“Visited around 5:30 on a Friday. Only metered street parking was available, but the meters don't run all the time. The place's main focus is as a coffee shop. However they do have 8 beers on draft and offer them as a flight of 4. All on my visit were made in West Virginia. The flight was $8, so not bad. They had beer from 5 different WV breweries on my visit. Ambiance was relaxed. Just a quiet coffee shop vibe. Service wasn't all that friendly, but was quick anyhow. I'd probably come back, but it wouldn't be as high a priority as Rambling Root just down the street.“

“Visited on a Friday around 4:30 PM. Some street parking is available, but there is also a small parking lot behind the building. Inside there is a small bar to seat about 10 people, several tables, and then a second bar area toward the back. Each bar has its own different taps, but the one in the back only has about 4 beers. The quantity and diversity of the beers on tap from West Virginia was pretty impressive. Several West Virginia breweries and cideries were well represented. Flights of 4 beers were available. They also offered pours from bottles of the local mead, ciders, and wines. I could not get over how impressive this place was with it's WV representation. Prices were pretty reasonable as well. Nothing stood out as overpriced or under. They do have a food menu, but I did not order anything. All things considered this is a great beer bar, and one I will highly recommend. Anytime I'm passing through I will make an effort to stop in.“

“Owner Tom opened for my brother and me on July 2nd Saturday after my email request earlier in the day. Small little operation two minutes off the highway. Tom may be the nicest man in the world, and not in any annoying Ned Flanders way. Quick tour of the premises and operation followed by free tastes of all 8 mead bottle offerings. Great prices for bottles and cases. If planning to be in the area, give Tom a call or email and enjoy.“

“Parking right in front. The bar is on the right as soon as you walk in the door. The atmosphere is worn diner which works for me. My service was excellent, Tom is on it to where the next sample is poured and ready. The meads here are on the dry end of the spectrum. Really nice talk about meads. Tom met me there by appointment. Tom is quite generous and very nice. After the samples he gave me a tour the operation. The diversity of meads is quite broad. I plan to go back and if you are traveling I79, like mead, and have an hour you should shop by this place.“

“After prior communication with the owner, Tom, I was able to arrange a time for my friend and I to visit his meadery on a Friday afternoon. Thank you again, Tom, for working with me. The building is a little off the beaten path in Fairmont, at least my GPS made me think so as it would me through residential areas before stopping me at the Mazery. There is a small dedicated parking lot. Once inside, there is a bar directly to the right with barstools. Tom was our server. Not sure if he normally is, but it was great regardless. He is very knowledgeable of his meads and mead in general. It was cool to talk to him. He poured us samples of his meads and gave us the background of each one he poured. After our tasting, he took us on a tour of the facility and showed us where he cellared the meads. That was a great sight.Every wall of the basement was lined with fermenting meads. Beautiful! After the tour we bought some bottles and headed out. Bottles and the tasting were very reasonable. If I were closer, I would make this place one I often frequented. Great place.“

“Owner and mead master Tom Maltby opened especially for me - he has the capacity to run weekly tasting room openings every Thursday, plus the occasional visit if you call ahead and work out a time. His range is extensive, 8 meads, melomels and methyglyns in total, from his apiary just a few miles away. He also grows the roses for the rhodomel. He’s very friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, and his meads are very tasty, tending toward the drier side. The tasting room itself is an old grill/restaurant on the edge of town, a short 30 minute drive from Morganstown, and it’s worth having a look around the town of Fairmont as well - lots of locally owned businesses. A very nice stop.“
