“We visited Gasthof zum Alten Wirt, Sunday 7th April 2019. Other than looking at a house here in January, visiting the REWE and driving through the place a couple of times I am unfamiliar with the village/town. However it is on the rail network and I can see on Google Maps that the station is just a 600m walk away, so if anyone was wishing to visit here unless they drove or cycled then the train is an option. Gasthof zum Alten Wirt sits opposite a nice looking church and large old willow? tree. Outside and running along part of the front of this place is a glass covered area with seating, we sat here, however some work is being carried out at the front to improve a much larger seasonal outside seating area. There isn't much work left to complete here and I suspect that this will be finished before the Easter Break. I only ventured inside to order a further beer and to use the toilets. The bar is ahead with seating off to the right and left, a further room is off to the right just beside the bar, the toilets are off to the left when you get to the bar. Plenty of wood, what looks like red quarry tiles and traditional touches to this place. The waitress was quick to serve us for our first beer, the beers btw were from Schlossbrauerei Au-Hallertau, I had the Ecco Pilsner and the Helles, Loz had the wheat all were in good nick and enjoyable. There wasn't many folk here but aside from us most folk were eating, I never looked at the menu but what was brought out to the table of young folk sat along from us looked good and some of the items displayed on the chalkboard outside suggested that the prices were very reasonable. After we arrived everyone who followed was told that they were shut (or shutting) so I was surprised when they served us again when Loz and I went inside as it was clear that some folk only wanted a beer and not food. We liked it here and I suspect if cycling around here again we'll revisit.“

“As with more places in Germany there’s only one brewery associated with it. Jacob Brewery is family owned, small and makes the traditional beer styles. The place is very nice with a Biergarten our in front. Did not try the food.“
