“20 taps, of which 2 are wine, 1 is a cider, and 7 are tapped out, which means only 10 beers on tap. They are nice local beers. A 2-man band was setting up bongos and a guitar. Quite spacious. About 4 blocks from the ferry terminal, the only reason to visit the city, which means most visits are very short. In this case go to Angeles Brewing Supplies instead, and which has a much better and larger selection, and better ambiance.“

“Safeway..need I say anymore? Truthfully, Safeway has gotten much better over years. Sometime Chimay (not here) is available. At least it is in Cupertino. 80% macro beers. And 20% large microbrews. A dozen tall boy craft beers. Overall…meh. 1.9“

“0.5 mile into town, on my way to the ferry. Nice selection of international beers, especially Eastern Europe and chzeck. Also some locals. Quite a small store overall all. Like a convenience store. Nice vibe, but selection and other goods don’t warrant a visit. 2.8“

“13 beers on tap including 4 flavored ciders. Flight of of four for $10, which is pretty cheap. Fantastic location, which is 1/2 block from the ferry, so you can visit, while waiting to depart. Beer quality is quite poor. Some fruity weirdness is common to all their beers. I think it could be chlorinated water, or yeast reuse for all styles, or more likely: the fruited cider flavorings linger in the fermenters used for all beers. Maybe Need better cleaning. 3.7 only because location is great.“

“This is a funky little place in downtown Port Angeles. Live music punctuated our visit on a Sunday evening. The beer list was only eight drafts and a handful of bottles and cans. Half the drafts were Washington breweries. The ambiance is a bit hole-in-the-wall but friendly and decent service.“

“A newer and very cool addition to the peninsula beer world. This was a brewery back in the day, but new owners converted it in 2014 to a specialty beer tavern. Pretty much everybody else at the bar while I was here ordered a bottle of something domestic, usually without a glass, but even for an independent-beer maniac like me, that’s alright. Everything about the place says that all comers are welcome.

The picture windows that show you the pool tables and the bar from the sidewalk are bigger than the door. This place is the least thing from new construction--you can imagine the stools and the bar having been here since the war years. The bar goes on forever, and off to the right are separate rooms where you shoot a game of stick or otherwise while away some time. There are TVs here and there, generally tuned to the game. You don’t notice the Seahawks decorations right away, but they’re there. They support their Super Bowl champions out here the same way we do in town.

The beer lineup is really interesting. Good kegs from in town and out of state, along with interesting ciders, too. It’s awesome to see over a dozen nice beers make it all the way out here. Best of all, they support the locals. Dungeness and Hop Crew each had two taps pouring, and other locals have shown up here recently as well. I love this, especially for breweries that don’t have tasting rooms of their own. They need the Lazy Moons of the world, and their beers are easily good enough to have a pint or two.

The barmaid was a character, and she might have been the prize of the whole visit. She’s the classic small-town sassy lass, telling us as soon as we came in how the day was shaping up, where she had cleaned so far (and where we couldn’t sit yet as a result), and firing up conversation with everyone about bathroom remodels, building a greenhouse, and a million other things. She turned on some Clapton (and hummed along), got pretzels, and reminded people when they needed for her to get them more beer. She was even candid enough to admit that she didn’t drink much beer, and never drank the micro stuff, saying (and I quote) "these beers are entirely too flavorful for me." She was awesome, especially after we got her intrigued enough to taste a cider and something else, and maybe she’ll spark up some new interest in the suds she slings. I definitely want to come back to check.“

“Right on Highway 101, and truly rock solid. We just came in for something cold to drink (didn’t even get a beer), but everything about the place felt just right.

They have a little open patio/deck space (with heaters, even!) that flows back into the main bar via roll-up garage doors. There’s a row of booths and big dark wood bar. The staff are sweet younger gals with a lot of charm, and they’re right on top of the details.

