60 /100 LEITHENBUKWEG 13 An expansive brewing facility south of Kitzingen. There is no pub, no draft beer to sample, but in the right situation you can taste directly from the tanks. "Tanks" in this case, are a series of 60-foot conical fermenters that are located outside, cooled nightly with a liquid nitrogen system to maintain temperature. It’s kind of mind-blowing being so small, standing underneath these giants, and pulling perfectly carbonated beer directly (zwick’l, of course!) We showed up spontaneously and our hosts were welcoming and attentive, offering bright tank samples and showing us around the facility. The facility is open to the public, but it’s more for locals who drive up to buy beer by the case. It’s less a place to drink, and more a place to gawk at equipment and get bottles for take-away. |
