“Visited twice & ordered online twice as well. Always a neat (and rotating) selection, constant supply of Founders, which I like; very good & flexible service with strong product knowledge. Above all, affordable for such a small shop (at least compared to wholesale 'Prik & Tik' stores) with the occasional discount. Heartily recommended!“

“Was hier sinds november 2017, 2 keer ter plaatse. Aanbod is goed, enkele moeilijker vindbare bieren. Sommige bieren zijn nogal prijzig.“

“Cozy restaurant beside Sint-Niklaas Grote Markt (Grand Place). They have a good terrace and a nice, dark, wooden interior. Decent selection of Belgian beers served in their proper glassware (including Trappists) and very nice local food. Not a beer destination, but worth a stop if you're around and need a snack.“

“New online shop in Sint-Niklaas, my home region, specializing in international craft beers and whisky; periodically (i.e. until January 2018) also presenting itself to the public in the form of a pop-up store in the heart of the city. Haven't made an online order yet but visited the pop-up store last week and was pleasantly surprised by the extensive selection, which included things like Founders KBS, some of the less common traditional lambics, beers from Omnipollo, Pizza Port, Siren, Mikkeller, Two Roads, Wild Beer and so on. Everything was neatly stacked in shelving units, with red dots indicating which brews the owner himself has yet to taste - clearly he keeps a detailed record of everything he sells, and this record is readily available in his mind as well apparently, as he was very well-informed about some random ticks I grabbed home. Prices are surprisingly reasonable, service very knowleadgable, selection interesting even for seasoned beer geeks - it was about time something like this happened in the otherwise very quiet (craft beer-wise) Waasland region. I will revisit the pop-up shop regularly as long as it remains in place, and will probably keep ordering online afterwards as well. Recommended as a new, budding, enthusiastic craft beer spot in between Ghent and Antwerp.“

De Vidts (Beer Store)

“Sint-Niklaas' long-time and most renowned drink centre, with about four hundred different beers, almost completely centered around Belgian traditions (but mostly from the established family brewers, mind you), yet offering some local Waasland brews you won't find outside of the region; there's a separate department for large bottles and four or five rows of shelves for small bottles. Service was okay but not sincerely friendly - I have the impression that this place is more interested in wine and champagne than in beer, and it is cristal clear that they have no clue as to what is international craft beer is about. Nice setting though, with a cute little dog playing around and music playing in the background. Even though I did find a couple of Belgian ticks there today, those were simply classical Belgian beers that are so low in profile that I have quite simply overlooked them so far. Not worth any detour for sure - about the same value as Fontana (on the other side of Sint-Niklaas) for me, just a bit more snobbish - and, contrary to Fontana, visibly ignorant in Belgium's most important traditions. So if you happen to be in Sint-Niklaas and are looking for a few local ticks, I'd recommend Fontana well over this - at least you can find some lambics there, in which this self-centered De Vidts is very painfully lacking.“

“There aren’t too many exciting places for beer lovers in the Waasland region (north eastern corner of the province of Eastern Flanders) but this deserves at least a mention, since it offers more different beers than any other bottle shop in the region. They have most of the Belgian classics including geuze and kriek, trappist ales, large bottles (I bought that Trignac there today) and some regionals, as well as a shifting assortment of foreign beers every now and then (I found Australian beers there some years ago). Very friendly manager who is clearly very interested in beer in general. Do not make a detour for this, but visit it if you happen to be in the region of Sint-Niklaas for some other reason and want to take some Belgian beers home with you. One downside though: be sure to buy only fresh bottles, as older ones have been standing out in too much daylight for (often) a long time, and we all know that light is beer’s biggest enemy...“

“Nice collection of beers. Indeed a lack of foreign beers, like most of the belgian stores. But this shop is more than beers. Wide range of wines an whisky as well. Located neer by a shopping centre, so certainly step by this shop when you go shopping there. Friendly personel.“

“Big store, also lots of other drinks. Nice to walk in, and lots of beers to chose from. Only the lack of foreign beers is a bit sad, but this seems to be a problem in most Belgian shops. Friendly personel, and I’ll go back there for sure.“