The beer list was good, and the barback was big and impressive. It must be a popular spot to bend an elbow in the evenings. Lots of good kegs in from all over the west coast, and a couple from farther away.

There’s a solid pub menu with all kinds of nice choices, and the kitchen is clearly a well-oiled machine from what I could see. I wish I could say I’d tried the food, but I’d eagerly come in for a meal anytime.

This place seemed like a fun spot to watch the game or hang out with friends, and I’d definitely hit again.“

“A very busy and trendy gastropub in the heart of downtown. Nice and modern, just expect to wait or be crowded at the bar. Service was good considering and selection of beers is well curated. Food is well done and a touch pricey but good for the area. Overall a good place to go for craft beer and good food.“

“A good restaurant, trying to be fancy, with 6 craft beers on tap, that can be poured as beer flight (Maudite, Manny...). Not too exciting, but in dry Port Angeles it’s at least of some value.“

“Been here the first week they opened after replacing Peaks, so still carrying some beers that were brewed onsite, but now the brewing equipment is gone and replaced by a big tv screen; I don’t like the atmosphere, sad town bar with neon lights and pool table; but at the moment they have almost 20 taps including other micros, a few bottles and they sell also to go. The lady behind the counter is very loud and very helpful with my tasting!“

“Just a warehouse room in front of the water, poorly decorated, almost no windows, and dark. The waitress doesn’t seem to participate much.
I didn’t have a series of such bad beers in long time, smelling like ass and full of diacetyl.
They are supposed to have 11 taps, but half of them apparently are out.“

“This is one peculiar place; medium sized grocery store with items from many countries, mostly Eastern Europe; they have a respectable number of beers for such kind of shop, and for Port Angeles, and could be interesting if you look for Russian beers and the like, although they have some local craft too. Visited in April 2014, they still had a bottle of Jadwiga, but I couldn’t see other meads and apparently the owner was seriously sick and couldn’t replenish the stock.“

“This has become one of my favorite local spots, and I am not alone - it is almost always hopping. In terms of ambiance, it is what it is - a loud, somewhat-cramped pub, and not someplace to go for a quiet talk. Service depends a lot on who your server is, and can be great (Angie is the best!) to merely satisfactory. I really like their food (fish tacos, garlic fries, and pannini to name a few faves). As for the beer, they rotate taps and lean toward local stuff, and I’ve rarely been disappointed with what’s on the board. There bottle list is solid.“

“High end food meets somewhat grungy bar - reminds me of much of the Montreal scene. I had the Crab Cake Burger ($17) which comes with a handful of fries. It was real crabmeat (+) but was somewhat burnt (-) ... overall a decent but non-filling meal; not worth the money but hey - I was a tourist and its okay to splurge at times. The beer selection was good for a town this size with 10 taps of West Coast micro brews. The Racer 5 was out but there were some passable stand-ins. It was very busy, which is surprising in a town of 19K at 2pm in the afternoon. Barkeep could have used some help as service was slow and he forgot to bring my second flight.“

“Visited the brewpub on August 25th, 2012. Each of us ordered a flight of four 4-oz samples. My saving grace was that I was told to get the guest taps... but made the mistake of sampling some of the unfinished brewpub samplers on the table. The service was good but the poor gal had no idea how bad the beers were. I don’t know if they’ve not cleaned their lines but everything suffered from SERIOUS diacetyl infection. Undrinkable. All samplers order by the 8-person group of us went unfinished. Terrible.“

“Small, ethnically eclectic grocer on the same road that leads up to Olympic National Park/Hurricane Ridge. Offers a wide variety of foods/snacks/beverages. Regional PNW and local WA bottles are available. Eastern European bottles, some Belgian stalwarts, and various Polish meads are in stock. The owner can be a little cranky at times. I was actually asked to leave during my first visit (apparently I was taking too long while thoroughly perusing everything that the store has to offer ... perhaps he has some trouble with shop-lifters, and my unfamiliar face had him worried?). Conversely, the lady behind the counter has been pleasant and helpful on subsequent visits. Fun little place to pick up some provisions for your hike/picnic. Give it a shot, you never know what you’ll find ... sodas, beer, wine, mead, smoked salmon, ethnic snacks, etc ...“

