“A nice brewpub in Wisconsin Dells with good food (generous portions) and surprisingly good beer. The service was great, and the atmosphere was nice too. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.“

“Randomly found this place driving back to our resort. I guess this just opened up a few months ago. Cool place, entrance is garage doors that open to a huge open layout. 3 different food trucks are permanently built inside that you can order food from. One is a sushi and Asian eats, the others are street tacos and grilled cheese. 16 beers on tap and the selection is nothing special, but some solid Wisconsin stuff is on. Happy hour is 4:20-6:20 and all taps are $3, which is a steal in this tourist trap hell hole. Nice little spot, would for sure visit again.“

“A very large, old-school brewpub that channels a cabin / hunting lodge vibe. Lots of tacky carvings of bears and tchotchkes on display etc. House beers were plentiful in number, but very poor in quality. At least the cheap price of my flight took some sting out of the drinking experience. This place’s raison d’etre is to fill tourists up with pizza and suds. In that respect it’s a total success, I guess. Don’t come with high expectations.“

“Good clean place the day I was in here. Good amount of Bell’s, Founders, New Glarus, Capital, Ale Asylum, New Holland, Boulevard, and a decent looking Belgian section which was just outside the cooler. Pretty friendly staff too.“

“Visited during a stay in the Dells. Stand alone building with ample parking. Log cabin, woodsy feel. Kid friendly. Service was very good, and prompt. 10 beers on tap. Samples were $14 for all ten in 5 oz. pours. Our party ordered pizza and calzones, which was very good. Value was average for a tourist area. Overall this was a clean restaurant, with good service, above average food, and mediocre beer. Worth a stop if you are staying in the Dells area.“

“A pizza/brewpub place with an up north/cabin ambiance to the place. A decent sized bar area in one room with TVs and a few other rooms with plenty of seating. Service was good and the bartender knew a bit about the beer. They had 10 on tap with samplers available. Pizza was solid but not great. Prices seemed pretty good. A nice brewpub stop if you are in the Dells.“

“Stopped in on a Saturday evening on the way to LaCrosse. Big parking lot was fairly full, but lots of room inside. Definitely a family hangout; lots of kids with moose horns leaving the joint. Bar itself was empty. Service was solid and friendly. 10 beer flights with 5oz pours were $14. Beers were pretty mediocre, but a couple were decent. Pizza was quite good.“

“not a great place. The food was over priced, but kudos to the server who gave me a discount. they had about a dozen different kinds of beer - but they were all their own house brewed, and most of them sucked. that is all.“

“Walked in late one evening and found the cooler. Was expecting more from the previous ratings but found New Glarus and a couple other things so if comparing to other stores up there it has a nice selection but depending on where you come from may vary. Still a nice little place with some good brews.“

“On the road to Lake Delton in the midst of the Dells strip. BIg "up north"-y looking family restaurant. Inside lots of room and a couple of bar areas. 12 taps, all their own brews; half seasonal and half full time selections. In the summer, that led to golden ales and tangerine ales, and such. The IPA -- my personal gauge to a place -- was ok, no better. Happy to give samples, and really a happy vibe throughout the place. Food was pizzas, bar food and some additional Italian. The calzones were excellent. With kids, I will return.“

“Thought my last brewpub I entered in here was my last, but I was wrong. Haha, just found this one. Yup, my family and I drove through the Wisconsin Dells and we sure did stop here. If anything, its a well lit, pretty clean establishment and we sat upstairs and got to look at the brewing vats which to me was pretty cool and I got to show my son which was still pretty cool. The service, well, for a Wednesday, it was pretty busy and ya know, we got served pretty quickly as well, nice! The selection, its their beer and a long list of appetizing looking beers. The food was good - I had a personal hamburger pizza = awesome. The value, well, as far as I know, it seemed like a good place for your dollar, but I don’t know much about the economy of Wisconsin. Overall, that place was to my liking, but then again, I’m probably just a typical Northerner who liked the rustic outdoorsy look of the place, probably not the place for uppity city slickers.“

“Stopped in recently on a beer run to Zinke’s, which never disappoints. Never thought to stop in here, as it looks like any other divey Dells bar from the outside, macro neons, screen door, etc. the building is wedge shaped, once inside you walk into a tiled room with tables and a dartboard or two. Past that is the bar in another room, with windows looking onto Zinke’s parking lot. A few lackluster taps were at one end of the bar, Stella, cider, and Spotted Cow, but the saving grace was at the other end, Lake Louie Kiss the Lips IPA. We were handed the bottle list after that, which listed an impressive 80 beers. They were listed randomly, but there were some seasonal gems like Ale Asylum Bedlam, Port Huron Altbier, and others. Atmosphere was a typical townie bar, there was Kilbourn Fire Dept. memorabilia set into the bar, which was unique. The bartenders were quick and friendly, and able to list off a few of the newer beers they got in. Overall not a bad place, definitely worth a stop if headed to Zinke’s, or Port Huron. Bar scene in town is still lacking, byob camping ftw... “

