46 /100 Karstens Public House (Restaurant) MILE 238.9 PARKS HWY Largest restaurant on the McKinley Chalet Resort, some or limited service. Food was good and selection was a limited selection of locals and commons. |
72 /100 Sled Dog Liquor (Beer Store) MILE 238.5 PARKS HWY Nice selection, Stone, Lindemans, locals, common, from what I saw, this is the best Liquor store in Denali. |
52 /100 Park Mart Store (Grocery Store) MILE 238.6, PARKS HWY One of the few liquor store in Denali, lots of local and common beers, a few imported such as the Lindemans. |
64 /100 Canyon Steakhouse (Restaurant) 238.8 GEORGE PARKS HWY Stopped by after our tour in the Denali National Park, time to eat some good food. A nice local limited variety of local beer. |
84 /100 Moose-Aka’s (Restaurant) 238.9 GEORGE PARKS HWY likely the best restaurant in town, everything is well thought/planned, even their small beer selection. Got a nice Lindemans Framboise to accompany a great meal. Fantastic experience! |
44 /100 McKinley View Lodge (Trapper Creek) (Restaurant) MILE 134, GEORGE PARKS HWY Only place in this remote area, beggars can’t be choosers. |
80 /100 Prospector’s Historic Pizzeria & Alehouse (Restaurant) MILE MARKER 238.9 PARKS HWY Visited for lunch. About 50 beers on tap, with the majority from Alaska. Samples were made available. Great bartender. Pizza was very good. Prices were as expected in Denali (high). Glad I stopped in and would again! |
74 /100 Prospector’s Historic Pizzeria & Alehouse (Restaurant) MILE MARKER 238.9 PARKS HWY So again, the kids picked this out of a list of potential supper spots; win for me! Unfortunately it was totally slammed on the evening of July 2nd; we had an hour long wait for food. I was able to grab something from the bar while we waited though. Cool old place, caribou antler chandeliers, lots of old photos on the walls. Beer list on TV monitors, scrolls too fast to read everything and there are advertisement screens that last longer than the beer screens. 53 taps, although quite a few were out and the bartender said that he had no time to update the taplist or even to swap kegs as they blew, which seems like a poor business decision. Bunch of Belgian beers, decent selection of locals as well, although what they had was not as good as what they showed. when we finally did get our table the food was good, although of course they messed up my wife’s order so she was pissed off. In general it was a good enough place, but they clearly were not up to the challenge of dealing with a packed house, on either the beer or the food side. Oh, and there were no samples or flights available that night due to the busyness. I can see why this place might get high ratings, but based on my single experience I am having trouble piling on the praise. |
90 /100 Prospector’s Historic Pizzeria & Alehouse (Restaurant) MILE MARKER 238.9 PARKS HWY Great place. Super tap selection. Fresh beer. Great pizza. Friendly. A must do stop. |
92 /100 Prospector’s Historic Pizzeria & Alehouse (Restaurant) MILE MARKER 238.9 PARKS HWY With all those taps of rare AK brews (at least in the lower 48), having samples @ $2/per pour seems like a slice of heaven. Add to that a staff that is familiar with the brews, an ambience that seems a little "goldrush-y," and, of course, the good pizza, it is declared a winner. |
80 /100 Prospector’s Historic Pizzeria & Alehouse (Restaurant) MILE MARKER 238.9 PARKS HWY Although the atmosphere isn’t what 49th State has, it’s still an awesome beer bar that could hold its own in any beer city. The selection of taps is extraordinary and impressive, and they rotate frequently because of the relatively educated young beer populace that passes by, and it’s crowded most nights during the summer. The Alaskan beer selection is well-curated and expansive, and you can try many that you might not have access to otherwise. They even have some 49th State beers that the Healy brewpub down the road didn’t have on tap! The international and mainland US selections were likewise a well-chosen set including all ends of the beer spectrum. The pizza is very good, albeit expensive. Servers know their stuff; and one was also an assistant brewer at 49th State. Another impressive Alaskan beer destination. |
88 /100 Prospector’s Historic Pizzeria & Alehouse (Restaurant) MILE MARKER 238.9 PARKS HWY Best beer bar in Alaska. It’s not even close. A massive tap list. The stuff they get from AK is the good shit, too. Lots of 49th State (duh) but others as well. Only place I saw Anchorage Brewing on tap. Import draughts were impressive. Bartenders know their beer. Pizza good, too. Just all round top notch. |
80 /100 Prospector’s Historic Pizzeria & Alehouse (Restaurant) MILE MARKER 238.9 PARKS HWY Stopped here for lunch on the way back from Fairbanks. Tables inside and outside and a big bar with some bar seating. Service was good considering how busy it was. 49 beers on tap, over half were Alaska beers with a great selection of US micros and imports. Food was really good, salad and pizza were excellent. Value is really good on beer and food considering it’s at the park. This is a great stop in a place that is riddled with tourist traps. |
46 /100 Crow’s Nest Overlook Bar and Grill (Restaurant) PARKS HIGHWAY At the entrance to Denali National Park, this little restaurant and beer bar incorrectly bills itself as having the "largest beer selection in Alaska" ... well, not quite (see Humpy’s), but for the environs they do have a good roster. We didn’t eat, but you can, and there’s a decent view (but boring after a few days in the park). They have a few good regional selections on tap, including most of the Alaskan Brewing’s options, plus a nice list of bottles. We waited for 10 minutes for a waiter before just going to the bar ourselves, so low points for service, but if you’re staying overnight in the area, it’s worth a visit. |