“This is the kind of place that the area has been lacking. They are offering respectable and frequently rotating taps, above average pub food, in a modern yet comfortable setting. A couple screens, warm lighting, and a (family) friendly vibe are all in place here during the day. Gets a bit more rowdy and loud at night and on the weekends. An ample sized bar along with several tables and booths are available. The street-side wall is actually a large window festooned door that can be rolled up when the weather permits, allowing for outside seating as well. Live music, apparently, on Sundays. The food menu is comprised of a plethora of locally sourced ingredients. Greens from local growers, cheeses from local makers, beef from local raisers, bread from local bakers, soups from local specialists (Toga’s) ... you get the idea. Burgers are cooked to order, quite tasty, and come along with your choice of fries, sweet potato fries, or mixed green salad. I had the bruschetta burger: smoked mozzarella, fresh tomato, crisped basil leaves, lightly seared proscuitto, and a balsamic reduction. Lots of other options are available as well: poutine, creative panini sandwiches, dungeness crab salad, vegan options, happy hour appetizers, etc ... I’d love to see their tap/bottle list become more varied and far reaching, offering things that are a little harder to come by in the area. For example, many of the taps/bottles are also available in regional stores/grocers (Upon subsequent visits, this situation seems to be changing for the better). For the type of place they are striving to be, in this day and age, they REALLY need to at least provide a current and accurate electronic taplist. Nothing fancy is required, just something to let us know if the travel time is worth it. Overall, don’t expect to be ’blown away’ if you are from the city; but I think the owners have the right idea here, and the potential exists to do some really great things for the area. Worth a visit if you happen to be in PA and want a good bite to go along with a solid beer. If you are looking for more than just upscale pub food, this is still a great place to have a drink before heading down the street for dinner.“

“Have been able to visit a couple more times as I was traveling through the area, and thought it would be a good idea to update my initial review. Serves their own ’Barhop’ brews, and usually has a few nice guest taps (glad to see this development). Everything is available in tasters, pints, or growlers. The space is simple but inviting. Tables, chairs, a small bar, and a little ’living room’ nook all make for a modern but cozy atmosphere. The service has always been very friendly and helpful. No real food available; but they provide free snacks like pretzels etc, and welcome you to bring in food from outside. This would also be a fine place to meet up with some friends before a show or after a long hike. It turned out to be a great place to wait until my dinner reservation was ready. They even have some board games if you are so inclined. I am not a fan of the house brews, but hopefully they will improve over time. The addition of a few guest taps was a great move for the business. I lucked out last time I was in town and snagged a growler of Chuckanut Kolsch, which is otherwise largely unavailable this far northwest. That alone will prompt me to swing by for a peek EVERY time I happen to be in the area. Like most of these smaller places, they currently lack any real ’online’ presence. Nothing fancy is required; but I, for one, would love to know what is precisely on tap/guest via a simple and efficient web source. Glad to see this little area growing in regards to craft beer. I hope that the neighborhood chooses to utilize the nice space that Barhop has provided for them. I wish them a prosperous future.“

“Great new place in Port Angeles. 6 Taps the brewery is at the Harbinger Winery They bring the beers over to the tap room and they are good. Tasty good beers. I like the tap room it is open spacious. This is going to be a great place to visit as the years go on and we visit Port Angeles. This is a over 21 taproom. “

“Joet told me to share the beers and add this. In two visits I have procured 9 different Port Townsend Brewing beers here and with the one I got from Bottleworks and one from the Peaks Brewpub across the street form Safeway I will be tied for #1 rater of PTB. Lots of Washington beers to try here.“
