“A new place in town and the second best place to enjoy craft beers. More like a cafe or stylished bar than a proper pub. Very crowded at my visit and their house beer was empty. I had a beer from ELØ as my night cap. Drinks, coctails and wine seemed to be more popular than beer this Thursday late in the evening. (Visited July 29th 2021)“

“Cosy and homely cellar pub, staff is outgoing and very friendly. Good selection of local and international beers. Despite football on bugscreen a saturday afternoon, the mood is chilled and relaxed.“

“Great little place centrally located in Voss (but then, so is everything in Voss). Superfriendly and knowledgeable service. 4 taps (local beers only, including a house beer), plus drinks and cocktails if you're so inclined.“

“This brewery was established following the bankruptcy in 2018, the old head brewer Rune Midtun was again brewer, Arne Hjeltnes contributed capital. It is located outside the center of Voss,, eastern part. They do tastings and tours for large groups, I was part of a large group,, we had all their 4,7% beer served in small measures,, and also some of the stronger ones. Brewer was entertaining us with fact and fiction from the industy,, he is a good storyteller for shure“

“Once upon a time supposed to be a brew pub. But it is not active at the moment. If they manage to start again….who knows. A decent sport pub. The beer selection at my visit was rather poor. So I would advise you to some better places in Voss a beer.Like Tre Brør Cafe & Bar“

“One of the best places for a beer in Voss actually. Located almost at the train station. 1 min walk. It is the hotel next to the station building. The interior is something you must see. Lovely old wooden interior. Classic style. Absolutely recommendable. Especially if you want a good beer.“

“What a location for a brewery. Far up in the hill side. Not a place you just pop into. If you want to visit this place you need a car. If you like some exercise…ok bicycle. But make sure you have time enough. Not very difficult to know when you are there. Their logo is painted BIG on one side of the house.
Nice selection of their own ales. If you call them first, it is off course possible to get a tour in the brewery. But they are often busy. If they have time, it is ok. Friendly and helpful staff. Absolutely a recommendable visit.

“The only place to get beer above 4.7% for quite a long distance. So this is the place to go. Not a really great selection, but you will at least find something you will like. I found a couple of ticks. Located at the entrance of a big shopping mall in the city centre“

“Ohh nooooo. Ok they had a good selection of Voss Fellesbryggeri. Nothing else interesting. Quite good looking place that they have tried to make like a train station waiting hall. If you miss some Voss F tick it would be ok. Otherwise go to Tre Brør Cafe & Bar on the (almost) other side of the street. 2 min walk from the train station“

“Also a quite rare and odd place. An old farm that now operate even as an restaurant. You get some traditional Norwegian dishes with their own beer made at this farm for ages. Lovely friendly staff. 10 minutes drive from Voss railroad station. No good idea to walk. The low score is due to the only beer that is interesting is their own. This is truly a nice place and highly recommendable!“

“Out in the wild, a scenic place for a brewery. I catched the brewer at a busy time of the day, but still had a good look of the kettles downstairs. Possible to buy merchandise, but sold out at my short visit.30.8.16 Will revisit later.“

“The best place in Voss for beer tourists. The cafe offers 6 beers on tap from Voss Bryggeri and Aass Pilsner (?) The downstairs bar opens in the evening and have 20 taps and about 50 bottles. This place is like a taproom for Voss Bryggeri. A lively local bar late in the evening. (Visited May 7th 2016 with Gunnar, Holmen1 and Holmen2 and alone July 29th 2021)“

“A pub, bar or brewery taproom? Not at all! This is a farm where you can enjoy local food and a traditional beer in an old wooden storehouse (Norwegian: stabbur) Tasty food, unique beer and very nice service! The host really spent some time with us and I can’t complain about the price for beer, food and guiding. (260 Nok) A fantastic cultural experience. Recommended. “After a relaxing train trip from Finse we entered this historic, Swiss styled hotel from 1889. Fredrik’s Bar is a fine, classic bar with lots of dark wood and quality furniture. Great to see five beers on tap from the local Voss Bryggeri. Pubs and hotels in the village Voss (Vossevangen) seems to proudly present local beer, I like that! Nice service and spacious patio for sunny days. (Visited May 7th 2016 with Gunnar, Holmen1, Holmen2 and Inbreak)“

“Once upon a time, beer was brewed at Fleischers Hotel, and this bar is named after the owner and brewer Fredrik Borchsenius Fleischer who ran this place from 1935-1957. Stylish old interior, high ceilings and dark wood, you get the picture, comfy chairs and seating groups, with a more than acceptable beer selection, located almost at the train station, this bar shouldnt be missed.“

“Visited again July 29th 2021. This place has nowadays no interesting beers. Not a place I would rate in 2021. Original rating: A nice cafe and bar connected to Park Hotel. A patio for sunny days too. The reason why you should check out this place? Three beers from Slumpelukko on tap and in bottles. Sadly, Slumpelukko Smale was empty when we visited. “Meny grocery stores always offers a wide selection of Norwegian craft beers. If there are local breweries around, look for bottles in Meny. This store had the full range from Handverksbryggeriet and many from Tya. And, soon a new brewery will open in Voss. Stay tuned! (Visited May 7th 2016 with Gunnar, Holmen1 and Holmen2)“

“A must visit if you are passing Voss. More like a living museum, which happens to brew an old traditional farmhouse ale. No kveik at our visit, seems like the kveik had gone bad some years ago, replaced by ordinary baking yeast, beer was tasty, the food was delicious, and we also got some good stories from the owner and brewer. Also had a look at their production facilities for the sheep heads, interesting ++ Be sure to visit, you need to order in advance, but its worth it.“

