“Cool place with friendly service. Open to street in a cool neighbourhood. Did a ten beer flight here. All HK stuff on tap, which is sweet for a layover beer visit like I did. Lots of nice stuff on tap too. Prices high, but maybe normal for HK?“

“Some places have all the right ingredients to make a great bar, but just can't cohesively come together to make a good or even great spot. A great selection of imports with a good selection of import bottles. Some of the bottles on sale are a good price even by international standards. Sadly the draft board has no prices, so I walked away with a $25 beer without really realizing it. Although my fault, this is a poor way to present beer. Great glassware, staff wore nice uniforms, but they chose to ignore me when I was spending money and was the only person there.“

“A tiny little spot with a dozen seats. Exposed to the heat but pleasant staff and a small tap list. Only 2 sizes. Not a bad little spot but not worth the trek.“

“This is a lot of things. Sheesha, pizza and craft beer. Not of which are done well, but all done decently. Crappy taps but dec not bottles from local and abroad. Prices are online, but there is nothing quite unique in its list. If you want to smoke and drink this is the spot.“

“A. If long space that seems likes it is always empty. High prices and ridiculous flights make this location a poor choice vs the one in HK Island. Service was ok and the list was small compared to the other location.“

“A very American style which looks like an open garage with bare bones and an industrial flare. Service was weird, tried to be helpful, but was just confusing. Flights at an OK price and tasters for the asking. Not a bad spot, although some of the larger tap lists make this look a little quaint. Almost all local beers.“

“A hard pass with the exception of the one beer brewed, which is pretty bland. Need a tick, sure, but with The Madhouse next door a place that needs not be visited. English in nature, but no English people there, and full of the more uninteresting pub ales. No flights and they are reluctant to do tasters. If you are looking for a good local English pub try The Globe which is awesome.“

“Not sure this ranks as high for me as others. A tiny little spot that doesn't take much to get crowded. No bar seating. No sharing, minimum order of 1 thing per person, so sharing a flight became a problem for us. Flights of 3 at a reasonably expensive price. A well curated tap list of locals and imports. Bathrooms are out back and open to the elements, so on hot or rainy days a bit of a shock to the system. A solid spot but not my favorite.“

“Happened to drop in on the 2nd anniversary so not indicative of how it may be normally. Smallish and gets crowded quickly. Staff are pleasant but not really beer focused. Selection was all imports from England, Denmark and Scotland. Higher end stuff and the price reflects it. No flights but small pours. A decent spot and I will stop in again.“

“Tiny hole in the wall in west Kowloon. 8 taps, all locals, including a house IPA brewed at Yardley Brothers. Two sizes for most beers, but some of the bigger, sexier beers are only in the small size for the large price ($66 for a small, $88 for a large). Friendly service and they’ll do tasters. Expensive and probably not worth the detour given the better bars nearby.“

“Tired old British pub right next to The Madhouse. Only one house tap, with 5 guests from the UK. Expensive normal pints at $80-106; happy hour will cut that down to $57-80, still expensive. Service is rather annoying and pressure-inducing. Wouldn’t come back and wouldn’t recommend it.“

Angry Beer 怒啤 (Beer Store)
SHOP 207, 2/F, SINO CENTRE, 582-592 NATHAN ROAD, MONG KOK
“A bit tricky to find, keep searching it is worth it. On the 3rd actual floor, this little bottle shop has a nice selection. Price just a tad higher than the bigger shops, but not by much. Mostly Asian and a smattering of international. Owner was pleasant, cash only.“

Angry Beer 怒啤 (Beer Store)
SHOP 207, 2/F, SINO CENTRE, 582-592 NATHAN ROAD, MONG KOK
“A little hard to find: you gotta go up to the second floor - which involves taking three escalators up from the entrance floor. Tiny little space, with a decent array of locals, Taiwanese, Belgian, American and other imports. Very friendly, English-speaking shop owner. Cash only. Prices are quite reasonable for both locals and imports. Definitely the best place I found to buy beer on the Kowloon side.“

“Stopped in a Tuesday night and it was packed. Small place with room for maybe 20-25 - you won’t have much personal space. Flights available, but prohibitively priced. 0.2 and 0.4L pours available, the former starring at $48HK plus the 10% service fee. Taplist has 4 locals, but the rest were imports from Norway, the US, and elsewhere. Friendly service who will do free pours. Worth a visit.“

