66 /100 SCHULSTR. 25 It’s actually a restaurant (typically ’gutbürgerlich’) with small bar and a tiny patio in front of it. Located on a small hill in the outskirts of Brühl and very close to Kierberg station (direct trains from Cologne central station), it has the charme of rural Germany in the 80s. Old-fashioned interior, a playlist with Schlager, R&B and Dance, rather quiet even on a summer night. Two taps (macro stuff) and about 30 different bottles I’d say, nice mixture of German and American craft, classic English and German beers as well as some Belgian and Dutch classics. Nothing that you couldn’t find elsewehere of course, but it comes definitely unexpected at such a venue. The bottles can be picked from a cooler which is always better than reading an outdated bottle list. Quite pricy for German standards but also not unreasonable. Staff was very friendly and helpful, bonus points for this and the beer-forward attitude in such a remote area. |
