“Kills strength are pils, very drinkable and well executed. Drinkable other styles. Ny area patrons are louder than ever,so that subtracts from vibe. Most cans past dated because of impending move I was told, still able to get a pils as longer shelf life.“

“Located about a 10 to 15 minute walk from the ferry terminal, this brewery in a large warehouse makes visiting Staten Island worth the effort besides the view of Manhattan from the ferry. Visited just after they'd opened for the day, the spacious place was deserted but that allowed for a chat or two with the helpful guy serving us. Flights available, beers are decent. Liked the Oyster Stout the best. Enjoyed our time here.“

“Reachable after a brisk 15 min walk from the ferry terminal, the place was more barren than I expected. Since they have been around for quite a while. I expected a more sophisticated taproom. The place is a large and squat room with a lot of communal tables. No food is available. 14 beers on tap, a few cans and growlers available. The place seem to rent out for birthdays and other celebrations apparently. Nothing especially striking but the beers are generally not bad.“

“Giant warehouse space decorated with a fair amount of assorted rubbish. Beers ranged from bad to OK. Flights available, they ran out of glasses so some of my flight came in little plastic cups, which seemed pretty odd given there were maybe 10 people in a space that seats orders of magnitude more than that. Certainly wouldn't be my top recommendation for a visit, but it was fine.“

“Neighborhood pub feel with great food and friendly service. Beers are excellent, flights available, a reasonable range of styles for a trendy NYC brewery, though a little heavy on sour IPAs on my visit. I think Kills Boro would be among the NYC brewery elite if they weren't hidden away on Staten Island. If you're doing the touristy free ferry to Staten Island then you might as well get a few tasty ticks out of it.“

“We came here on 30.6.2018. Only 10 minutes walking from the ferry terminal, so you can combine a liberty statue sightseeing trip with a visit to this brewery. Very solid brewpub with 6 standard beers and 3 seasonals. Liked the hazy session IPA and the Wit beer. Nice deciration with a huge USA flag made of wood.“

“Nice brewpub just a short walk from the Staten Island Ferry. Bar in front with some seating, bigger seating area in the next room with the brewery behind it and a nice beer garden. 12 - 14 tap's, 8 house beers of fine quality and some good guest beer + 2 ciders. Food is classical pub grub, but good at what it is. Flights of any 4 beers for 10$ . Good and fast service. Pretty busy on a sunny afternoon in April. Nice place. Didnt like the marmalade jars they served the flights and smaller pours in, even though they got some really nice glassvare.“

“New brewery, but previously existing pub. The interior area is not very large, with a small bar and a few tables. Friendly bartenders are there. Food is available but we arrived at a point when it wasn't being served. It is BBQ and burgers and looked petty good. There were about eight house beers on tap and about four guest taps, plus a bunch of bottles and cans. The beer was pretty solid as well. The place is super close to Flagship, and it would be worth hitting both on one trip.“

River Dock Cafe (Restaurant)

“Hundreds, maybe thousands of tourists take the free Staten Island Ferry every day to enjoy the great views of both Statue of Liberty and of Lower Manhattan. All have to leave the ferry and you will find River Dock Cafe conveniently located at the St. George Terminal. Flagship Brewing Company nearby is a better craft beer destination, but they are not open Monday-Wednesday. That’s why we ended up in this seafood restaurant. Panoramic windows and great views of the Manhattan skyline. Nice outdoor seating with the same view. Beer selection is not bad: 14 taps, among those an apa from Flagship Brewing. Efficient service, nice seafood but to loud music. (Visited with my family June 21st 2016“

“Probably one of the better if not best in the limited selection of craft beer places on Staten Island...obviously number one if you are only talking Staten Island breweries. We visited during the summer when they had an event in the lot out front of the brewery with music and food. It was a lot of fun. As for the place...decent brewery tap room...pretty good beers...but limited selection so far. Definitely worth a visit but don’t go too far out of your way.“

“Brewery #3 on 2015 5 Boro Brew Tour. Took ferry over and this is short walk from there. Big warehouse brewery with long beer hall tables. Lots of brews were available and flights were reasonable. Fun place.“

“I’m glad that Staten Island now has two breweries. That means that each borough now has at least one brewery to call its own. Flagship is located in a somewhat difficult to find warehouse on the Staten Island waterfront. For those not from SI, it is easy to reach on the ferry. The decor is standard beer hall, with picnic tables on the inside and giant vats of beer at the back. The decor inside was pretty nice with a giant elk head right above the bar. The beers are rather good. Nothing here is really all that experimental, but it is clear that everything is made with care and attention to detail. The beers are also rather accessible to people who are not beer nerds/enthusiasts/fanatics. Beer are available in flights or in pints. They randomly had a bingo drawing on the Sunday that I was there. We lost. Someone else won a beer. Good for her. They also got a bunch of board games, including off-brand Jenga. Instead we played scategories and cards against humanity. Good times. Music choices could have been better as well, but I am sure other people may have liked them.“

“The beer is very good but limited. They usually carry around 6 styles. The owners are very nice and the head brewer was from out west. First time I went here I was there around an hour before opening on way back from Manhattan. Rather than turn me away they allowed me to stay and converse with a owner. The beer was very good but limited selection. They don’t sell food at the location but offer food at only the best available local locations with quick delivery. I highly pier 76. Glad to see Staten Island finally has a world class beer establishment.“

“Superb selection of basically every Russian, Lithuanian, and Ukrainian beer made, with tons of German and Belgian brews as well as a selection of others (eg Czech). Growlers sold and filled too, though I didn’t try that. It’s a supermarket, so don’t go expecting attentive service, but prices are seriously fantastic--well cheaper than local corner or ethnic stores.“

