“A traditional-looking pub in the centre of Wrexham, situated on a pedestrianised shopping street. Fairly small pub inside, traditional in feel. Magic Dragon, understandably, takes pride of place on the taps, but there are other guests from breweries such as Exmoor and some mainstream keg beers. I quite like Magic Dragon, they hit traditional styles well, are nicely flavoursome and their keg IPAs are pretty smart too. Nice place to get acquainted with them.“

Fat Boar (Bar)

“Smart gastropub in the centre of Wrexham, opened Nov '16 by the owners of the Fat Boar in Mold. Quite busy on this sunny Monday evening, the pub opens up to an outdoor patio area, that itself leads down to another section with comfortable seating and tables and an outdoor pizza oven that seemed to be serving pizza non-stop to everyone in the pub. At £5 a pizza, it's hard to say no. We certainly didn't, excellent fresh pizza it was too. Beer wise, expect Verdett, Guinness and local Wrexham lager, as well as 3 cask from Big Hand, Stonehouse and Mobberley. No bottles apart from alcohol-free. Seemed to be the best option in Wrexham outside Wetherspoons. Nice place.“

“Visited 11/2/2019. New day had dawned and ritual first stop was another sadly quite innocuous JDW. I'm quite a fan of JDW but these ones on this trip haven't been great. This one was quite typical, though just edged it for me over the other 3 we've done so far.“

“Another Wetherspoons like some many of the others. They did have two local cask ales on, which was what we were looking for.“

“Central Wrexham pub in the busy commercial centre. It’s decked out in the more familiar of this chain but is comfortable and roomy inside. The bar hosts two rows of ale pumps. There’s not much room out front but a small patio can be made when the weather is good.“

“Situated on one of the grander main streets in the centre of Wrexham it occupies one such building. The former banks main hall is the focus of the action with the bar situated along the length of one wall. Its high ceiling makes for an atmospheric setting although there are a couple of areas connected that have lower ceilings and are more out of the way. Beyond these is the small rear patio, but it is small. A popular venue throughout the day, it can get busy at the weekend being a Lloyds Bar part of the Wetherspoon chain. A good selection of ale is available.“
