NORRE KATTS PARK
“A small, well, rotunda in the middle of Norre Katts Park in Halmstad, surrounded by a sizable patio and what seems to be an open mic stage (literally had what seemed to be a buncha ladies on a bachelorette party singing, before someone else moved in). Open during summer (like late May-late August) and special occasions, it houses an excellent choice of beers in bottle and 3 taps, brewed for them (in one case, relabeled for a fest there). Bunch of local micros and hype/quality Swedish (and foreign) craft. The staff is cool, obviously VERY much into this, which one has to appreciate. It features a bunch of concerts and random events like Octoberfest outside of their regular open period. The main downsides are that it relies on good weather and doesn't work for most of the year. We focused on the local stuff - Halmstad, Breared, Wessinge, Wapnö, with varying levels of quality, but that was intentional, could've easily gone for some more fancy stuff. Not the most expensive place either from what I see. All in all, while it works, probably the best place in town for craft beer, and, seemingly, generally a very nice place, deserving of a high score!“

“As others have noted, large, classic pub in the middle of Halmstad, tons of taps, however, the same 10 or so beers repeat themselves. Carlsberg-driven selection, unsure if there was much else on them, and they were out of their house beer. The fridges hold a better selection again, including a couple of Breared beers, from a town some 10km of Halmstad. Their bitter was good. The fact that we were 6 who went for 2 beers with 4 glasses weirded out the staff a little, but after some explanation to several people, it became "va roligt" and so on. Dunno, okay, but overshadowed by other places in town.“

“Visited once, early July 2017. Nice selection of local and hard to find Swedish beers. Very serviceminded staff. Just off the highway, plenty of parking. Also busses stopping right by the shopping mall. Good find to stop by if driving by. Quite the selection of beers from Wapnö, Halmstad and Strandlida, among others.“

“Big SB with special release sortiment + 3 locals: Wapnö, Halmstad and Strandlida. Big open SB in the center of the hall. Easy parking just outside.“

“Place is like a cafeteria with a large bar. Tap selection is nice with some local brews. Their bottle selection is really nice too. Food was overpriced and not very good to be honest. I would grab a few beers here and eat somewhere else.“

“This was a nice surprise. 20+ taps and loads of bottle. Barman told me they have over 200 different beers and I think thats true. Some interesting swedish micros on tap, and also international beers, for example Ballast Point. Good food, I had a buger. Quite crowded on a thursday eveing, there was also a music- and move quiz going on Quite nice place.“

“About what you can expect from Harrys. Maybe ten taps with an average selection, Brooklyn and Leffe was on, plus a few macro lagers. Did not check that much on on bottles and did not eat. Not very crowded on an early evening in mid May.“

“Standrad Systembolaget. Not that much that differs when it comes to the Systembolaget stores in Sweden. Service is the same, ambiance is the same, selection varies abit, bot only at the really small ones and the big ones in Stockholm, Göteborg and Malmö.“

“Hotel bar in central Halmstad. Both logo and interior reminds you alot of Bishops Arms. Beer selection is average, not many many surprises. Quite nice patio though.“

“The fox and Anchor is a modern Gastropub that offers a wide range of beerstyles, you will be able to find most styles within the 200 or so different beers. They are served both on tap and bottle and there´s 6 taps out o0f 27 reserved for guest breweries. Many Swedish craft breweries are both on tap and bottle. The food is of high standard and is a step up in traditional pubfood, with burgers and fish and chips as a must on the menu. You will also find more then 400 singlemalts and over 700 different spirits in total. “

“British Pub with large screen TV’s for football/sports. Large bar with 24 taps, 6 reserved for craft beer. Equally good selection of bottled beer. Every beer type available. Very friendly and service minded staff. A place well worth a visit!“

“Hotel pub looking like a traditionoal British Pub. Ok selection of beers with quite a few bottles of craft beer and 1-2 on tap. Nearly all types of beer represented on tap. Service average, not always correct glassware and pouring.“

“Visited May 5, 2014.
When it comes to craft and crafty beers this really seems to be the place to go in Halmstad.
The sign, font, colors, layout, interior, bar setup, well pretty much everything just screams "The Bishops Arms" really.
Plenty of taps, plenty of bottles, one house lager (mellanöl) made by local brewery Krönleins.
Didn’t eat. Large selection of whisky for the one interested in such. Nice, fairly service minded staff. Rather expensicve place.
Toilets are downstairs and not handicapped friendly.“

“Visited on May 4, 2014.
I probably wouldn’t add Harrys in e.g. Göteborg, but Halmstad is a bit dry when it comes to wanting a crafty beer on a Sunday, well any day really.
Harrys has a standard selection for a bar that has a strict agreement with Carlsberg. The taps are not very exciting, mainly pale lagers from macro breweries, and a standard pear cider, Guinness and Kilkenny. The bottled selection is better, but it still takes a while to find something worth getting really. They do stock some Sam Adams, Brooklyn, Leffe, Erdinger, etc. I managed to get a Lagunitas IPA on bottle.
Harrys is however a nice, friendly, centrally located pub and restaurant with semi-decent beers. Also, unlike many other places in Halmstad, this is open year round and open on Sundays.
The one girl tending bar didn’t really know much about beer, the bloke did know more though and could also mention beers they had recently stocked, as well as explain the lack of e.g. Three Hearts even though we’re in Halmstad, and finally help me understand that Harrys Krögaröl is just a label beer from Grebbestads and not a special release.
I didn’t eat, though I did browse the menu and it looked pretty nice. Didn’t use the restrooms. Stayed for one bottle of beer, then headed out. Nice and service minded staff. Huge outdoors patio, likely only for spring and summer though. Fairly big indoors with a large bar with chairs, as well as plenty of tables around. Some soft music from the speakers playing, though I had my mp3 player on to listen to not so soft music myself. A couple of TV screens around, also at least one poker machine. No problem to pay for one beer with a credit card. Not very cheap at all.“

“In Sweden, if you want to buy alcholic beverages you must buy them at Systembolaget. (Less than 3,5% can be found in grocery stores)“
