Croxley's Ale House (Restaurant)
129 NEW HYDE PARK ROAD
“Visited in May 2023. Small bar and grill with a bar in the center with sitting spaces on both sides of the bar. Over 50 beers on tap with some rarer alternatives from Long Island. Typical bar food menu, with a sports bar theme with a number of screens on. A very good place to visit.“

“I grew up in the area and it was a great starter bar to start my path of a beer enthusiast. They do have a large selection of tap and bottle beers, however it is nothing that really blows your mind or is exceptional. The food is pretty good but avg pub food and the staff is friendly but can miss you when the bar is crowded.“

“I stopped by there with several friends around 6pm for the first time and I was pleasantly surprised by the tap selection. It tried to cover most of the bases with selections from craft to macro brewers. While its not Spuyten Duyvil or Barcade with its selection, it does stand out among LI bars with what I saw last night. I had a Leffe Blond, Smuttynose IPA and a Brooklyn Brown with a great Ale House burger. The staff were friendly and it had a lot of tv sets tuned into various sports. I hope to return there again for another tasting as I think it is a very good place.“

“Stopped here while I was in the neighborhood. Has 60 taps, (not 96), of which many are things like Yuengling, Hoegaarden, Pilsner Urquell, Stella, and many other easily accessible generics. The bartenders don’t really know there stuff. I had a quick chat with one of the bartenders, and he said Unibroue was from Belgium. I stopped that conversation there. What did impress me was the fact that they had a monthly bottle special of Unibroue Quelque Chose (the limited edition 2002 version) for $8, that’s pretty good. I had one there and got one to go. I don’t think they realize the "rareness" of the older bottlings of that stuff. From what I’ve read and heard the new bottlings of that are crap. Anyway the place is only has a few taps out of the 60 that are somewhat worth heading out for. They have some microbrew locals like Sixpoint and Chelsea. Not bad overall, nothing to go out of the way for.“

“I have been to Croxley’s a bunch of times. Beer list is somewhat extensive, but they haven’t had anything on tap that has really wowed me. If I could give one tip to their management, it would be: If you are going to say that you proudly don’t serve budweiser or coors, do not carry Killians or Blue Moon! Or just don’t make that claim. Other than that though, service is usually decent.“

“Fantastic line up of beer selection from around the globe and primarily the states. The beer is always freshed and well maintained. The space is a little tight at times and getting a table can be a chore but if you succeed the buffalo wings are a staple at this establishment and don’t leave without trying them with a good beer at your side.“

“Despite the bout of food poisoning after the 2003 New york blackout (I shouldn’t have ordered the mushroom burger 2 nights later), it has great food and a great beer selection.“

“If you want a good selection of some of the best tap beer from around the world...this is the place on Long Island to go to. THEY DON’T SERVE COORS OR BUD....or any real commercial beer. Just the best brews from around the nation. Sit down on mon or wed and enjoy 10 cent wings with your favorite beer. Or feel free to experiment with many different styles. I recommend their burgers. Especially The Ale House Burger. You can go wrong! They also have a great sliced steak sandwich which is out of this world! Wings can be hit or miss, depending on how busy they are. Oh! and make sure you get cajun fries with your burger. They blow away most other fries. Enjoy! ~Mike“
