“Directly behind Wood Winters off-licence on the main road through town, accessed via an alleyway - some signage should help. In its own building, the brewing operation moved out a while back as more space was needed for the pub part of the business, however there's several of their own beers available at any time - 5 on my visit and chatted long with the owner. He used to have 10 available but the business never came back in the same way post COVID. A palate of three 1/3 taster in the cosy low lit barn style surroundings now costs £10. Check out the many used beer bottles above the bar on the right after you enter. Car park at rear.“

“On the main road through the town - the Allanwater Brewhouse is in an alleyway directly behind it. Smart looking wine and whisky shop of a fair size with one shelf of craft brews close to the till. The proprietor helped me choose something local, and I hadn't heard of the brewery before so it was a very successful purchase before heading around the back to sup in the Brewhouse.“

“You really do need to know this place is here to find it as it's quite hidden behind a hotel & down a backstreet. (Stayed in the hotel a few years back and didn't notice!) Shame because this was a quick but much enjoyed visit one Saturday morning, a good number of casks of there casks to try & bottles to take away“

“Times have clearly changed based on earlier reviews - very small selection of bottles, mostly local Scottish stuff. Not really worth a visit.“

“Small brewpub with 8 cask lines and 2 kegs. Flight of 8 beers for £9.95 or 3 thirds for £5 so pretty decent value. Seems to regularly change the lineup so worth a visit for some ticks. A few bottles available, didn't check if there was food.“

“Tucked behind and almost underneath the Queens Hotel, the Allanwater Brewhouse is quite an amazing place. It’s like a croft - very rustic and cosy. There’s a woodburning stove and lots of dark wood with round tables and spindly chairs. The bar is basically a row of six barrels and one wall is covered with beer bottles. To the side of the bar there are rickety looking shelves which constitute the shop and the tiny brewery is just beyond that. The brewery used to be Tinpot but it’s now Wash House. They had a good range of beers on offer - ten casks in all. A great place and well worth seeking out. (Visited 31 January 2017).“

“Given a focus on whisky and wine, this small shop has a very respectable selection of craft beers. Perhaps as many as 80 bottles to pick from, these are kept at room temperature in the front of the store. Outstanding, friendly service: she even printed out a list of tasting notes for the beers I purchased.“

“Based largely of the 2nd (July 2016) of two visits to this nano-brewery near Stirling. Brewery specializes in a rotating variety of mainstream and esoteric cask ales. There were at least 8 on tap during each vist, plus at least one cider. It has a cozy, beer-centric taproom. Very good service. Low beer quality detracts from the appeal of this pub.“

“I found this a really weird place. It is located down a small side street and is not well sign-posted. Inside it is smallish and dimly lit and is a bit shabby, which is a marked contrast to the new website. I visited Monday lunchtime and was the only person in the bar. There are hundreds of old bottles on the shelves around the bar. 6 taps for Tinpot Beers and 2 for cider were in use. The adjacent room had the bottle shop. A lot of Tinpot and TSA beers. A significant number were unfamiliar to me. As I was driving I did not sample the cask beers but bought 8 bottles. Most of them were passed printed best by date and had a new handwritten replacement best by date - Wonder what they will be like. Barman was friendly but did not know much about the beer which was disappointing. I was fascinated by this place and look forward to going back to sample the cask beers, all of which were strange and new to me.“

“An upmarket off-licence with a small selection of local beers. Friendly helpful staff. Reasonable prices. Not great for beers but a nice store and it is the best in town.“
