“NEW: Big thanks to Linus Stick for alerting me to the improvements of this place. This place has really turned into a beer tasting cool place. Had a sampler there of 4 any beers for $8. They were about 4-5 oz each. I had at least 5 beers there that I haven’t had even after 5000. I especially liked the North Country Sour, really great! OLD: OK, I’ve been to this place more than a few times on my Harley before it was listed on this site. Its a decent bar and I used to go there because they had good stouts on tap for a decent price. Other than that, this is just another beer bar wanting to get in on the action of the micro brew fad. As Linus says, nice bottle list but they are out of many when you ask. Crowded at times.“

“Yes, finally a place to replace the beer store which moved to ambridge but never became a beer store again. Nice singles selection for 13$ and quite a selection of bombers for a decent price. Also, nice selection of craft and import sixers.“

“So happy this store started carrying beer. Great selection and very organized. Six packs of craft beer in the middle, one wall of good bombers/Belgian beers and 2 walls of coolers with good craft beer six packs, singles and macro stuff.“

“On the surface seems like a big place with a good selection. Slightly untidy, sometimes smells like people smoke in there. Employees always appear unhappy. Although the micro and import section has a large variety, they have many one-off cases that have been sitting on the shelf for a very long time, at least over a year. Buyer beware. Anything they have more than one of is probably reasonably fresh, and luckily many brewers now stamp their cases with a date. I don’t shop here a lot, only if I need to get a case for a party and have no time to go elsewhere, and every time I am mad at myself for that. On the other hand, a local paper awarded them with a "gold medal" via a recent reader poll.“

“Ambiance? no, but they gladly order Daura by Estrella Damm for me, which is Gluten Free. Note that they had to remove the GF labeling in 08/11 due to a competitor filing a claim that it was a "health claim", which isn’t allowed on alcoholic beverages, but they’re fighting that. Very bogus. But it’s still at less than 6 ppm, which is far below the FDA requirement of 20 ppm to make that claim. This store gets high marks for taking care of it’s customers.“

“Hidden Gem. Shawn, the owner, has been transforming this bar into the best valued craft beer destination west of Pittsburgh. There are 3 parts to this place. 1. The bar 2. The Dining Area (can access through the bar or its own separate outside entrance). 3. The 6 Pack Shop (access through the outside dining area entrance). The beer on draft rotates often so I keep track via their twitter feed or online. The place mat serves as their bottle beer menu, it’s updated seasonally so there is transition as the beers come and go but the coolers are always stocked. I tend to ’get nose-y’ when deciding and choose from the cooler and not the menu. (See Brickskeller notes). Always good craft to be found and the price’s are typically golden on their selections. Tack on craft beer Thursdays...let’s just say I’ve taken pictures of my receipts for the tweeps to see how crazy low some of the prices are! I’m a day drinker and Patrick’s has their regulars and their busier times. Make sure to get the dinner specials and Fresh Fish Friday’s, the chef has been concocting some delish meals and even cooking with the drafts. Service is spotty and staff craft beer knowledge is left wanting but Shawn seems to be there all the time and can right any wrong or lead me in the right direction with my craft selection. It’s my neighborhood craft beer destination because of it’s value, fresh ’rotated properly’ craft selections, and relaxed atmosphere.“

“I stopped in here after golf twice this past summer, and just as LinusStick and cheapdark said "they are out of many beers when you ask". They do have a decent selection of micros and average import list. However, they don’t give any discount when you want to buy a 6 or 12 pack on micros. So, what’s the point? Most bars offer some discount when buying 6 and 12 packs…especially on micros. The food is average, nothing unique, serving mostly Irish dishes (one of my favs), but again, average. Not a bad place at all, the a/c is usually not cool enough. I was sweating while eating. If I’m around that area I would stop again, but I wouldn’t drive 15 minutes out of my way to get there. There is plenty of parking in front of the building.“

“Recently I stopped in for the first time. I was pleasantly surprised with the selection. Service wasn’t much help; at least he was able to tell me the prices. Otherwise, it is just a typical run of the mill distributors in Pittsburgh that doesn’t make any attempt of trying to attract new customers. I think I found my new home beer distributor.“

“I’ve lived 15 minutes from this place and never knew it was there. Nice small bar with a big pool room in the back. Seating is very limited if you want to eat. Food is on the lower end for bar food. Atmosphere is very friendly. Seems everyone in there knows everyone (including the employees) so you can tell they have a loyal customer base. The beer list LOOKS good, but as I was ordering beer I kept being told they don’t have it (even though it’s on the bottle list). They said the bottles are constantly rotating and are not always available. Service was average. Had to flag down the waiter any time I needed anything. Wouldn’t go back, but would definitely recommend to someone else.“

“I was just in recently ƙ-20-09) and found the import/craft beer selection has expanded. It was refreshing to see that they have recognized this trend and the entire back wall is filled with just what I am looking for, well, when I ready to buy a case of something. Buying in bulk always gets you the price breaks however it comes with the limited variety price tag...“

“***RE-RATE*** Wow this place has changed in 4 years! Tons of craft beer cases...some of which I hadn’t seen anywhere in the area (Orval, St Bernardus to name a few). Huge warehouse with a great selection. Nice!“

“Typical beer by the case store. Has a special section with many, many kinds of micros and imports. Good place to go if you know exactly what you want and want a case of it. Good prices.“
