“Cool building. Great service. Food is good. Beers are ....um...wet. Lots of style ticks!“

“Lovely building with the interior retaining an old feel of yesteryear. This is a handy spot to fill up on some grub and scoop the beers. As for the beer, best not to have high expectations. Service was on the slower side for us throughout our stay, but the folks were lovely and hospitable.“

“The best thing about this place was the building itself. Really need turn of the century architecture and a carved wooden bar. Brewkit visible through glass. Lots of old beer posters. Street parking or a lot around the corner. Service was very friendly but very slow. Food was piping hot a very filling, tasty enough. Beers were a bit weak but not overtly flawed. An OK stop if you’re passing through.“

“Neat ambiance. Looks a bit tired. Service was good, beer mediocre at best. Flights are pretty cheap and a good way to try 6 of their brews.“

“A quaint, old brewery/pub located in urban PA, complete with a rather old bar back. The waitress was friendly enough and just "getting into beer" since she started working there. The beers were solid, though nothing was particularly stand-out. Worth a stop if you are in the area.“

“Large brewpub with a long bar and tall glass panes showing off the brewing area. Place was dimly lit with a lot of quirky decorations both embracing and making fun of the rural/amish surrounding areas. House beers were decent; about half were decent style representations, but the others seemed to be just a little off. Only came for beer, so I didn’t check out the food menu. Nice bartender who was new to craft beer and was excited to share in the experience with patrons.“

“Looks like a restored hardware store. Unbelievably high ceilings and lots of exposed brick. The walls are covered with local breweriana. They have 11 different things on tap. They lean heavily towards lagers. The food was fairly solid as were the beers. I can’t say I had anything that was particularly outstanding.,If I had one complaint it was the size of the sample glasses. 2.5 oz. seems a bit small to do a proper evaluation. It was a bit like drinking beer out of a test tube. The service was efficient but not particularly warm. (slow down, dude!) On the whole it was an interesting experience.“

“came here for a sampler. Neat old building with lots of old PA related beer stuff on the walls. Staff served my sampler and was not seen again until we shouted for him to pay our tab. The beers were all pretty bad and I got the impression the tap lines were dirty. Will probably never go back.“

“Just a mile or so down the road from all the antique warehouses in Adamstown. Attractive older building on Reamstowns main street. Owner must have grown up on Reading beer, because the memorabilia dominated the large, open interior. Above average service, quick, friendly and attentive. Decent menu that included an elk meatloaf sandwich that was very tasty. Good beers, including an IPA that was cask conditioned, Seem to remember about 8 altogether, including the dopplebock, lager and hefe (among others). The kind of place I would visit regularly if I lived a little closer.“

“Nice place, quite local to me. Been there thrice now, very good food, nice that they have samplers. Consistently very good service, even with a party of 10 on our last trip.“

“Nice set up in an unassuming building. Pretty cool building inside. Stopped in after hitting the Green Dragon with my wife and daughter (early Friday evening). Place was pretty much empty. Our waiter was attentive, but could not speak of the beers at all. Ordered the sampler - as most people have comments, the 2oz sample sizes are too small really. The beer were average - drinkable, but nothing to get excited about. I had the Elk meatloaf - it was pretty tasty. Wife did not like the french onion soup nor the shrimp cocktail.“

“Cool old building. Lots to look at. Service was great, because I was the only person in the place. Strong selection of about 10 of their own beers. Seemed on the cheap side. Too bad all the beer was bad. I am unlikely to return.“

“Went here with TheCaptain. Place was very clean and nearly empty when we got there. The waitress was friendly and attentive but didn’t really know anything about the beer. Had the sampler and the beers ranged from pretty good (Pale Ale) to pretty bad (Double Barrel). Prices were good and the food was very tasty. I would be willing to go there again.“

“This place is kind of out in the middle of nowhere. I sat at the bar. The service was very attentive, friendly and helpful. The selection was okay. They had six beers on tap: Kolsch, Hefeweizen, Pale Ale, Maibock, Doppelbock, Stout. Their beers are solid, but nothing to get excited about. All of their beers are very drinkable. My favorite was the Doppelbock. The Pale Ale is a very nice session beer. I agree with what some others have said, regarding the sampler size. Two ounces per sample is just too small. The food was decent. The smoked trout chowder was very tastey. For diner I had their chipotle scallop salad, which was okay. Overall, this is a decent place worth a stop.“