“2011: On the main drag, waterparks and motels as far as the eye can see. Accessible via back road (Hiawatha) from the Lake Delton area if you want to avoid traffic on the main roads. The building is a former Houlihan’s, and it projects that upscale yet generic chain "pub & grill" vibe. Checkered tile floors, dark wood crown molding, faux stained glass lamps, wooden booths, etc. Long rectangular bar is immediately to the right, with a maitre d’ stand front and center. Down a couple steps into the dining area, you can see placards on the walls detailing the beer selection. The restaurant itself was spotless, it’s only been open a month or so. Servers weren’t all that beer knowledgeable, probably just seasonal summer help. "We’re out of the Black IPA, but we have IPA2, those are the same thing right?" "What’s the seasonal? I don’t know, we’ve only been open a month." Lol. It was the middle of the afternoon, but it was a little slow getting samplers to our table. Food came out pretty quickly. Pretzels were super salted and buttery, with 3 sauces for $7. Menu seemed to be trying to be all things to all people, German, Asian, Italian, American. Beer selection was limited to Sprecher and Chameleon beers, with some of their seasonals. Nothing pub exclusive or anything. The Chameleon beers weren’t branded as such, at first I thought they were pub exclusives, but realized they weren’t after checking BA. Standards: Black Bavarian, Pub Ale, Hefe, Amber, Reserve beers: Abbey Triple and Belgian Dubbel, IPA2. No Black IPA or Kriek, which we were hoping to possibly try on tap. Didn’t see a bottle list... that would be a simple way to have all of Sprecher’s beers available. Full line of craft sodas for the kids. Growlers were $16 and up, and they don’t fill outside ones. Overall it fit right in with the Dells, but a slightly better than average beer selection most other bars besides Monk’s and Moosejaw, if you dig Sprecher beers. “

“2013: Full case of Hanssens Oude Gueuze on the shelf. What other grocery store has that? Cases of Wild Sour and Strawberry Rhubarb, vintage CW BBW, 6-8 Bruery, full Founders lineup, full Tyranena lineup, full Ale Asylum lineup, several FFF options. That alone justifies the scores. Look where you are... nothing remotely like that in a 50 mile radius outside of Madison. Not to mention they actually have relatively fresh beer and move through their stock, unlike other local stores selling Winter Warmer in July... I’ve been here over a half dozen times and will keep coming back. Summer 2010: Walk in cooler with big representation of Founders, FFF, Central Waters (BB Barleywine, Illumination), Great Lakes, New Glarus (2x Unplugged & Dancing Man), Ale Asylum (Satisfaction Jacksin), Goose Island, Lake Louie, not many imports though. Nice selection available cold. This is a small town grocery store that is supported by the residents of the Dells. It’s not a high volume store, and they tend to get "cleared out" on the weekends. It’s not a huge selection, but it’s all about convenience here. Yes, it’s mainly a grocery store, but considering the tourist trap hell it’s smack dab in the middle of, it’s pure gold. You will always get a friendly person at the checkout, and get rung up quickly. The closest decent beer stores are 30 minutes outside of town (Viking Market in Baraboo/Reedsburg, Liquor Baron in Sauk City), and at the height of tourist season that can mean over an hour in traffic.“

“I stopped in for a visit while driving on vacation. The place is made to look like a log cabin in the north woods with wood everywhere. The bar is a huge thick slab of lumber. They had nine beers on tap. The food is typical pub fare with a concentration on pizza. I had a personal pizza which was plenty for me. Friendly service. One thing I did like is they collar wrap their growlers with shrink wrap which I thought was a neat idea. Very family friendly.“

“I like the ambiance with the northwoods feel. Service is usually attentive and its usually pretty busy. The beer is average, no real standouts good or bad. It’s in a resort area so prices tend to be higher than other breweries like it. Certainly worth a stop if in the area.“

“Stopped by here while on vacation in the Dells in Sring 2011. MooseJaw obviously specializes in Pizza and Beer. They do have lots of other choices but are rather minimal in the burger/steak category. The decor is well done in a log cabin/up north hunting theme. Food was great and the place was hopping for an early Tuesday dinner. Seems they always have at least 10 different store brews to try for $4 or you can get the sampler which is all 10 draft beers in a 5oz. glass. Or you can take home a growler for $14. Really neat place and interesting brews!“

