“The biggest secret in Columbus craft beer in my mind. Best prices in town on growlers and pints. Cheap flights of anything on tap. Most importantly - because they get so much traffic, they rotate quickly. Visits a few days apart tend to bring several new taps. The staff that do the ordering are beer geeks and it’s typically a heavy sampling of latest locals with a few hard to find other crafts. So, not the most, but... I get more ticks here because of how fast it rotates.

Beyond all that - it’s a grocery store with a giant bar - so atmosphere is all relative. I’ve found myself in more interesting (sometimes odd) conversations here than at most other bars - which I find funny.

Other stuff: They have a pretty decent pub menu. There’s a typical grocery store selection of bottles to-go. The expensive/rare bottles are behind the counter in the wine section checkout.

In summary: this place is why I keep volunteering to pick up groceries on the way home from work. Unfortunately, the missus caught on and now she wants to do the drinking... er, grocery shopping.“

“(Visited 01/2015): The relatively new Giant Eagle Market District in Grandview is located in the rapidly development Grandview Yard area on 3rd Avenue off Olentangy. The store has a large parking lot.

There are multiple entrances to the store, and the one on the far left accesses the liquor store and bar. The beer store includes both shelves and a cooler. The bar is raised a couple steps and consists of bar seating and a couple tables, plus a couple more comfortable chairs down at the end.

The beer selection in the store amounts to nearly a couple hundred brands, with many Ohio breweries represented including Thirsty Dog, Great Lakes, Elevator, Columbus Brewing and Hoppin’ Frog. Many other domestic and imported craft breweries as well. In the bar there are around 18 taps with breweries like Jackie O’s, Seventh Son, Bells and Clown Shoes represented. These beers can be purchased for on site consumption in pints or taken home via growler.

Service at the bar and during checkout was good. Like many stores that have adopted this model, the people are friendly and treat the customers well.

I did not have any food on my visit, but aside from the grocer there are many styles of food that can be bought to eat in store and/or at the bar.

Overall this place does a pretty good job in making you forget you are drinking in a grocery store, providing solid selections and a comfortable space to enjoy them, and then provides plenty of options to take home too. I would definitely stop in again.“

“What a nice surprise! I went expecting the usual nat’l brand array, and it is there, as well as 15-20 bottles of the usual world selections. The surprise was their inclusion of three local brewers (I presume these were on tap): Columbus Brewing, Four String, and Elevator Brewing. It was trivia night, so the place was crowded (on a Thursday), and full of energy. Buffalo Wild Wings may be a boring regional chain, but this location knows how to do it well.“

“Good pizza and salads...not much else on the food list. Draught list included a couple from North Coast, Oskar Blues, Bells, Rogue, and a couple others...nothing local or in the state of Ohio. Enjoyable place where you can take the kids and enjoy a descent beer.“

“Food is good. The draft beer list is short but thought out.“

“(Visited 02/2009 and again since): Attended the "soft opening" for Dewey’s, their newest location in Grandview. It is on 5th Ave not too far from Northwest Blvd. They have a side/rear private lot. The interior is well lit with brick and wood. The small bar is right past the host stand with table and booth seating occupying the rest of the building. Flat screen TVs are stationed around the whole place, and there is a lot of glass on 2 sides allowing an outside view. Dewey’s has 8 taps but they use them pretty effectively. Brewers like Bell’s, Columbus Brewing, Brooklyn, Rogue and DFH are represented. The bottle selection is pretty small though and is pretty much all macros. Service was very good, most likely because it was a training event and there was about 1 server per customer. However they had the beer spiel down pat. My first experience with Dewey’s pizza was positive. I tried a couple different types but the nod goes to the Green Lantern which features artichokes and goat cheese. Overall I would recommend checking this place out due to the good pizza and small but well thought-out tap selection.“
