“I tried their Swingin' Berries years ago at the MBG Summer Fest and was intrigued, and finally I got to stop by. Strong variety of beers on tap, and while they weren't all incredible, they were still well beyond "drinkable" (the aforementioned Swingin' Berries is still incredible though). The only disappointment was the 2014 bottle of St. Gin's that I took home. Service was pretty attentive, though there weren't many customers there when we stopped in. As for food, the Lasagna Rolls sounded interesting, but they were pretty "eh." The margherita pizza, however, was *amazing*. We stayed inside for our visit, but took a quick look around outside afterward, and I can definitely say the next time we're there we'll be taking our beers outside to the garden. Beautiful.“

“New location north of town is cozy in either winter or summer. The new address is 1370 N Long Lake Rd, not what’s listed above. Beers are good and their pizza is the menu highlight. Kid friendly (as most in Michigan are) so that makes it appealing to bring the family. Any of the ratings below based on the description of location are not accurate anymore.“

“Located in a strip mall in downtown Fenton, this store carries a large selection of craft beers focusing on Michigan brews, but also including out-of-state and Imported brews. The owner will help you find what you are looking for and allows you to mix and match singles from four or six packs.“

Fenton Fire Hall (Restaurant)

“We have long been a fan of the Clarkston Union, and when we discovered this place was going up, there was much anticipation. The refurb of the fire hall is awesome, lots of attention to detail and a very cool place. We came there late one night, so did not have any of the food. However we did dig into the beer list. I think the one area that needs more attention is the service and level of knowledge around their beer selection. Clarkston Union is known for having an extensive beer list (along with awesome food), and very knowledgable wait staff. So the expectation was the same for the Fire Hall. However expectations have not been met. Service was slow and they need people who know their beer, not college kids on summer break. Fix this piece, and this place becomes a beer mecca.“

“Update: On the second trip to FFH during a huge snowstorm (still a two hour wait) the server told us that the beer menu was outdated and most of the selections were no longer available, however she couldn’t tell us what WAS available. Since this is a beer rating site and FFH couldn’t communicate their offerings (or even seem to care) this is a problem that needs to be fixed. OR you could look at it this way - you get two hours to try to figure out the tap list! Previous review: The dream has become a reality with the opening of the Fenton Fire Hall. A painstakingly refurbished old fire station now is home to the Union Joints latest venture. Smoky (from the centerpiece wood fired pit) and loud, this place has all the good vibe of its older sibling - The Clarkston Union - and then some. Upon arrival we were told that there was a three hour wait for dinner and that we could head downstairs to the bar (there is also one on the main level). In the 30 minutes or so that we stood at the very crowded bar we befriended others who experienced a similar wait and told us that the bartenders completely avoided eye contact. Together we united to force some attention and finally got served! However, later, our food server, Tracy, more than made up for that by giving very friendly and attentive service while we dined. The food was awesome...I had the pan seared Octopus with a shaved Brussel sprout salad - both fantastic. The menu is an open fire masterpiece! Fourtyeight beers on tap with a nice selection of fairly commonly available brews, but also had DFH 120 Minute for an after dinner wallop. Can’t wait to try out the roof deck that overlooks the Shiawassee River falls and the Fenton millpond. The only drawback to this place is that the FFH will be jam-packed whenever you decide to go...plan on waiting.“

“This place is a great brunch spot, with a lot of fancy sandwiches, and great waffles. The bar area is small but they do have a nice selection of MI beers. Great atmosphere. Worth the stop if hungry when in the area.“

“A neat place that offers a fantastic food selection with an eclectic atmosphere. It offered top notch food while not feeling too stuffy. The tap list was a bit small but had a nice variety of MI brews. The menu also provided style selections with every single item. I wish more places followed suit.“

“I wish I could like this place, I really do. I thought the ambiance was quite comfortable, and they’ve obviously put a lot of effort into the place. The service was outstanding. The two young ladies behind the bar explained everything to us, engaged in conversation about the beers, and kept checking on us while we sat We had a special BLT sandwich which was pretty good, too. The problem, then, is the beer. In a word, it’s nasty. We acquired samples of nine of the twelve available (we skipped the ones that sounded like they were intended for Coors drinkers), and couldn’t stomach a single one. Some of them tasted vaguely to style, but I was reminded of home brew, even though they claim to be a grain brewery. My wife thought a couple of the beers tasted like "dirty rags." I hate being so tough on them because they had a wide variety of styles and seemed to be experimenting with some things, which I appreciate. But we didn’t even finish the samples. They were simply undrinkable. To recover we jumped back on our bikes and rode five miles to the Blackthorn Pub in Holly, where we drowned our miseries in wonderful Rogue Nitro Stout.“

“Nice restaurant with a few taps and huge number of bottles. The ambiance was nice the food was excellent. Great place to go for really good food, a big bottle list and a few Michigan micros on tap. I’m more into the multi tappers or folks who brew their own. Well worth a visit.“

“I generally don’t have time to rate places, but thought I needed to chime in to give a different perspective from the previous review. Paintedmaple must have been having a really bad day when he wrote his review. I love this place! Been visiting for about 1-1/2 years, and their new expansion is great! The decor reminds me of a cross between a wine bar and a coffee house - warm, relaxing, and with some lounge chairs that are great for chilling. Lots of games to pass the time. With their new 12 tap beer line up, plus 22 wines (3 on draft!), there’s something for everybody in your party. 8 regular beers on tap with 4 rotating. They tend to always have some unique beers available on rotation - a Bourbon Hopped Russian Imperial Stout and, if I remember correctly, a new barrel-aged Scottish Wee Heavy releasing soon, just to name a few. This place is definitely worth checking out when you’re in the area! They have a nice food menu. Simple, but a great compliment to the beverages. You can definitely fill yourself up. I try to get there on Friday or Saturday nights when they have some great local musicians playing on stage.“

“This place seems to strive to be a comfortable, cool lounge, however it comes off as awkward and cheesy. In a small strip mall, the interior walls are blood red and little electric fireplaces "burn" about the place. I was drawn in by the number of high gravity beers on tap that they make on site. I tried two and while not bad; they were uninspired, suprisingly thin, and simple. I would describe the food similarly.“

“Holy Cow, I love The French Laundry! It is expensive, but you get LARGE portions and a huge selection. I always make sure to come really hungry. They have a shorter tap selection, but tons of bottled beers. They also carry Zingermans breads. It is usually packed, and they only take reservations for their supper club members, which is basically free to join ($10 to join, then they give you a $10 gift card, and lots of perks). If you "like" them on facebook you can read about their specials, whats on tap, and upcoming events because they update daily.“

“I went to this place a few weeks back, and was very surprised it wasn’t on ratebeer! This place is incredible. It serves as a coffee shop/bakery by day, and a high class restaurant by night. They have at least 60 GOOD beers in the bottle, and I’m not sure how many taps, but it looked like a lot. The food was amazing, and cleverly titled. It was a bit pricey, but I believe well worth it. When I was there i had the Dogfish Head Midas Touch, as well as Samuel Smith’s oatmeal stout. If your in the brighton/howell area, I highly suggest going there. Cheers!“
