68 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Excellent pub for a village but not worth the detour. Selection is unexpected here but better can be found in most Belgium cities.
Definitely visit if nearby but nothing to change plans for... |
70 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Visited on Friday 17/10/14 en route to Brugges, pleasant bar situated opposited the stone church (Steen Kerke), just off the E40 road (3 or 4 mins).
Firstly worth pointing out that we got chatting to the two women behind the bar who told us they were the relatively new owners, of 4 months, and had reduced the beer range from approx 120 bottles to 60.
As such the range, by their own admission, is probably not as exciting as some folks describe below, for instance just 2 Struise beers, pannepot and tsjeeses.
That aside there is still a decent enough selection of Belgian beers and one of the taps is a changing guest.
The staff were very friendly and the setting is good, medium sized patio overlooking the church and a single roomed interior that seats 50/60 people.
Probably not worth the detour off the E40 it once was but a decent little bar none the less. |
88 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Visited on 2nd Dec 2013. Small bar about 5 mins from Veuren. Owner was very knowledgable and was pleased to recommend beers for certain palates and was spot on with his choices. Excellent well thought out beer list including some good Lambics and more obscure beers. Handy stop on the way to the Dunkirk ferry. Sister pub to Gains bar in Kortrijk

88 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 We (me & Loz) visited here on Friday 7th June 2013, we stayed in the camper in the village alongside the church. Great bar which can be found as you enter the village on the left hand side on a corner opposite a small stream/dyke, the church is just 50 yards away. Beer choice was not huge but it reeked quality, rarely have I seen Struise Earthmonk on offer and at a very reasonable price as well. You enter from the church side via a patio and near the toilets. The bar appears to be just one large square/rectangle and is to your right hand side as you enter. It was fairly quite when we visited with just half a dozen or so others maybe less, but as the landlord explained to us many Belgians were at home watching Belgium succesfully qualify for the World Cup. We didn’t try any of the food but it appeared to look like Tapas style offerings. The landlord came and chatted to us afterwards whilst we had an Orval. Landlord very friendly and really knew his beer even suggesting that we visit a local beer shop/warehouse that was just 10 mins away which we did (thanks for the tip!) Great bar that we all almost certainly return to, btw it is a very, very short drive or cycle ride if you are in Veurne, we never tried to cycle from there but I am sure it would be just a few minutes. |
92 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Really nice cafe with a very interesting beer menu - lots of unusual stuff but at a price. Good service. An easy walk down the canal from Veurne. |
84 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Went here last weekend to have a look at this place, which is close to Koksijde where I am most of the time visiting the Belgian coast.
They have a decent beerlist with a special beer board which has some nice stuff on it. Much Struise, Girardin jonge lambic on tap, and alot of other Belgian beers. Prices are very reasonable.
A very nice place which I will visit again! |
86 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 For the beer lovers in this region, this place is a blessing. Not the biggest selection ever seen, but definitely some very interesting beers. Regional things as well as national treasures, even fresh lambic on tap. Very friendly service. Prices tend to be a bit high, especially for 75cl bottles. Take-away prices would be a nice idea (especially for the 75cl which you can’t finish on your own). |
84 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Zeker een stop waard, mooie kaart en de Pils is er goedkoper dan de benzine. |
96 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Very nice and authentic West Flemish Pub in the center of Steenkerke. The atmosphere is fantastic and right away you have the feeling your at home. There is a great selection of traditional Belgian Craft beers also some hard to find stuff. The service is perfect and the beers are served with love and care for the product. Serving themperatures are well chosen and all the beers are poured in there propre glassware. The Patron is very knowledgeable and full of passion for his beers. For the Whisky fans, Kunstemaecker has a fantastic selection of Single Mats, This is the perfect place to enjoy a few Ales, Sours or beers with balls :-) |
94 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Offcourse I rate this place good, it’s my best friend’s pub. But besides being a great guy, i rate his pub for the following: Very nice place, feels like home. An extraordinary collection of beers, even for a belgian pub. Every beer you’ll order will be accompanied with a extensive explication about how, what, when etc... In other words, the owner knows what he’s serving rather then just having some exquisite beers on the "menu". Whatever beer you order here, you’ll be sure to get the finest @ Kunstemaeker, Steenkerke (Veurne) |
82 /100 Kunstemaecker (Bar) STEENGRACHT WEST 1 Located in the hometown of Willem Vermandere ( and only 50 m. of his door ).We found "De Kunstemaecker", nice pub, friendly people and good beer selection. We took a black albert and tapas plate and finisched on a girardin white label.all Trappists are available exept the Westvleteren, young motivated people who must be supported of any beergeek by doing a visit to this place. |