“Atmospheric place that tries to recreate a typical Bavarian brauhaus. Beer list is heavy on the German stuff with a smattering of American and other microbrews. Food is about what you’d expect. It’s possible to skip the food and just come to the bar.“

“Nice ambiance with a rustic/old time feel. The service is friendly, but slightly slow, and the beer knowledge isn’t stellar. The selection isn’t very special, although they have a decent German bottle list and the prices are very fair. Only a small mark up on bottles, some of the imported German stuff is only $4. The food is pretty average- decent wurst, and pretty good chicken schnitzel. I ordered the bratwurst, smoked bratwurst and weisswurst. I accompanied the meal with a Schrenkerla Marzen. The bottle was $7, which is a great price, considering it’s about $5 at the stores. Not a bad place overall- again, it’s nice, but the food is only average and it’s not a place for beer geekery, but more just a conventional German beer restaurant.“

“The place is really small but the selection is the best SI has to offer. They have six constantly changing growlers and they offer a few hard to find beers on tap. They have improved their selection immensely in the last few years. They have a full selection of Founders, Cigar City, Dogfish Head, Southern Tier, Firestone Walker, Alesmith, Hoppin Frog and a fine selection of Belgium’s. The staff is young and knowledgeable. The owner Wayne is very accommodating and helpful.“

“Great little restaurant offers Mexican and south western cuisine. Has over a hundred beers to choose from a lot of staples with a few off the path selections. Not much of a tap selection most their beers are from bottle. They usually have live music on weekends.“

“Been wanting to check this place out now for awhile. Stopped by around 2:30pm for a late lunch with a friend. Parking isn’t that great, its on a busy avenue with meters. Bier garden seemed to be closed when i was there. Anyway the beer list is pretty must all German beers, and one or two BMC thrown in there. The Bavarian pretzels are great and my bacon cheese burger was excellent. Also had to have a glass of the weheinstephaner hefeweiss on tap and they threw in a slice of lemon. I’m definitely going back to this place.“

“Very nice bottle list - about 150 beers. This is truly the only beer bar on Staten Island that I know of. It is a 25-min walk from the Ferry terminal, or instead, take the S40 bus to the corner of Richmond Terrace & Lafayette Ave, then walk 1 block away from the water. I could see how some might like this more than Killmeyer’s, though I prefer Killmeyer’s bavarian old world ambiance (even though Killmeyer’s has only about 40 beers). Adobe is a southwestern restaurant with friendly staff. Sadly, their beer menu prints ratings from BeerAdvocate and not RateBeer.“

“Being the only active Staten Island ratebeerian (even thought I have moved), I should talk about htis place. IMO its better than Killmeyers. Selection changes more often and the bartender knows more about beer. Basically, its a tex-mex restaurant with a decent beer selction. Only 5 taps, change and usually see Newcastle, Guiness, and Woodchuck cider. Those types but once in a while they get a Magic Hat or something similar (had6points once). The bottles are about 150 standard (menu says 180 but its wrong). I mean your basic good beer store selection. But there is a chalk board of recent arrivals. That changes monthly. This is what makes it nice. the service is great there which is very hard to say for some other places. I like the food, its Tex Mex and hard to mess up. I suggest giving this a shot over Killmeyers if your unfortunately stuck on the island.“

“Just went to this place about a week ago. When it comes to beer in Staten Island than there really isn’t much choose. Ambiance - well its as average as an average beer distributor is. Service, I guess they can help you pick out something, if they had anything to really pick out. They pretty much have Duvel, Chimay, Unibroue, Brooklyn, DFH and a random 6 pack of a micro thats nothing special. THATS ALL. I guess if you are stuck right near it and really fiending than go but otherwise dont bother.“

“Apparently, I am the only ratebeerian that visits Staten Island (unfortunately I live here as well). The best thing about this pace is the ambiance. The waitresses all dress in bavarian wear and the place looks like a German bar. The selection is ok. Lots of german brews but nothing special (Spaten on tap at all ttimes). Some micros, some belgians, and a beer from a few other countries is represented. Again nothing special. The bar service is usually sub-par at the bar. I have been here numerous times and it always the same. Tonight, I asked the bar tender what the Brooklyn Fortitude was and he said a strong ale. Thanks for clearing things up, buddy. I have visited this place just for the bar and also as a sit down restuarant. Again, ambiance is great, beer slection is there but nothing special and service could be lacking. The food is average-below average.“

“Killmeyer’s Old Bavaria Inn is truly special. Their website will give you some background on the place, but it’s to be seen to be believed how authentic and charming this century-old German brauhaus/restaurant really is. Waitresses wear German Oktoberfest garb, and the beer menu features about 60 German brews, plus assorted others such as BluePoint and Dogfish Head. Yet the highlight is the bar itself. Constructed in the 1890s in the Bowery neighborhood of Manhattan (Bowery Ave. & 2nd St.), the 80-foot long mahogany bar was transported to Staten Island by boat where it was assembled. Behind the bar is a towering and intricately ornate 9-foot mahogany piece that holds the hard liquor and contains glass-doored refrigeration cases for German bottled beers. The staff were friendly and German food is served. The building’s origin dates from around 1907 when a Mr. Killmeyer opened a brauhaus, restaurant and hotel on the site. A framed copy of the Reinheitsgebot hangs on the wall. I absolutely LOVED this place’s atmosphere, as it is even more steeped in tradition than Manhattan’s Zum Schneider, which is saying something.“
