“Well-lit and organized shop with the beer near the front entrance. Pretty solid selection of Belgian, local, national and international stuff that has distro here. Prices are pretty fair and in some cases cheaper than other places around town. Staff was friendly and eager to chat. They also have do growler fills with probably 15-20 taps dedicated to growlers. The only downside is that you can't pull singles. Everything is priced as. Probably won't be back unless I'm looking for a bomber or Blackberry farm release. Would be nice if they allowed purchases of singles.“

“This place is in the end of a strip mall with adequate free dedicated parking. Medium size open wine shop. Service was average. Selection was pretty limited. Beer is in the back center. I would not go out of my way to visit this place.“

Moon Wine & Spirits (Beer Store)
6910 MOORES LANE
“(Visited 02/2013): Moon Wine & Spirits is located on Moores Lane in a shopping plaza between Franklin and Brentwood. There is a parking lot in front of the building.

The store is open and well-lit with the beer located on shelves and in coolers in the rear.

The beer selection here is decent. Some regional craft breweries like Terrapin, Lazy Magnolia and Yazoo. Some singles as well as imports.

Service was friendly and helpful despite me running in 3 minutes before they closed.

Overall this is a decent store to grab something worthwhile.“

“Not a very good selection and not a very helpful staff. My last couple visits have left a bad taste in my mouth... the staff have a tendency to treat customers as idiots and as if they are know-it-alls. Probably wont be shopping here often if ever.“

“An okay store that has an okay selection. They offer singles and the staff are generally pretty friendly. Their selection just isn’t very extensive.“

“A new store that is not quite in Cool Springs so you don’t have to deal with all that Bullshit which is nice. Very nice looking layout, beer selection is good. This is not a store that carries everything it can get it hands on but rather focuses on higher quality beer. Some bottles are available cold and all are sold in singles which is a HUGE plus for me.“

“I was there on the opening day, so my score will most likely raise as it falls into it’s own. Big place with a large area for beer- both refrigerated and room temp. Area is a little smaller then midtown. Sells high abv’s by the bottle= great; not many places will do that. Beer and wine is run by MmmmcKay, so you know you have a good, well-educated person on premises. The place is organized and uncluttered, too, so you don’t have to worry about knocking something over. Easy to get to location- corner of Franklin and Moore’s Lane.“

“There beer selection is refridgerated, for tghe most part, and tucked away into the corner. All higher ABVs, I was glad to see the SA longshot mix pack. I ended up buying the Gouden Carolus Cuvee Van De Keizer Blauw/Blue ($10.99) and the Seeyoulater Doppelbock ($9.99). Prices were good, but selection was small.“

“Don’t go out of your way to get here. If you are shopping for some amazing food and want to pick up a single or two, then be my guest. there selection is pretty small, mostly local beers from within a 1000 mile distance or so, of course all low ABV. they are heavy on the Magic Hat, which is not really a good sign. It also seems like every department in the store is manned except this one. I guess it’s not much of a money maker.“

“Small area for the beers, but like the Brianito said, there are many beers in that are only because there are only 2-3 bottles of each, which doesn’t say much for freshness. the beers were very random, as if they picked them out of a catalog by tearing out pages and had a chicken walk around and poop on what they wanted to order. Worst part of it is that they had Beer Advocate Shelf Tags. But I can’t complain too much since I did buy 3 beers here. You will find one or two you’re interested in purchasing.“

“Not a terrible place to get beer, but not great either. They do have a mix 6 which you can pick and choose your own 6 pack. The selection is pretty standard but has enough interesting things for me to occasionally shop here. The pre made mix packs are pretty bad and should be ignored. The grocery aspect of the store is pretty high quality. The produce and meats are awesome but be prepared to pay for it.“

“The beer area is near the front of the store (and a cooler door in the back) and is your average wide bookshelf sized space you see in most of the liquor stores around here. The thing that was odd was that for the most part there were only 1 or 2 of each beer. Sometimes you’d find 3 of something, but it just felt like they stocked beer because they had to. The selection wasn’t bad, but based on other stores in the Nashville area it is average at best. There was also an incident that left me puzzled. After perusing their selection, I approached the counter where I explained that I was doing some reviews and asked if I could take a picture or two. A manager (?) came out and asked me "What site is this for?" I told him that I was doing reviews for a major beer website and my own Tennessee-area beer site. He replied, "I think we’d rather not." While not unfriendly, it came off somewhat dismissive. I politely thanked him and proceeded to shop a bit before leaving. I understand that sometimes stores don’t wish to have pictures taken for security reasons or whatever, but if this was the case he would have said that up front instead of asking what website the review was for. I just got the impression that if I had said the review was for a wine website things would have been different. Not a big deal, but it left a sour taste. I can’t recommend going to Maryland Farms Wine & Spirits. The selection is average compared to other Nashville area "goto" places and I just didn’t get a good beer vibe. Please feel free to check it out for yourself, perhaps I was just there on an off day or they were about to restock. But there are much better options. “

“Typical TN Wine/Liquor store. Unlike most, their beers are divided between two places in the store one section of big bottles (3L’s, Bombers, 750’s) behind the registers, and another row of 6packs and small singles on the front wall. Not a huge selection, but they definitely had a few things I’ve yet to see anywhere else in the area, such as the Fort Collins Dopplebock. Also as typical for this type of store, the staff has no real idea about beer. A bit on the pricey side (as I think everything in brentwood is inflated), but I can think of a few liquor stores that are worse to shop at.“

“I was recommended this place by a friend, so I thought I’d check it out. The sign outside advertised ’gourmet beers’. When I first stepped foot inside, I was pleasantly surprised at the openess and cleanliness of the store. However, I soon realized that the nice layout of the store only pertained to the display of wines and liquors. The (small) arrangement of beers was cast off in a window behind the checkout counters. Granted, the windows were tinted, and I don’t believe they received direct sunlight, but still, a window?!? The staff was nice, but didn’t know anything about beer. The prices were slightly lower than other places, so they get extra points on value. They also had a few decent finds (still had a couple bottles of Stone Oatmeal Stout). Overall, not really worth a trip, but if you already shop in the area, it might be worth a peek.“

“This place is right beside Olde World Leaf and Ale. As per good ol’ TN laws, this place serves all the beers over 6.25%. Selection is not even half that of Red Dog, but still nothing to thumb your nose at. Lots of high alc imports here, more Ukranian, and Russian, than Belgian. Some selection of flying dog, and left hand. Service was friendly but didn’t really know anything about the beers. Prices weren’t horribly unreasonable. Definitely worth a peek in if you are already next door.“

“Not as nice as the other FreshMarket I’ve been to. Beer selection is smaller but it does have a Small decent, ’mix-your-own-6’ selection. Imports, and regional micros. Definitely doesn’t warrant a trip, but if you are in the area, it does have a better selection than kroger. Best quality food in the area though, especially the meats.“

“There is nothing here you can’t get right across the street at the major supermarket. The pre-mixed 10 packs are filled with Corona’s, Newcastle and Guinness draught in the bottle and are way overpriced. Go elsewhere.“

“The beer selection here is smaller than other Fresh Markets that I’ve been to but most likely because of TN 6 percent laws. Still they had an OK selection of locals, regional, and some nationals. Of course you can get your macros if you’re into that. Mostly sixers but some singles and they had pre-mixed 10 packs made up. I guess it would work to pick up something while getting groceries but if you are looking for beer, there are better places in the area.“