“Nice place. Pretty packed although it was sunday of labor day weekend. Sat at the bar while waiting for our table and the bartender was right there explaining how the place works (most of my family had never been to a brewpub) and giving them all good commercial examples of what their beers could be compared to (do you like Johnny Walker scotch? Try our scotch ale, it’s like a watered down version of that with a little more malt sweetness) Pretty good selection, most of the year round stuff and a couple seasonals. They also had some stuff from Chameleon brewing on tap and a huge selection of soda for the kiddies. Food was great. We shared some nachos (just ok) and cheese curds then I got the BBQ burger. All the burgers were absolutely great and the sweet potato fries kicked some ass. Very reasonably priced, considering it was in the dells. 12 beers, 5 entrees and 2 starters for about $115. Overall, great. I would go back anytime.“

“My first time at a Sprecher’s location. I think this is pretty new to the Dells, and I’m fairly certain it used to be Houlihan’s. It’s right next to the Tommy Bartlett ski show location. Since I visited in the winter, parking was not an issue and the place was empty, but I can imagine parking being a chore in the summer. They had a fairly large craft beer menu - about 12 of the Sprecher’s standards and 3 or 4 seasonal/specials. A large pub grub menu was reasonably priced for the Dells. I had the fried calamari and the portion size was rather large and the food was prepared to my liking. Everyone else in my party liked the place, though the particular beer I tried was sub-par, I’d visit again to check out their seasonal selections. It is a nice alternative option to Moosejaw for decent beer in the tourist trap that is the Dells. When I’m in town, I’ll plan on hitting both.“

“A pizza delivery PT cruiser with a large moose on top made this place easy to find on the Dells strip. Inside, everything was antlers or moose in terms of décor. Service was okay, food was okay but a bit on the spendier side. The beer was all over the map but nothing stellar although a few were decent. I wouldn’t go out of my way to come back, though if I’m town riding Hellcat, Hades or Zues, I’d probably stop back in.“

“What a gold mine. I was a little wary of the place from the exterior. It’s huge and in the hear of tourist town. On a Sunday (albeit summer) night, there were half-hour waits from when we got there until we left. Lots of families, but a good sized bar with plenty of good beers. I was told there is an arcade downstairs, which would be great if you have kids. The pizza is probably the best I’ve had in WI, although that’s not saying much. Definitely worth a stop if you’re in the area.“

“You’re in a tourist town, so all things considered this isn’t that bad. The beer selection (10 beers) includes a lot of generic brewpub beers, but a couple are interesting. Nice atmosphere. Food is overpriced--$6.49 for kids meals is atrocious--but the pizza is a decent option for feeding the kids (really good sausage on the pizza). The arcade downstairs is also way overpriced. Decent service. I expect to be in the Dells again but I probably won’t return. Great cars for delivery--big moose on VW bugs.“

“Whoa, I have to admit that I was prejudiced against this place for some obtuse reason. However, I was put in my place in the best way possible. Great place! Attention was paid to the smallest detail. Aesthetics have played a crucial role in the design and execution of the building and operation of this place. Should be around for at least 100 years. And, AND - good beer to boot! Only had appetizers to eat and they were tasty. Bit pricey, but on the other hand beer was almost crazy cheap! Looking forward to a return ASAP.“

“Stopped her on the drive to Minneapolis. Been only once, not planning to come back again but would if the opportunity came up. It is close to the highway, so not far out of the way. The area seems to be a bit of a tourist spot as far as Wisconsin goes. Moosejaw is a very artificial, seems like corporate owned place. Chrysler’s with moose on them sit in the parking lot. The inside is all fake, decorated to be a lodge with stuffed animals. Way over the top, think if TGIF made a lodge-like restaurant. @ floors, lots of room, lots of tables, very family friendly. The brewing facilities are on the 2nd floor, out & beautiful. Food: average prices, average selection, for a brewpub, I did not eat a pizza. Otherwise, my brat and my lady’s BLT tasted ok, very average. Beer; above average. 12 on tap. 1 oaked porter, lots of styles. No flaws, lages done very well, especially the "Red" lager. Only the 2 weakest (mainstream appealing) were uninteresting. I would stop by again if I was around but I wouldn’t make a trip out there just for it.“

“Stopped in with family on vacation. Very nice looking place. Service was very poor. First on an empty Sunday evening they sit me, my obviously pregnant wife, and my 1 1/2 year old daughter in the bar when the rest of the dinning area was empty. We then order an appetizer and they forgot to bring it before our meal. Not even an I am sorry from out waiter. My burger was dry and had to be sitting under a lamp forever. Had a 6 5oz sampler and can say there was not a bad beer in the mix but nothing that great either. Would come back for beers but that is it.“