“Easily deserving of its high reputation, this is a mandatory stop in Kowloon (director next to Cheers The Taproom). Large taplist of about 20, with half being local and half being imports from all over. And they are top tier taps. Flights of 3 available for $144HK. Better to just do 0.2L pours that ranged from $42-64 for locals (0.4L pours for $66-101). Service is friendly and helpful, willing to do free pours. It gets busy in the evenings, even during the week - you don’t have a lot of personal space. Overall, mandatory stop when in HK. A gem.“

Tipsy Tap (Bar)

“Walking distance from Kowloon Taproom and Zhang Men, this is definitely worth a visit. 20 taps, with a focus on US beers and some hard to get ones too - there was even a Superstition mead on! Flights of 5 for $188HK, really not worth it. Other than that, beers come in either 260mL or 420mL pours; $64 and up, and $88 and up, respectively, plus a 10% service fee. Bottle list is impressive, with tons of rare imperial stouts and lambics for insane amounts of $. Comfortable, modern interior with seating for maybe 30-40. Not terribly friendly service, but they did offer free samples. Worth a stop when in Kowloon.“

“The HK outlet of this Taiwanese brewery. Good taplist, a bunch of stuff I didn’t see just a few days back in Taipei. Flights of 6 available for a whopping $239 plus 10% service fee - at that price, this just ain’t happening. Otherwise, it’s $60 or so for a 250mL pour and considerably more for a full pint. It’s a pleasant place, with a stylish interior, just outrageously priced. If you have the ability to do the Taipei locations, skip this one.“

“A gem of a place just a couple blocks from the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR. Modern, classy interior with the AC blasting nicely. 16 all HK taps, with a focus on hops when I visited. Flights of 4 available for $140HK or 10 for $340HK; otherwise, it’s around $60 for a 12 oz, or $80 for a 16 oz. Super friendly and English-speaking staff. Loved all the local stuff here and the ability to try much of it, despite the price tag. Mandatory stop.“

“In the “craft beer triangle” of Kowloon. Grey tiled floors and blue pained brick walls. A small, quirky bar with indoor seating for 50 people. They have 18 taps and a small bottle selection. A good mix of locally brewed beers and imports, mainly from the UK. Wi-Fi and friendly attentive service. I got the feeling that the staff really cared. A “must visit” for any RateBeerian in Hong Kong.“

“A great little beer bar in the north of Kowloon with seating for around 30 people. A modern, recently opened place with lots of wood, bricks and green leather. They have 20 taps of mainly imported beers and surprisingly few locals. Not sure if this is the way things are normally here. Working Wi-Fi and friendly knowledgeable staff. Limited menu. Worth the journey to come. A solid little bar.“

“A small hole in the wall bar in Kowloon. A dark bar, with seating for around 20 people with a few seats outside. A great selection of beers and particularly beers from Hong Kong. A great local bar with a superb tap selection.“

“In north Kowloon, a modern bar with seating for 35. Cool, air-conditioned, with a tiled / wooden floor and painted walls. They have 20 taps and a superb bottle selection. Friendly, attentive service. Well worth making the effort to come here.“

“A great little bar in Kowloon. 24 taps of Taiwanese beer. The seated and air conditioned indoor area seats around 40 people and the outdoor patio area had room for another 12. A fairly modern looking bar with grey tiled floors and brick walls. Friendly staff and working Wi-Fi. A tickers dream!“

“Another new craft beer shop right in the heart of Kowloon! This shop is only one-fifth the size of HK Brewcraft, but boy it has a comprehensive craft beer selection from around the world, no drafts, just bottles and cans, but the shop owner is nice and very knowledge of the products. Now I have another good place for beer shopping and I will visit often.“

“Appropriate glassware for the Belgians, but do not let the bartender pour. He has an excessively heavy hand and tries to put a head on everything, even gueuze. Two Hanssen's and a fish and chips set me back $400 HKD (about $50 USD).“

“Such a great little place and nearby to others so great to be able to hop around. Decent IPA on tap, not exactly the west coast I was looking for but nice. Quiet overall, but it's a Tuesday... come over for sure.“

“Small restaurant open to the street with 11 taps, local craft beer. Quite nice selection, but not in the best condition (still acceptable). Tasters are available. Worth to visit.“

“Nice small bar (a bit crowded) with great selection of local craft beers and many foreign. In time of our visit they had 11 tapped beers from HK and few more from USA, Japan, even Vietnam. Prices are high, but fortunately they offer tasters, too. Beer wasn't in excelent condition, but still OK. I like this place.“