“Located on Hardangerveien, only 300 mtrs from the centre of Voss, inside a big shopping mall. The best place in Voss for low ABV beers, standard Meny selection , and even some locals brewed at Balder for Vossakjøtt, Voss Brygghus+++The selection also included beers from Tya, Austmann, Kinn and Ægir.“

“A 10 minutes drive from Voss will bring you to this unique place which no serious beer hunter should miss. Both Norway’s only smalahove factory (annual capacity 70.000 smalahoves) and a restaurant serving smalahove and cured meats. We were met by the exeptionally hospitable owner (and brewer), who served us his version of the traditional vossabrygg before giving us a tour of the premises. We ended up with enjoying their excellent cured meats and a pitcher of his beer. A truly memorable evening!“

“A great little place for beers hunters, centrally located in beautiful Voss. The café caters for the cafe latte brigade, but they had a couple of great beers from Voss Brewery on tap when we visited. Returning in the evening, their cellar bar was a true delight for beer aficionados, with 20 different micros on tap. Approx. 60 bottled beers to cjoose from. Very pleasant staff. (Four gentlemen gone beer hunting). Lovely and relaxed atmosphere.“

Meny Voss (Grocery Store)
HARDANGERVEGEN 25
“The Meny chain is often the best place to look for a decent selection of Norwegian micros and macros, and usually you’ll find some quite ok imported beers. Fresh food, bread, fruit and vegetables also tend to be of fine quality. This particular Meny store surprised us with their wide selection of beers, some of them beautifully presented. We found many beers we hadn’t rated, so all of us were more than pleased. (Four gentlemen gone beer hunting).“

“Update 9.5.16. Bar downstairs have a better selection than the Cafe. 20 beers on tap, 12 from Voss Brewery.Small cosy wooden cabin feeling inside this old traditional house "Hålandshuset". Planed wide thimber walls, wooden floors , small tables all around the big L shaped room. 7 beers on tap from Voss at my visit, lots of bottles as well, good service, probably even better in summer, when you can enjoy your beer at the big patio outside, overlooking the main square of Voss.“

“Update 9.5.16. My third visit in 3 months, no beer of their own at none of these visits. This is more like a R&R burger place with brewing on the premises, no visable brewing equipment, the brewing is done in the out of sight. About 30 different beer in bottles, besides their own on tap, which was empty at my short visit. Burger was OK, nothing more.“

“Just a couple of years ago, the only thing you could get in the cellar of thios place apart from regulkar lager was Newcastle Brown ale, so I was pleasantly surprised when I visited the place recently. The have quite a few beers on tap from the local Voss Bryggeri but also a bunch of bottles. Notice that when the place gets full, it can be a bit noisy.“

“Probably the only place in Voss town centre to get craft beer on tap. Usually a small range of tap beers from Ægir, and the wonderful local Voss Bryggeri. Centrally located, overlooking the church. Good food selection, large outdoor area, friendly and relaxed atmosphere daytime. Very well kept beers, and usually served to the rim.“

“A strange place to have a brewery (and taproom), but it’s very scenic. Enjoy the view from the patio, overlooking the entire valley. We only had an appointment to stop by some day, not which day, but were lucky and the brewer were there and gave us a good tour and we got to taste a few beers as well. They do growlers of the store strength beers, but I think you have to watch out on facebook or give them a call in advance to make sure someone’s there. Anyway, at least if you’re in the area, it’s sure worth a detour.“

“This is probably one of the smaller Vinmonopol shops in Norway, but if you’re staying there and want som ok beers above 4.7%, then you need to go to this shop. Please refer to Wikipedia or something if you’re unfaminiliar wih this state run monopoly and its alcohol prices. At present they have 62 different bottled beers, 38 of them Norwegian. 32 Norwegian craft beers. From my experience, the staff is friendly, but I haven’t had the need for real service.“

“A farm outside Voss that’s both Norway’s only smalahove factory and a restaurant serving smalahove. They also serve traditional Voss homebrew made with kveik (family yeast). Lovely place where smaller groups eat in an old wooden building, served by the owners themselves. The smalahove (which really is burnt, smoked sheep’s head) is delicious, and the homebrew is really good. As far as I am aware, this is the only place on the face of the earth that will serve you Voss-style beer made with kveik, so easily worth it just for that, but the service was great, the food was great, the surroundings were great, and what more could you possibly want? If you’re not squeamish I recommend seeing the smalahove factory, which the most insane thing ever.

Beware that you must book ahead. Also beware that you’ll need taxi. They have a really expensive limo service if you prefer that.“

“Café in a wooden house in the centre of Voss serving 2-3 Voss Bryggeri beers and perhaps 1-2 Ægir. Unless they’re sold out. Which they were when we were there. Inside it’s pretty bare and looks like a hostel or something. People working the bar are OK, but not locals. The food is not at all bad, but nothing special. It probably is your best bet in Voss itself.“

“Inside the brewery there’s a small bar in what used to be a shop. There are no regular opening hours, but now and then they’re open (and you can request that they open for you). Note that they’re the only pub within miles, so when they are open there can be 50-60 people crammed into the tiny pub. It was under renovation when we were there, but looked really nice. There’s a terrace with a gorgeous view of the valley which they’re working on getting a license for. If you can make it there and they’re open I would definitely go. Looks great.“

“4 taps in the main entrance hall to Voss Bryggeri. Nice little place where you’ll meet most of the staff on any given visiting occasion. Simple, but very intimate and friendly atmosphere. Not so much a pub as a place to try their latest beers and have a chat, but since the brewery has a serving license it still deserves a "place" status IMO.“