I asked the waiter for a copy of the beer menu so I could make some note so I could log them into this site he said that thay did not have one. My wife and enjoyed the appitizer and he shows up with a copy off the copy machine, now that is good service, Thanks Dan. “10 5oz beers for $12. Went on a Wednesday afternoon in August. Quick waitstaff service, but very slow bar service (there was only one bartender behind the bar). Ambiance is faux rustic, a lot of rough wood style furniture and taxidermy on the walls. Not all that uncommon for the Dells area, actually. Pizza’s acceptable: nice crisp dough, fresh veggies, and a sweeter sauce (it blended well with the Apricot Ale). Serve a thick beer-cheese soup that tastes like a broccoli-cheese soup mated with potato soup. To quote, most of the beers were inoffensive but unmemorable.“

“Interesting decor that would make a PETA member cry. Tons of animals adorne the walls and the lamps and just about everywhere in here. While there I split the 10 beer sampler and a pizza. First off, the pizza was excellent. Nice thin crust, tons of fresh topping. Now onto the beer. I can sum this up in one word... Meh! Boring and brewed for the masses to make them think they are drinking craft beer. I guess you can’t blame them for doing this in a tourist area. I actually felt sorry for the brewer, knowing they are probably holding him/her back. During the summer, go here during off peak hours, or be prepared to wait hours for a table. We went at 4:30 for an early dinner and beat the rush. The place was jammed packed at 6 when we left.“

“Had a 10 beer sampler here on a crowded summer Friday night. None of the beers were all that good and I didn’t even finish a lot of the samples. Nothing infected, just very bland and on the watery side of any style. Perhaps when they’ve got a few of their higher gravity beers on tap it might be worth a stop, otherwise it’s a typical run-of-the-mill brewpub.“

“A really cool looking brewpub all decked out in northwoods stuff, moose heads and all sorts of other dead animals on the walls. Kinda neat if you arent from Wisconsin and seem to think that all of us here decorate our homes like that ) Not too wide of a selection with about 7 different brews available, one in about each of the major styles, nothing remarkable, but decent.“

“Visited on a Thursday afternoon around 4 PM for some pizza and a sampler. Building looked like a log cabin mansion. Really beautiful and clean. Service was exceptional. Beers were all pretty good, although not the most flavorful. My favorite was the Kilbourn Hop Ale, which had a lot of flavor compared to the others. The thin-crust pizza we had was outstanding. The only problem with this place is that it is in a tourist area, and thus the beers are expensive. $14 for a growler and $11 for a refill. It’s worth a visit if you are in the area, but it isn’t the cheapest place, that’s for sure.“

Based on the other reviews, we had the pizza and it was great! Our service was great also. The beers were good - some were much better than others. “I’ve been to this place about 4 times and it is hit and miss. The hits are the numbers of beers and the atmosphere. The misses are too often the beer, and the service. I had never gotten pizza before my last visit and that had left me with a bad impression of the food. Plus I had visited in the summer before and it was always crowded and the service was poor. Much better experience recently. Pizza crust is thin (the way I like it) and the service was OK (not great, but OK). Beer seems to have improved markedly of late (2/2006). Glad I have given them another chance.“

“Like most others, I really enjoyed my visit to Moosejaw. It is a huge, Northwoods lodgy type of place. I was going to order pizza, but was just there with my 2-yr-old son and felt that the personal size was too small and the next size up too big. I ended up having the mushroom & swiss burger. Quite good. Son had a grilled cheese sandwich, which I liked more than he did. Service was exceptional and friendly, although the waitstaff not necessarily overly knowledgable about the beers. Echoing others, there were not necessarily any medal winners among the beers, but they were all well crafted with no glaring flaws. The Blonde Bock I thought was their best beer. Recommended.“

“Nice place with a norther Wisconsin loghome atmosphere. No smokers in my vacinity either. You get the option of a 6-beer sampler for $8 or the 10-beer sampler for $12. Having done the larger, I’d suggest getting the 6-beer sampler and staying away from their lighter-hued ales and lagers. It’s night and day with the difference between them. Overall, pretty worthwhile.“

“Huge location with three bars. The main floor bar is very load with lots of eating space surrounding it. The lower bar is slightly quieter, but still lots of game noise abounds. The upper is near the brewing equipment, and while I usually don’t go there, it is likely the best place to enjoy the brews. Nice selection of decently brewed beer. Catering to the normal FIB crowd, but a few good one to satisfy a more daring palate. The food, while a bit pricey, has always been good. An easy hop, skip and jump off the highway.“

“Visited here in June ’05. Very crowded and had to wait a while for a table....mainly because the waitress never rang my little beeper thing! Oh well, the time was well spent in the basement looking at the beer can collection, sipping a few pints and playing pool. 10 beers on tap - all decent - nothing out on a limb - but they are trying to please the masses - most who seemed to order a Bud Light anyway! Food was solid - had th epork chops and once I finally got seated the service was good. 6 or 10 beer samplers are available. Big, wide-open lodge like feel to it - great for families.“
