“Large place with some outside sitting, decent food, 8 own beers plus 3 guest on tap on the day I visited; free WiFi, flights available, beer is decent if unexceptional, quick service but you sometimes not get what you ordered“

“A ways away from downtown but worth the short trip. Park on the side or in back of the stripmall. Bare bones place inside, mainly just an L-shaped bar and a single TV. Five beers on offer with flights of four served in plastic cups on a dry erase mat, not the greatest presentation. Beers were decent enough for a 3 barrel system. The Germany map on the wall kept us chatting for about an hour, very friendly and knowledgeable staff and clientele. They obviously have a local following. One to watch.“

“Corner location in a characterful old building that has been a social hub of one sort or another for about a century. Long bar and some restaurant tables, small brewhouse at one end of the bar. Just four beers on offer when I stopped in, a slimmer choice than usual because of the busy holiday, but that's a good sign. They did have two guest beers from Brown Truck. Flights of four, conveniently enough. Their best beer was a collab with Wooden Robot and was delicious; a second was solid, and the other two were just OK - a lot better than many NC breweries. They do crowlers in both 32oz and 16 oz sizes, first time I've seen that. No food, but after 4pm you can order a limited menu from McDoul's Irish Pub next door, and their food is tasty trad Irish. Great service, very friendly and chatty. Worth going out of your way to visit, and perfect competition for that place across the street.“

“Visited early March, 2018 during a tuba conference. Cool enough place - we had a great time. Dark on a Saturday evening, lots of wood and metal, cement, standard hip brewery industrial feel. Bartenders were prompt and friendly and happy to talk about the brews if you asked. Beers were pretty tasty. I'd definitely head back in if I were in town!“

“Visited early March 2018 during a tuba conference. Cool enough place - it was kinda busy on the weekend night we went, so we grabbed beers and sat outside for nice conversation. Bartenders were prompt and friendly, beer was pretty decent. I'd be back if I were in the area!“

“Visited early March, 2018 while in town for a tuba conference. We came here a couple/few times, actually, and had a great time. Big place, wood, metal, and cement abound. Huge bar with lots of space, hanging handwritten taplist. They had pretty tasty beer and a chill vibe. I'd definitely be back for ticks if I found myself in town!“

“Leveneleven brewing and taproom recently opened up to the public. Located in an older strip mall type of place directly across the street from the Greeneboro Coliseum. They have really done a lot to get this place going. Plenty of parking outside in a private lot. Inside its all new and clean. Very cool wood bar area. Restrooms were clean and well lit. Service was good, with samples, flights, pints all readily available. Including information on the beers, their names, and life in general! House beers out of the gate were really good, as were their collaborations with other area brewers. Super cool place, definitely worth the trip. I looked for Travler, even called out for him.. but alas he was not here! Better luck next time!!“

“It is located near the tracks not far for UNCG. It has a spacious area with a food truck outside. There are table seats and chairs around a common seating area. There are eight taps from Gibb's plus six pack cans that can be taken out. The flight were seven dollars for four.“

“Newly opened brewery in downtown Greensboro on Elm Street, right across from the iconic Natty Greene's. Super cool building sitting on the corner with antique corner entrance. Very warm inviting feel. Inside is very nice with bar space, some high top tables and a nice window seat area up front. Service was very fast and very friendly. There is food on the menu and it looked nice, but I didnt get any on this visit. Restrooms were clean. The whole place was clean and well lit. I enjoyed my visit and plan to return soon. I looked for Travler, even called out for him, but alas he was nowhere to be found!!! Better luck next time!!“

“Not a lot of room as the place is small. The staff is friendly. They have outdoor seating as well. THe overall atmosphere is noisy. They do not have food, but there was a food truck there when I visited. No flights which is disappointing, although they do have 10oz pours.“

“Small brewery, large in hospitality. With some very good beer too I might add. Atmosphere was friendly and inviting. Restrooms were clean and well lit. We got to take a tour of the brewery, talk to the brew master, and even spent some time talking with a really nice guy who turned out to be the CFO!! Cool place to come enjoy a beer. Where in the world is Max Silver? A one time employee devoted to finding Heady Topper, super beer aficionado, and all around cool dude. If you have the answer to this question please contact me.“

“This place is a Mecca for beer lovers, not the Budweiser, Miller, Coors type, but really good beer. From memory, I would say that half of their selection is dedicated to the domestic craft market with lots of NC locals. The other half is top quality imports with an emphasis on Belgians. The beer buyers, Kristion and Josh, are knowledgeable and helpful and know their stuff. Great all around place and nice selection of local seafood, meats & cheeses, chocolates and other grocery items.“

“Visited in February, 2017. Pig Pounder Brewery has some contacts with this place because Pig Pounder flights were available here. Also some casual beers from other breweries available. Main point of this place is food which was excellents. Amazing ribs.“

“Bestway is a full service grocery store and bottle shop with a growler station. Their selection is incredible, and their staff is very knowledgeable. Their tapped selections in the growler station are constantly changing and always of the best quality. Not only is their American craft section formidable, but their import selection is a sight to behold. So many delicious beers from every corner of the world in a comfortable and friendly environment.“

“This place fills up fast. Lots of people trying to look cool drinking beer they know nothing about. Lots of families and a kids birthday party last time I was here? Uh, NO! I dont come to a bar to dodge kids running around. Service is so-so. Up and down. No water at the bar?? Another X. No flights. Beer is OK, nothing special. Definitely not a destination for me.“

