58 /100 SLIGACHAN Visited August 2023.
Just visited for the Cuillin beers, Cuillin brewery its just on the corner. Service was good but in the tourist mode.
Next one please! |
68 /100 SLIGACHAN Bar with a huge selection of whisky and a small selection of their own Cuillin beers. |
74 /100 SLIGACHAN Visited this place twice during my recent holiday. Lovely space and good food though not cheap. 3 cask ales from in house Cullin brewery plus a few other Scottish microbreweries. The in house beer isn't amazing but nice enough and good place to drink it. Good music too! |
58 /100 SLIGACHAN Sort of like a glorified backpackers lodge, worth stopping to have their own beers, although the qulaity of those isn’t the greatest. |
76 /100 SLIGACHAN A large facility with a 1st rate selection of whisky, 3 ales brewed on premises, several other beers on tap, and a variety of bottled beer. Excellent food. |
66 /100 SLIGACHAN Large hall with high ceiling, with bar at the one end of the room. They were serving 4 real ales in addition of 15 or so bottled ales. Impressive whisky selection. Beerwise this place is better than anything I’ve stumbled upon in Portree. |
58 /100 SLIGACHAN 2014-07-01. Like the large hall version of a pub, tartan carpets, flags up for World Cup. Smallish garden out front and patio tables out back with a mountain view. Fish is decent but not great, same for the chips. House beers are all quite mild and either not great or casks are a bit off. Good spot to stop for a traffic break between the ferry and Portree but definitely not amazing. I didn’t dislike the place but it is just a tad odd overall.

68 /100 SLIGACHAN The Seumas bar is attached to the Sligachan hotel, which is located in the centre of Skye on the main road towards Portree. The bar itself is fairly large inside and seems pretty geared towards pulling in the tourists with tartan carpets and Scottish Pipe music pumping out! But don’t let put you off, as it is actually quite a nice place. The bar is attached to the tiny Cuillin brewery and they offer 4 beers on cask and 1 in bottle. Condition was great and as such I enjoyed their beers more than I ever have before. They also have a rather great whisky selection. Food is hearty trad Scottish fayre and the Cullen Skink hit the spot. Friendly and attentive staff also. An essential visit when on Skye. |
64 /100 SLIGACHAN Brewpub on the main road to Portree. The brewpub aspect is actually not that enticing - while the beers aren’t available elsewhere they aren’t very good. The food’s not bad, though, which for this part of Scotland is saying something, and they have about a million whiskies here. Great whisky selection - good enough for us to come back more than once. |
72 /100 SLIGACHAN I’m completely amazed that this place wasn’t previously added to Ratebeer. It’s the only brewpub on Skye and these beers aren’t usually found on tap in other locations. The surrounding scenery would compete with anything found anywhere else in the world, never mind Scotland. Yes, they have the usual beers found in mono-pubs but that could be forgiven. The most incredible thing however is the nearly 400 malt whiskies available to sample. |
