62 /100 Callahan’s Liquor Store (Beer Store) 100 W 6TH ST. I was going up Rt 29 and I have not yet bought a beer in NE yet. I stopped in and grabbed a six pack of porter paid and left. A nice enough place. |
68 /100 Hy Vee Wine & Spirits - South Sioux City (Beer Store) 2501 CORNHUSKER PLAZA Another solid Hy Vee. Good mix-6 selection. A few bombers but not as many as Hy Vee’s in the Quad Cities area. Great, helpful service here. |
38 /100 Callahan’s Liquor Store (Beer Store) 100 W 6TH ST. Not a great beer store. Very small selection of singles in a walk in cooler. Some 6-packs of other stuff. Maybe it’s okay for the area, but it’s not all that good. |
84 /100 Callahan’s Liquor Store (Beer Store) 100 W 6TH ST. Callahans is a little liqour store right over the bridge from sioux city to south sioux. They have always had a decent beer selection but have really upped the ante over the past couple years. Great selection of micro brews plus there always changing stock and trying new brews. They also carry 2 of my favorite breweries Lagunitas, and Stone, both west coast breweries which are rare in western iowa. Service is ok, most people working don’t know much
about types of beer so don’t expect any helpful reviews. They have a walk-in cooler which has a good selection of beers and there prices are very reasonable, $8.99 for a six pack of brown suga, %10 abv is unheard of. Overall my favorite place to buy beer in the siouxland area. Charlies liqour in sioux city is damn good, better service and still a good selection but a lil pricier so Callahan’s reigns supreme. |
48 /100 Hy Vee Wine & Spirits - South Sioux City (Beer Store) 2501 CORNHUSKER PLAZA One of the few places in tri-state region of Iowa, South Dakota, and Nebraska that has a decent selection of American craft beer. Most are 12 ounce singles that you can mix and match into your own six-pack. Have a few better selections in refrigerators from Ommegang, Chimay, Great Divide, Millstream, Boulevard, New Belgium, etc. NOt really a destination beer store, but really one of very few options for getting decent beer in the region. Staff is lazy and not at all helpful, the scene is a large strip mall behind a huge parking lot. |
