“Went when it was busy, set up like a Rock Bottom where food is as important as beer. Our server behind the bar knew a bunch about beers. The two we ordered were great., Food looked good.“

“We went for the Dark Secret release, and oh boy. The waitress we had could not take more than one order at once, passed up my buddy twice for ordering, and didn’t know anything about the beer on tap or for sale. The food was good, but the caramelized onions were cloyingly sweet. The beer was pretty good, that said. Pricing was decent. The building was ok. Overall, incredibly disappointing.“

“Always a good experience here. The food is great and the staff is friendly. They have a good selection of beer, house brews as well as other craft beer. I’d recommend this place to anybody.“

“We parked the car right outside the door to the brewery. The brewmaster was there cleaning some wort tanks, and greeted us. We spoke with him for a few minutes, and before I knew it he was pouring samples for us to try. I guess it didn’t hurt to tell him we were on our way to DLD 2013. When we went inside, the wait staff was very friendly and seated us in the bar area. We ordered a couple of samplers, and again, the brewmaster brought a few samples in from the brewery. He also gave us a couple of bottles of the Imperial Stout before it went sale. We shared one bottle at DLD, it was a hit. This was a very good stop, one I hope to do next time we head to DLD.“

“Great Service, family friendly, clean, nice selection of food although I found my burger to be average at best. They have a nice selection of brews. Great place to take a BMC’er to expose them to better made and craft brews. I know these guys keep at least 2 interesting beers on tap all the time and probably 6 beers that will seem pedestrian to the craft crowd, but are well made for their style and great for a mixed crowd. I wasn’t wowed by anything that was on tap at the time of my visit, but I have a buddy down there that has sent me growlers of some of their more interesting beers and they have all been great. If your going down for bears training camp or are in the area, check this place out, you’ll be glad you stopped in IMO.“

“Wow, what an improvement. They used to make some pretty lousey beer here. However, they have a "real" brewing system now! I’ve been here several times in the past few months and they always have something new on tap. Lots of choices of their own beers and usually a good choice of guest taps. Some imports too. Good bottle selection. If you’re visiting the Southern Suburbs of Chicago, give these guys a try.“

“this place is getting much better since they opened their new, improved brewhouse. i think they had 10 original brews on tap today, plus a couple guest taps. and the quality of the original brews seems to be improving, so i’ll have to keep an eye on this place. i sat at the bar, and i was surprised that most people were drinking bud light or mixed drinks or wine. the food is standard, but well done brew pub fare, so if you are here for the beer, there will be something worthwhile to wash down with it. i haven’t been here for about three months, but i was recognized and greeted by the staff. well worth a visit if you are in the neighborhood.“

“i had 2 beers and a sandwich for 20.99 w/ tip, not bad. i had the goatcheese portobello sandiwch on sourdough, it was very good. tried the wit and the IPA. service was nice. the customers seemed to be mostly fat people there to stuff burgers in their throats, didnt see many people drinking at all. seems pretty corporate as far as teh feel of the place. not a total trainwreck but not very homey either.“

Addendum: Sep 16. 07: Haven’t been able to get back there, but shortly after my visit, they brought in a new brewer who has dumped the extract and sugar recipes from the turnkey brewing vendor, and is working into partial and all-grain beers formulated with the help of local homebrewers. And they’re using Wyeast, if that helps any. I’ve sampled the beers at our homebrew club picnic, so the Selection rating goes up a point or two. Worth checking out again.

Original rating: Sep 11, 06: I managed to have a pulled pork BBQ sandwich, and tried my son’s chicken fingers, and they were pretty tasty. But they were out of all but one of their house beers, so I had their stout, which warnt much. The brew works is just three 3 bbl. containers behind the bar, and I wonder if that’s not one of those cheap extract systems (their menu boasts that unlike other brewers, they don’t re-pitch yeast, but bring it in fresh from Austraila). Still, the guest tap selection is fantastic.“

“9/21/7007 Add-on - What Drnk Mcdermott said. Worth checking it out again. I stopped by last week, alerted by Mark, and had an interesting afternoon discussing the brewpub with head brewer Tommy V . There’s a whole new attitude here. I liked the beers, particularly the IPA (of course) and the future of their brewing looks favorable. Stop by and have a few brews.

9/1/2006 Rating - Decent enough restaurant - wooden tables & chairs, patio, a bar that seats around a dozen. I only had the calamari appetizer, but it was pretty good. The menu selection looked like that of dozens of other medium sized eating places. The guest beer list is very good, 3F, DFH, Bells, Flying Dog, Capitol, a few Belgians, a German or two... and the BMCs for those that must. About twenty taps (only one BMC), five of them for their own beers. Their beers are drinkable but, alas, watery and non-memorable. This is a good place to grab a bite, try their beers, and then belly up for the guests.“
