“Neptunes is a 15 minute walk from Katabatic, if you are so inclined. This is a true small town bar, small tables and a bar, Front porch kind of like a house’s, but converted to a handicapped access ramp. Friendly service, asked me if I was on BA and did not seem put out when I said RB. 10 taps on, flights of four were $6 again, perhaps $7 I can’t remember. Of the four, two were pretty solid, two were pretty mediocre. You pays your money, and you takes your chances.“

“Finally back in Montana. Popped out to Livingston to try some new shit. Katabatic is a couple of blocks off main, kind of the edge of "town" plenty of street parking available. The place is large and open, lots of longish tables and a decent sized bar. They don’t have their own food, but you can order from the Mexican place next door. They have about 8 beers on tap, four "regulars" and four "rotating." Not sure how much experimenting they do in the rotating beers - everything I tried was in the DB and there are not many total rate for most of these. Service was attentive and good. Flights of four 4 oz pours are like $6. Beer quality was not so great; pretty mediocre in fact, although the Mosaic Pale Ale was solid. Nice place, could use a beer quality infusion.“

“Stopped in here, not really expecting anything but a bite to eat. While the food was excellent, the tap list was a surprise and a treat. Mostly Montana locals, and nicely varied in style. The service is from the counter only, and while friendly and quick, I didn’t exactly get to gauge her knowledge of beer. Very fair pint prices. This is a very nice bar and restaurant - good food and local beer.“

“Small spot a bit of the interstate. Got a sample tray of 9 beers and a mead. No IPA/DIPA on during my visit. Be prepared as these guys give you ABV for the three pint law, LOL. Did not have time to try the Thai.“

“Had a leisurely lunch, tasting all 9 of the beers on draft. Some very good ones. Really friendly and laid back place. Blue grass playing over the sound system set the vibe. Had a terrific green curry. The cook asked how spicy I wanted it. Offered a tour of the brewery. How cool is that? Update a year later. New owner and brewer. Beers are still decent, but the food leaves something to be desired. The magic seems to have evaporated.“

“A slight drive off the interstate. Staff was friendly. Decent variety on tap. Had the Sharkbite IPA (pass) and the Chocolate Cream Porter (not bad). But what offset the decent visit was the nautical setup- somewhat creepy. It didn’t flow with anything around the place or for Montana for that matter!“

“Small building is easy to find off the main drag in Livingston. Parking up front or on the street. Small seating area and bar is kind of dark and has lots of nautical themed stuff (wow, no kidding?) on display. Cool fish tank behind the bar. Nine brews on tap with a friendly and informative bartender made this a fun stop. $7.50 for a growler fill is awesome! They aren’t open that much, 4-8pm seven days a week and 11:30-1:30 during the week, so it’s been hard to fit this stop in during my trips across the state. Food looks good, I’ll definitely try to stop in again soon.“

“Located directly off Park St. with parking for 4 to 6 cars in front. Patio with tables in the front. Bar in the front middle of building with a large fish tank behind bar. Nine taps. Freindly owner and brewmaster with good beer knowledge of their and others in the state. All above average to very good brews with the style, so far, as complex and smooth. A shining star in the middle of Billings and Bozeman that is well worth a visit.“