“Nice little new Micro Brewery-Restaurant in Stevens, which is about all they have in Stevens. The beer obviously is there own, I believe one owner used to work for Stoudts in Adams Town down the road and left to start this. Most of the the micros were good, German influence with some specials. Food was well prepared with the bartender really catering to us. Nice atmosphere. I would say beer is there just up the food and more open hours.“

“The stout was good...but that is about it. No I lie I enjoyed the Trout Chowder. My entrée was really bad! It was suppose to be a southwest chicken entrée but instead was grilled chicken (a small piece) with pasta, nasty BBQ sauce, corn and black beans. My wife got the Salmon and wasnt impressed, Dad got the steak and liked it but he like his steak like shoe leather. The beers were all mediocre with the stout being a step above. My mom got a glass of Merlot that smelled and even tasted like vinegar. She let our server know and she came back and was like yeah the bar tender agrees that wine went bad. But come on...I could smell it as soon as it came to our table. They even forgot to take the wine off the bill. The menu seemed to have some good sweets but I passed because I didnt feel like giving this place anymore of my money. The look and decor was nice. A little sterile and not really worn in yet but has potential in terms of a facilty. Just needs to get the food and beer up to par.“

“Stopped by for dinner on a Saturday night (7pm). Crowded, but no wait. I was impressed with the inside and the way they did up the inside. I was expecting a neighborood bar (especially due to the location) and was pleasantly surprised with look and the menu (expect pub grub food). Food came out a little slow (or maybe I was just starving). Sampler was only 2oz pours which is a big minus (samplers should be at least 4oz each). Had the sampler and ordered a few that I thought needed more attention.“

“This is my first place rating in quite some time, but I finally feel a bit more comfortable rating them. This was our first stop on our trip up to Cooperstown from the DC area. 12-week-old brewpub, with a long mahogany bar and casual, self-seating sections. Silvery fermenters at the entrance and past the bar. Attentive, friendly bartender; quick to bring out our orders and perfectly cool with people hanging out at the bar and discussing / rating their beers. Very friendly people. I visited with mj and lilannie, so same selection as Mike listed below. I thought the Kolsch was excellent, and everything was at least solid. Excellent Portobello sandwich and fries (has a few good vegetarian options). Definitely worth a stop.“

“Recently opened. Bit of a small town feel surrounding this place. Looks like it was built in an old hotel building, the ceilings are nicely patterned and are about 20 feet off the floor. Beer selection was solid: Maibock, Doppelbock, Kolsch, Hefeweizen, Stout, Pale Ale, Lager on tap. I got the prime rib sandwich which was quite good. They have a bar menu and a dining menu, FYI. Loved the food, loved the German-leaning styles of beer, and overall they were made well. A few were a little weak on the palate, but the Maibock especially was great.“

“I had a shrimp dish for an entre that was fantastic, my wife enjoyed her meal, too. The service was very good. Considering what the building was before it became the UBL, it’s amazing. Will be back [already have een infact, just to the bar.]“

“This place is very nice, with a bar in the back and a more elegant dining area at the front. The 7 beers on tap ranged from average to very good, and the food selection was fantastic, and tasted delicious. The doppelbock, dry stout, and kolsch were highlights for me, but I found all the brews to be interesting. I’ll be returning here a lot, even with the 35 mile drive.“

“a very nice place, service was a bit fubar, witnessed several complaints on messups, and even had my order messed up in two different ways, other then that the food was okay and the beers were pretty good.“

“Very easy to get to, just a couple left turns off PA Route 272, you can make a mini-pub crawl by hitting up Stoudt’s just a few miles away, nice bar atmosphere, good bar service, bartender was very talkative and attentive enough to get what I wanted when I wanted it, still very new so the place was spotless, they don’t allow any smoking inside, so it smelled great, almost that "new car" smell, hardwood floors, exposed pipes, didn’t try the food, I was just there to sample the beer, they don’t have much of a website yet, they had a nice view of the fermenting tanks, had a lot of throw-back beer signage on the walls, very good beers as well, of course that’s important when you go to a brewpub, the stout was by far the best with the maibock probably coming in second, I’d like to go back and see if the food is any good, has the potential to be a really good brewpub “
