“A nice little brewpub at the foot of the Reina Victoria funicular not far from Bellavista metro. Flying the flag for local beer in Valpo. 6-8 beers on tap. Bottled beer selection only 3. Surprisingly good raw food (ceviche and beef tartare).“

“A good bar in vlaparaiso. The people here don’t no a lot about beer it depends the guy serving you. It lacks of chilean beer (don’t have the rothhammer and the best valdivian micros...). The selection it’s huge with mikkeler, to ol, ballast point, etc.. Unfortunately, the beers are not always fresh which it’s not a surprise because of the huge selection. It’s quite expensive to...“

“I stumbled across this place while wandering this rabbit warren (in a good way) of a city. It’s next to the bottom of the Ascensir Reina Victoria (one of the funiculars). Nice selection of this breweries two marques (Altamira and Mestiza). Only one was on tap the day I was there, but there was a full bottle selection. Good food too. Well worth a visit.“

“For Chile, or S. America in general, this place is pretty damn good. They had a bunch of Rogues, Pannepot, Rochefort 10, 8, St Bernardus 12,8,6, variety of other Belgians, Szot. Most everything was bottles. Our beers came in proper brewery logo glassware which is rare. Downsides: Expensive, but that’s probably mostly unavoidable (Rogue prices + importing + markup = no thanks), 12oz bottles of Rochefort or St Bern will run around 8-10 dollars. The owner was also not particularly nice. I asked if they had any Lambics, he didn’t know what I was talking about, I explained, he curtly directed me back to the menu saying that was all there was and went back to his online poker game. The next time I was in he also a bit forward insinuating I should tip him (give him the tip that is, instead of giving it to the bartender who served us). The bartender was friendly, not beer knowledgeable, but friendly. In any case, a beer oasis in the beer desert of S. America.“

“I’ve been in several Chilean beer pubs, but for me this is the best. Irish atmosphere, with an Irish owner, who’s a beer lover and with whom you could have a nice conversation about beer. Why is it my prefered pub?... because you can find several beer styles and brewers of a really high standard, something difficult to find in Chile. I’d already been surprised, on other occasions, when I saw available the Pannepot and the Avec les Bons Voeux (I almost cried with emotion), but on my last visit I was even more surprised when I saw available Rogue’s beer, including some jewels like Old Crustacean and Imperial IPA. I’ve found hoppy beer in this pub and those are rare privileges in Chile. Also, always has a good variety of Chilean microbreweries. Reasonable prices.“

“I’m kind of biased, as this is my bar, but am rating it to show what I feel our strengths are.“

“It is a very agreeable place. I have had the opportunity to visit the place several times, and always I meet some new beer. It is the place adapted to try the beers of microbreweries of Chile, and some another foreigner beer. “

“(Update: August 16, 2006) I was there with nigredo last weekend and we had a great time there. We spoke a little with the Irish owner and he was very nice talking about beers. The Ambiance is beautiful with a typical "old-style british port" decoration and comfortable sitting. The service was friendly also and the waitress was nice. They have still a HUGE selection of beers at reasonable prices. There are mostly british and belgian beers. They have some from other countries and most of the chilean micros. I would like it more if they import some german bocks and doppelbocks which are unfortunately very difficult to find in Chile. Anyway, this is a great place and a MUST for every beer lover in Valparaiso.“
