“Is this mainly a beer bar? or is it a brewpub or a bar attached to a hotel or your local TAB? It is difficult to figure out when you read about the place. It would be nice to define what you are. The beer bar / brewpub works great. With 28 taps and a lot of then either their own or local beers, there was plenty for me to keep me happy. Flights available. Beyond the brewery in a corner it doesn't really feel like a beer place, more like your local TAB. Service varied depend on your server.“

“Came by during the Art Deco Festival weekend and man was this place packed. Felt a little out of place as everyone was dressed to the nines. There’s the regular swill on tap along with a solid craft beer focus and a good chance to find something new available. Included in the mix is a dedicated rotating line for new Napier brewery Iron Pot for the scoop. Extensive food menu that comes at a price along the quay. Staff were a little overwhelmed with the rush for drinks at the bar but handled it well and things soon calmed down. The venue is large and spacious with an abundance of sunny rays beaming through and actually a nice spot to sip a beer but a quieter afternoon would suit just fine.“

“A hotel pub that houses a small brewing system alongside the bar area. Two house beers pouring on tap - Pandora Pils & Glasshopper IPA. Both pretty solid. The remainder of taps are allocated to guests (mostly NZ), notably fellow Hawkes Bay breweries such as Zeelandt & Fat Monk. A very tidy selection all round. Food is typical pub grub. Efficient staff handling the post work crowd. Many regulars drinking that were a friendly bunch. A reliable spot to try a few of the local HB beers.“
