“172 from Črnomerec to Terminal in Zaprešić, cross the street, go past the building and turn right, it'll be one of the places in the row. After the Veles pub had to go under, the place was first taken over by Varionica and used as their taproom (thus the name), and at some point, when that didn't work, it was saved by one of Croatia's top few beer judges / experts, Goran Kramarić, and tweaked. He's a pro and really, really knows what he's doing - now, he doesn't normally work there all the time, I lucked into running into when he does, but this is a honest score when he's there at least. Anywho, the tiny, cramped pub on two floors with a nice little patio (and a cute pub cat) punches above its weight class atmosphere-wise - quite friendly and local/regular-filled. The selection is small and heavily curated realistically. Goran's carefully found a balance that works - Pilsner Urquell in great shape, better and actually, during happy hour, cheaper than I'd had in many/nearly all Czech places. Then, Fuller's London pride (the 4.1% English version actually this time), quite sessionable. There's probably a rotating hoppy beer tap - Nova Runda's specials (Beer Bash collab with Fuerst Wiacek when I visited) and Zmajska's Pozoj. Missing something fourth which I hadn't drunk, hm.... They have Duvel in bottles as well from what I saw. All in all, a wonderful place for locals, which gathers a lot of the "west of Zagreb" Croatian beer scene as well, which you should visit if in town, by all means.“

“On Zaprešić's main drag, if it can be called that. Take the 172 bus from Črnomerec in Zagreb, leave at Terminal - and head immediately right and you should find it. Nice modern bar, solid patio. The outlet of the distributors of several German brands, it carries a bunch of those, including seasonals and specials in the fridges. The 8 taps (this time at least) carried some Bayreuther, Riegele, 3 Maisel & Friends beers, some Rittmayer aaaand - Veles Summer Ale, as it appears to be Veles' only fairly regular outlet for now - and that's a rare tick of a decent beer. Good service too. If you're out ticking and/or want German beers in town, this is your choice!“

“A long overdue review, figured it wasn't fair to rate a place I was at that point selling beer to. A big, popular place in Zaprešic, popular among bikers as much as regular folk that would be one of top bars in Zagreb as well - one of four excellent beer places to the west of Zagreb with the legendary Scout in Samobor, Vinyl in Brdovec and Polanovic in Zabok. The tap list rotates, mixing macro and craft stuff - for example they had a couple of Oktoberfest beers during that time, they have the Križevacko lineup on taps right now, BrewDogs here and there... but the true gems are in the beer fridges - a very large, even daring selection of bottles, from German lagers (from the Brdovec importers) to Omnipollo specials and suchlike - from what I can see, they've had Uiltje in bottles recently as well, not surprisingly. All in all, when in town, along with formerly Veles and now Neon, a must visit. Not that there's much else to do. :D“