“Staff at the Civil Rights Museum recommended this place. Smallish place with a bar that runs the length of it and a bar table that almost does so. Comfortably crowded on a Thursday night for a Wicked Weed takeover. Helpful efficient staff despite the throng. Young crowd but mellow. I seem to remember a patio or deck. Long night. Anyway, worth a look.“

“Big place. Pool tables on both sides, one ping pong table in back on the right, plus darts, jenga, etc. Deck out front. Large taplist with plenty of interesting things and some macro crap. Good service. Wings looked good, but I had already eaten. decent stop if you’re nearby.“

“Funky place right by the railroad tracks downtown. Food truck. Bar on the left and lots of restaurant tables. Staff (Ross & Tyler) were awesome, and I recognized them from Hoots the day before. Flights of six for I think seven bucks, all were tasty and creative. Great place.“

“Small place directly across from Bestway on one side and Sticks and Stones on the other. Each place has its own parking lot, but street parking is pretty easy too. Small patio as well. Interesting beer list. Didn’t try the food since I ate at Sticks, but it looked pretty tasty. Could do three or four places here very easily.“

“This was the first brewery I visited on my Greensboro tour. It’s named after a beer that used to be brewed for Darryl’s Wood Fired Grill. Inside reminds me of a modern diner, and there’s a really nice wrap around deck as well. Nine of their beers and four guests, all from NC, flights of four available. Beers were pretty solid. Brewery visible on one of the flat screen monitors. No food, not even bacon. Worth the short trip from downtown.“

Bestway (Beer Store)

“This used to be the best place to buy beer. Too bat they went completely downhill. They do not care about your business. They do not care about you. All they want to do is quote a "store policy" The "manager" told me on the phone that they have the right to refuse to sell beer to anybody. I have the right to refuse to buy it. I will never buy another thing from this store. No apologies for a problem. No offers to help take care of it. You lost a customer and a lot of business today. The worst customer service imaginable.“

“I really like this place. It has a nice patio, it’s pet friendly, free wi-fi, and the service I got was excellent. With that being said, there was only 5 beers on tap and the place was lacking entertainment. I’ll go back and try it again in a couple of days.“

“Located across the street from Bestway in a cool little block. Pizza’s pretty solid by southern standards but the tap list is fantastic and the vibe is relaxed and friendly. There’s something in the air in this state as they seem to be able to do the neighborhood bar better than anywhere else in the region. I’d definitely go back if I was in the area.“

“From a certain perspective. despite the dramatic differences in look. if you’ve been to mellow mushroom you’ve been to them al. The pizza’s overdone with parmesan cheese and butter. There tend to be a lot of taps but not necessarily of good stuff. Often you get draft beer in frozen glasses. This one at least had a nice downtown location.“

“Great place to try new beers from around the state and all over. More local NC breweries on tap than any other local spot and the staff is knowledgable about the selection. You can also sip and shop for your selection. Have a cup, shop around and talk about beer. Good times.“

“Modern rustic look inside that’s spacious with plenty of board games around. About 5-6 drafts available. Service was a bit slow and cold. I was left hanging for quite a while because the bartender was never looking at my side of the bar and kept serving whoever walked into his eyesight. Beers were mediocre to solid. I’d give it another shot.“

“Over all an OK place to visit. The building is interesting enough but definitely has a college bar vibe to it. The service was so-so. It took a while to get our beer. Not good for a brewery. The food was average at best, and a little pricey for what it was. The restrooms were not very clean and smelled bad. Not some place I would seek out again.“

“Sorry....My opinion is that chains should not exist. If you want a more authentic place to go and dont want to encourage the existence of a nasty chain, try Hops Burger Bar. And no, I don’t work there....just love it and it deserves a higher ranking than Darryls hands down.“

Green Valley Grill (Restaurant)
622 GREEN VALLEY RD
“Nice upscale place to hang out, but crowd is generally older. The food is ok. Really, should be fantastic but their burger and fries are just adequate, Disagree with the review from ’Hussey’.... the burger is not the best in Gboro, Hops has that category covered. The fries are always burnt. Not great pub fare at all. The rest of the food is big on swank, not on being just solid, decent food. I drink the ’Origin’s martini when I’m there, which I enjoy, but I just dont drink beer there as it does not seem like a beersy kind of place. A little high class which you have to be in the mood for.“

“One of my fallback favs, M’Couls has great atmosphere, very cozy, but the seats are a bit uncomfortable....I think I’d stay and drink longer if the seats were more bum-friendly. Decent selection of brews. I do like some of the food. Boxtie, bangers and mash, Irish spring rolls...pretty good, but not awesome. Still, I love the atmosphere and the location in downtown Gsboro. As far as crowd, it is older people and familes early in the evening, with the crowd getting younger as the evening goes on. However, it isn’t really slam packed all the time like Hops, which it could be. I think it falls down when it comes to food and service. This place has so much potential...I still love it. My second choice in Gsbo.“

Hops Burger Bar (Restaurant)
2419 SPRING GARDEN ST
“Cozy and upbeat bar, this place has gone through several transformations before it became Hops, but I don’t see it failing as they have a winning combination of the some of the best burgers in town, the best damn fries ever (Truffle oil and parmesan....don’t miss it!) and good local and seasonal beers. At least 10 or so on draft. Often packed and parking is limited, but well worth it. It has a very nice neighborhood feel. Makes me wish I still lived within walking distance!“

“A new brewery that has just opened. I have to say that the owners went to a lot of expense to make this place nice. It’s In the back of an old building on a side street in the bad side of town. You can probably buy crack less than a block in any direction or get stabbed. However if you take your chances the inside is quite nice. The beer is solid though there is not a huge selection. The place has improved from its opening days already and my last trip was nice and enjoyable. Keep the kids at home and all is well.“
