“Happening place in the less happening Manhattan. Nice ‘biance with good food. Beers were better than expected, overall better than nearby Manhattan Brewing. About 12 on tap plus guest beers. They even do a little -bal aging.“

“Decent spot if you’re in the second-best Manhattan (out of two Manhattans). Chill bar scene, about 16 taps of their beers. Beer quality is about average. Decent outdoor space. Solid value because it’s Kansas.“

“Monday afternoon visit. Fairly new brewery in downtown Manhattan. Typical brewpub decor. Bigger than it looks from the outside. Friendly service and decent prices. Fairly busy at 4 p.m. on a Monday. Worth your visit.“

“Manhattan Brewing has a medium sized tasting room with plenty of bar seating and tables. They've got a new, wooden patio outside which looks like identical to the others around town. Probably has something to do with the pandemic. We opted to enjoy the cool weather and stay away from the other patrons, given the circumstance. The service was very friendly and helpful. I was very, very impressed with the quality of the beers. You know those breweries where everything is meticulously made with attention to detail. The brewer here clearly has that focus. Everything we drank was beautiful with good clarity and head retention, all the flavors were spot on to style. It didn't matter if it was a lager, a Belgian ale, or English strong ale. Just looking at the pristine and well laid out brewhouse is a good omen.“

“This is a spacious, multi level brewpub in downtown Manhattan. From what I understand, Manhattan Brewing Company is affiliated now. The beer is equally as good and different enough. The food is very tasty. I had a hard time choosing what to eat, the menu is mostly pub grub with twists and that made me curious about several items. The bulgogi cheesesteak was excellent. I was equally as satisfied with the beer.“

“2nd summer visiting my daughter in Manhatten KS. The Library is a short walk through Aggiville from the Bluemont. The store is divided between hard liquor, wine and Beer. Still many good selections are to be found. You can get local beer cheaply as singles. National Bomber botles available and imperial stouts too. “

“I went to dinner there tonight with Patty and Erica. The meal was decent enough. They don't have any of their own beer on tap right now because they are 'featuring ' other local beers right now. Makes you wonder what is really going on? About 10 Beers on tap.“

“Big clean place. The Pic 6 had good variety and some local beers. They are large selection, but not much in the way of the newest and highly rated 4 packs. Best beer store in the area though.“

“Had dinner there with Patty and Erica. Nice big clean place. They had six of their beers on tap and twelve guest taps. We all enjoyed out dinners and the house beers. Happy hour pricing on Sundays.“

“This is a restaurant first, brewery second with about 8 very safe and mainstream offerings. That said, the food was good and beer wasn't bad. Very nice service, not a lot of places to go on Manhattan so this should be on your list.“

“A very decent beer bar. One of the best in KS after Free State and Blind Tiger. After a few years, it will likely develop a bit more of an identity. Right now, the best thing about the place is the blend of test batches of beer with some nice guest taps.“

“Visited for lunch on a Thursday. New venue for Tallgrass located in downtown Manhattan. 20 some taps with the majority Tallgrass beers. 5 taps exclusive to the Tap House. Food was pretty good as was the service. Prices seemed decent. They did have BA Buffalo Sweat on tap. Sure I will visit again.“

“Stopped by on a visit to Manhattan. Decent selection, even saw a few new to me beers. Can’t quite figure out how things are displayed. Service was very good. Prices seemed fair, a number of items were not priced. Worth a visit if in Manhattan.“

“Little Apple has a great stable of regular brews and their seasonals are fabulous as well. The stout they brew in the winter is phenomenal. The menu is has a good family variety but don’t expect chilli’s prices...and don’t expect chilli’s food...this is a great american small town microbrew and restaurant with college girl waitresses and home town customers. Great atmosphere.“

“A very good old chicago. I have been to a ton of these things and i really like this one. Since i have become a regular in the town of Manhattan, all the staff know me fairly well. beer selection is decent-lots of KS local micros which is what i look for when i go to KS. Food is like all old chicago however, i find it pretty tasty. Minus the fact they put their glassware on ice, i dont really fault this place much at all.“

“Have visited twice in the 3 years I have been living in Lawrence. First time was a relatively subpar experience but last time was much better. They have purttied the place up. New paint, new decorations for the shopping plaza. This seems to have translated to the brewing. No more diacetyl, no more lemony tartness int he beers. So, the beers are no longer poorly brewed. However, they are nothing special, very average brews, not well attenuated, muddied flavor profiles, etc. Worth a stop but don’t expect anything phenomenal. A good amount of taps. Food is very Midwest, big portions with lots of meat on the menu. Actually the menu was very extensive but still within the average brewpub fare choices.“

“The Kites in Aggieville is not my kind of bar. Poor beer selection, mediocre food (its basically more expensive rusty’s food, I cant knock the burgers and fries too much but other wise just cheap bar food. Always poor slow service. It was better as 12th street pub years ago. Its also the big greek oriented bar if thats what your into, and according to my folks, it was like that it the seventies too. Two things i can say for the bar is that they serve free fresh popped salty popcorn, and they used to sell four lokos for ridiculously cheap (loss leader?) but now no one drinks four lokos so the place pretty much just has the popcorn going for it now.“

“The food, particularly steak, is pretty good. House beer can be a bit boring, but I recently tried the Barley Wine as a seasonal, and it was fantastic. Service is relatively fast, and the place is not as packed as it seemed to be ten years ago. The pale ale is decent and the stout is always a crowd favorite. Located in a sort of cheesy old strip mall called Westloop, it is also right down the road from Nespor’s, the second best liquor store in Manhattan.“

