“Conveniently located across the street from Dayton International Airport, this watering hole offers fresh beers, artisan pizzas, and a few other assorted food items...as well as their Meads under the Blackbird label. The service is welcoming and inclusive. The beer is good but there were no particular stand outs. I enjoyed the Smoked Salmon pizza for a pre-flight lunch.“

“Nice patio here suing the summer. Sitting inside a strip mall near the Dayton, Ohio airport. Inside they have like 15 choices of beer and they co exist with Blackbird Mead Company. One bartender and some waitresses for the patio. Dimmed light inside and they have plenty of souvenirs for sell. Nice stop on my out of town weekend. Cheers!“

“Located in an unassuming strip mall, this was a very pleasant surprise. The guy working, presumably the owner was super friendly. Apparently, I'm his "bro", as we all were. Ended up getting a free airshow across the street. Great plane watching. The pizza was fantastic, especially the Smoked Salmon. Beer was good but we actually came for the mead as this is also the "Blackbird Meadery". I don't like the 4% fee for credit card transactions but at least they are open about it. Overall, really enjoyed my visit. Will definitely return when in Dayton.“

“Stopped in on a Friday night while in the Dayton area for a seminar. Located in an older strip mall near the Dayton airport. Very friendly owners and, especially, customers--several of them beckoned me to join them at the bar rather than sit by myself at a table. Beers were good to very good overall--a couple could use a little recipe tweaking but none of them were bad. Food menu limited to pizza, appetizers and snacks but very good considering--my cheese pizza had the best tomato sauce I’ve had in quite some time. Very enjoyable visit and I look forward to stopping in again.“

“Nice tap room with eight house beers and some appetizers and pizza for food. Good beers for the style. Great big jenga and live entertainment if you are there on the right night. Great stop on the way to the airport if the schedule allows.“

“An unexpected stop on the way out of Dayton, thanks to D for taking me out here on the way to the airport prior to my flight. Stuck in a strip mall across from the airport, it looks like a honky-tonk on the outside, but the inside was a large open space, lots of tables, a good sized attractive bar, and a four foot high jenga game smack in the middle of the floor. Almost like a built in sobriety check! 8 beers on tap and one shandy, wide variety of styles. Some of the recipes need a bit of tightening up, but some beers were quite promising. Really liked the Shady River Wheat. For food, just snacked on a cheese and sausage plate and some hummus, but both were solid. Would definitely visit again if I get back out to the Dayton area. Service was good.“

“This is a typical sports bar with typical sports bar food and atmosphere. It’s usually crowded with loud people screaming at the televisions. Really? They do have the best craft on draft in the Vandalia area. Parking is the worst here.“

“(Visited 02/2012): Bunker’s is located in Vandalia on E. National Rd (Rte 40) right off I-75. They have a good-sized private lot.

The inside is the epitome of a sports bar off a freeway exit. Loud with lots of TVs and cheap looking tables, and a bar toward the rear. One point of interest is a flat screen promoting their beers.

Speaking of beers, Bunker’s has around 25 taps with just a few craft breweries represented, such as Flying Dog (Kujo), Bells, Green Flash, Stone, 21st Amendment and Great Lakes. Mostly domestic macros in bottles.

Service was pretty standard on a busy weekend lunch. There were large groups there which didn’t help, but our server wasn’t overly attentive although was pretty friendly.

The food at Bunker’s is typical bar food such as sandwiches and finger foods, and it is sort of lackluster.

Overall this place is not really worth seeking out but may do in a pinch as a stop while passing through on the highway.“
