. They even keep Bud Light in bottle for those people whose palates suck at tasting. I recommend the Cuban sandwhich and a porter.“

“Excellent place to stop for brewskis and food. The server knew his brews and the food was good. Parking was a little sparse. We went late night during the week and I could see how it might be crowded on a Saturday.“

“I’ve been to a lot of Whole Foods markets and this is easily the smallest. About 12 feet of beers on shelves. No bombers. Four taps. A much better selection at Total Wine 1½ miles away or most likely at City Beverage 1½ miles the other way. I didn’t get to stop by there but it’s rated #1 in the W-S area.“

“They probably get the bronze for bottle selection in Winston-Salem, with Stella Brew and City Bev well ahead. You’ll find something, but unless you’re not visiting the other two I mentioned, I don’t see a scenario where you’re finding something here that you couldn’t get elsewhere or at a better price.“

“Sort of dingy hole-in-the-wall, but that seems to be what they’re going for. Everyone was polite and welcoming. A selection of 4-8 drafts with half pours available. Clean and solid beers all around. They tend to stay true to style with few beers having any adjuncts. You should definitely check it out while in town!“

“Beautiful and spacious building that is much more beer-focused than the downtown brewpub. This is where you want to go if you have a car and are focused on trying Foothills beer. Plenty of indoor and outdoor seating that includes board games and cornhole available. Lots of space at the bar with roughly 15 taps, including one-offs. Flights are available. I live walking distance from the brewpub and a 15 minute drive from this tasting room. If I could walk here, this is where I’d be more than any other place in Winston-Salem!“

“A cafeteria style place, and a bit of a goldfish bowl, that lacks the usual cosiness and warmth of Mellow Mushrooms. Apart from that, it’s as you’d expect with pizzas and a long beer list. (Visited 11 February 2014).“

“Cool little place. A little hard to find the first time and parking is not great. Good selection, though not very organized. Everything is just kind of thrown in there and the isles are not very easy to move up and down in. Staff seems to have a decent knowledge of beer if you ask, but the actual service leaves a little to be desired. Prices are definitely on the high side. I like to go here but not my first stop.“

“This is a great shop. Bottle shops are about two things, beer and people, and this place is filled with the highest quality in both. They have excellent selection of both regional and national selections but also a good international lineup. Their tap list is always excellent and frequently updated. The staff are the true gem, both knowledgeable and friendly. Best shop in town.“

“Hoots is a darn cool little bar tucked in a very unexpected space in Winston-Salem. New to the NC brew scene Hoots is coming out swinging with a solid regular lineup. Best of the current line-up is the Stout and Smooth (a variation on a mild). I also enjoyed their Hefe seasonal. No food on premise. They also do some craft cocktails featuring their own flavoring syrups. Really good customer service here. The brewer talk time to discuss the operation with us and the bar tender consistently rocks. Yup, Hoots is my jam.“

“An OK place in downtown winston. Definitely not my first stop. Its on a busy corner with nearly no parking. Plan on parking somewhere a couple blocks away and walking. Typical downtown? Yes. Worth it. No. At times it can get really busy, and the last time I was here I could barely get a seat. With just 1 server they didnt exactly have the manpower to serve the crown that was there. Which meant a long wait for beer. I did try the food, and it was also ok. Nothing special and a bit overpriced for what it was. Just as expected it was also a long wait. The beer is good. Given where it is and slow service I just cant recommend it. Better beer is close by!“