“Probably the second best liquor store in Manhattan in terms of beer selection. The staff is generally helpful. Great Wine selection. Decent beer selection, but they store their bombers in direct sunlight. This store is definitely focused on wine.“

“The library liquor store is the only liquor store in Manhattan that carries a very good selection of craft brews. Nespors carries a decent selection, but the Library is unlike anything i have ever seen in such a small town. Sometimes this store can be busy during gamedays and graduation time ect. Normally staffed by attractive coeds and owned by a guy who definately knows about beer. Not the cheapest store in Manhattan, but not particularly over priced.“

“I hadn’t been into the Library in about 10 years until just recently. Walking in for the first time, the familiar floor-to-ceiling racks greeted me. Heading to the back, imagine my surprise to find a large walk-in cooler and the best selection of craft beer - all cold - in Manhattan. Parking can be a bit difficult (it’s located on the south end of the Aggieville bar district) but it’s certainly worth seeking out if you want the best selection of cold beer in the area. I’ve made it part of my weekly routine to stop in and check out what’s new.“

“Heritage has the best selection of bombers cold in Manhattan. The only thing holding them back is that they do have a tendency to charge a little bit more than the other liquor stores in the area, which bumps them down a peg. It’s also a bit out of the way if you live in the Manhattan area, as it’s out to the east of town, and almost halfway to Wamego. Still, it’s a nice liquor store and one of the best in town.“

“I love Beer Goggles for one reason: It’s got the best mix six option in all of Manhattan. Seriously, if you’re wanting to do a mix six, this is the place. Otherwise they do a pretty good job of getting in local craft beer, and I can occasionally find something there that I haven’t seen anywhere else. It’s close to where I live so the convenience also rates high.“

“My go-to liquor store of choice in Manhattan. They have probably the best selection of micro brews and bombers in the area, with only Heritage on the East side of Manhattan close to competing with their selection. Good staff, great beer.“

“Little Apple Brewery is Manhattan’s lone brewpub. It’s tucked away inside the Westloop shopping complex and easy to mix. The food at Little Apple is typical of your brewpub, with their steaks being the best thing on the menu. Their burgers and other food is okay, though the steak pizzeta is probably the best thing you can get. The beer is spotty as best, as one week you can go and it tastes amazing and the next week you go it’s average. Not a great value for the price anymore either, as their beer is a little overpriced for the substance. Not bad, but not great either.“

“Definately a land mark for the area. the food is great. The beers that they brew are really pretty good. On most afternoons you will find a group of beer loving locals, each of whom have their own specialized mug hanging on the wall. A must stop if you are ever in the area.“

“There are two locations in Manhattan..this one is on the east edge of Manhattan. Have visited this place a few times and each time is a horrible experience in atmosphere, service, cleanliness, and qualilty. TVs are everywhere and usually at an annoying level. The seating is uncomfortable. I have waited an excessively long period of time to be served even when they were not busy. Servers are usually standing in a group talking to each other or talking to friends etc seated at tables. Also, check your change from the servers as it may be short. Beer is off tasting and selection is basic fare....mass produced stuff...nothing special and usually served improperly in glassware or temperature. Obviously, staff is uninformed as I had to tell another patron what ingredients are in a Manhattan when the server didn’t know and made no effort to find out from the bar staff. Food is inconsistent and usually greasy and not at proper temperature. Also, food handling is not up to standards in plain sight. Flies permeate the place and once observed a server using over the counter insectide to fog the restaurant..condiments and all. Definately have not returned and have no plans to take the risk.“

“I feel like a kid in a candy store everytime I go in. Great selection. The staff also seems knowedgeable and will express their thoughts on particular beers or pass on what they have heard from others. Prices are what you’d expect from most liquor stores in the area. They have a large selection of foreign imports.“

“Their beer selection is a thing to marvel at for a restaurant. My biggest hit against Old Chicago is the prices. While good, the food is a bit pricy, as well as the beer. You need to be on the World Beer Tour to get a decent deal. I understand mark-up for imports, but even the local stuff is a little high. Overall, a good place to go.“

“As a resident in the area I frequent the L.A.B. almost weekly. One of the better places in town for a good beer and good food. I am a fan of their chicken fried steak and smothered brew fries. I have been told the onion rings are a must as well. It’s a quaint little place, friendly, knowledgeable staff (for the most part). As for their in-house beers; my personal favorite would have to be the Prairie Pale Ale, solid flavor, good mix of hops, and probably the most consistent. The XXX Black Angus Stout is a solid, malty, creamy stout. Very smooth. Bison Brown Ale also smooth, with a very nice flavor. The Riley’s Red Ale consistently is a good pour. Finally the Wildcat Wheat comes in. Most inconsistent as far as flavor goes, also pretty weak as far as wheats go. As far as prices go, they’re a good deal. Food and beer both fairly priced, and you will get out of there with a smaller bill than at an Applebees or Old Chicago. Overall, a must stop in Manhattan. Great place for a family meal or to get together and drink some suds with friends.“

“Stopped here accidentally as I was visiting Little Apple Brewing, didn’t realize this was the place to go to in Manhattan. The beer selection is good, as good as anything in Lawrence. Fortunately, they are also well priced, everything seemed to be the standard fair price. Again, selection just as good as one could get outside of Witchita or KC. Otherwise, it looks like any large liquor store, not dirty but nothing special. They asked if I needed help, I said no and that was it. The BEST thing about this store is that the wine selection is above that of anything in Lawrence and most of the stores in KC. Port and Italian especially, a real surprise in that category, almost worth a stop just for wine.“
